Cut, Studies, Hears, Drowns, Zil
The goblins, not having much else to say, follow the guardian to an ancient looking building- Entering inside, it almost looks as if it was a forge, the intial room being big enough for a store, though no signs of it being one- To the right side an ancient looking furnace, amazingly enough looking like it still saw use. Despite the fact that currently there wasn't even coal inside, that is.

The guardian has a silent conversation with another mermen within- A muscular man, with naked upper body, in fact only carrying short leggings existing out of a mix of small, blueish metal plates and a leather seemingly made from fish-scale. With no further issue, they're lead further in the complex, up a set of chairs. Outside, light was provided by enchanted mana stones, giving a bright light. Inside here however, there seemed to be several glass bowls filled with water, containing a "bulb" sprouting some vines that seem to be regularly pruned, the bulb emitting a generous amount of light- Your room contains something even more intriguing, as in another glass bowl there's a few small fish- Startling awake and emitting a faint blue light as the goblins enter. The beds seem to be made from a strange, porous material- Colors varying between yellow and green, It's texture being rough, but none the less soft as some pressure bulges it in slightly, giving some comfort.

Not that Cut could care any less, as she instantly crashes into it, managing to fall asleep despite the conditions- Touches, after first checking out the bed, soon joins her, along with all others of the goblins- Some take some time to fall asleep in the conditions, especially with some of the beds seeming "moist"- But eventually, the worst seems to subside as they grow used to the conditions, and eventually everyone falls asleep, Harley curling up on the end of Studies bed, while the manikin climb up with the fish to inspect them closely, falling "asleep" up with them on the shelf- The little fish eventually falling asleep as well, as their blue light fades.

In the morning, they would have a small incident as they woke up- But for now, several hours in their sleep, Hears awakes as he hears shuffling sounds- Coming to the realization that Touches, laying in the bed next to him, was standing up, trying to be silent- With one eye open, he spots her feeling around, until her hands clamp around the skull she had received earlier- Before she shuffles over to the door, being very careful not to wake the fish as she tries to exit.

Cut meanwhile, also seems to have a situation- Be it her own dreams, if not nightmares. Though within the span of said "nightmare", as it continues as usual, she notices something out of the corner of her eye, though too captured in the dream to really realize what it meant- "Nigh". Sitting to the side, just watching. As he always does- Just watching, and waiting...

But then there suddenly was someone else- A figure she couldn't quite realize, though still too captured in the dream to fully pay attention to the cloaked figure- As it holds out a lantern in front of the elf, as he stands up, almost entranced- Following the figure, soon disappearing.

Born almost fires back some sort of retort, but then he pauses, actually considering what the shades are suggesting. They're fighting to prevent the universe from ending the way it's supposed to, after all. Is it wrong to do that? Especially if Misery's plan really is to unravel the purpose created by Asatun and bring about the natural end of the universe?

"...Well, maybe," admits Born. "I don't know if it's right or wrong to do what we're doing. But the alpha timelineÔÇÖs already been changed, so there's no way of knowing what's meant to happen anymore. We can't say whether the universe is 'meant' to be saved by us or destroyed by Misery. And if we start second-guessing ourselves about whether we should succeed or fail so that we act according to fate, it'll be impossible for anyone to do anything at all."

Since Studies doesn't seem to have any dream invaders he stays in a deep sleep, enjoying sleeping in a bed again, even if it is a bit soggy.

At first, Hears isn't really sure what to do. Should he try to follow Touches without her noticing? Or pretend to be asleep, then ask in morning? Or maybe he should just get up and ask her outright what she's doing?

Eventually, he reaches a compromise....sort of. After waiting for a couple of seconds for her to leave the room, he carefully climbs out of his own bed and quickly follows behind, reaching out to tap her on the shoulder when they're far enough away not to wake the others.
"Hey. What's wrong? Can you not sleep?"

Cut
Almost realizing what is happening, Cut tries to intervene- But fails, some kind of force keeping her "trapped" within her current dream- The cloaked figure briefly turns to her, a pair of blue glowing eyes emitting from within the hood, but no other features to be seen- And then as she continues her dream, momentarily forgetting it even happened...

Hears
Hears spends a few moments thinking on what to do, eventually getting out of bed, silently following- Going down the stairs, he finds her back in a passage to the left, holding the skull in a hand- Silently whispering. She releases a small squeek as Hears taps her on the shoulder, startled-

"Oh- I'm sorry, I... I just...Didn't want to wake anyone..." she sighs, standing up, looking as if she was caught stealing from a cookie jar.

"I just... This skull here... I was going to tell you eventually, but it didn't really matter and there was so much going on, but... Anyways, one property it has is that it allows you to speak with someone else who has one of these... I got nothing, of course. Even if... The teller had one near, he'd probably be sleeping."

"...There's one more thing this can do... I don't like it, but it can tell you something about the nearby future, but it's... I'll just show you."

Doing so, she holds the skull in front of her- Still whispering as to not wake anyone, she speaks- "Revel unto me, what awaits in our destiny."

A mere moment later, the jaw of the skull starts to move, clattering it's teeth- A dark voice whispering back-

"The second knight shall make his arrival before the sun sets once more."

"...And that's why I don't like it."

"Creepy ominous bullshit which you have no idea what it means until it's too late anyways."

And so, after presumably a few more words with each other, both eventually get back to bed.

Born
"...Well, maybe. I don't know if it's right or wrong to do what we're doing.

"Ah... What is right?"
"What is wrong?"
"Do you honestly believe there to be an correct answer?"
"There is merely a set of rules..."
"But what you do with them in the end is up to your kind."
"Funny though..."
"Your kind always seems to make the funniest decisions."
"This constant desire to be MORE."
"And the lengths they will go to try and get it..."
"But is that merely a flaw?"
"Or by design?"

"And besides... destroying a timeline seems a lot worse than destroying a universe. You aren't stopping at killing everyone; you're making it so that they never existed. Maybe it is the natural order that everything dies, but until then, everything lives. So I wouldn't say wiping out a timeline is the natural order. I'd say it's just the opposite."

"Heh. Perhaps you are right."
"Perhaps you are wrong."
"But who are we to make such decision?"
"We must admit, however..."
"There are only very, very few things that are not connected to the ether..."
"Those things that are not... They are not natural."
"They should not exist."
"And in this case, we must admit..."
"We would not want to mess with either of them."

"Yeah... all right. Wouldn't be the first time. I take it you need me to do something in the mortal world?"

"How observant."
"Yes- There is a small task to do."
"There is a man that is trapped in your world."
"There are many of them, actually..."
"But just one shall suffice for now."
"We want you to free him."
"Your best bet will be the dwarven city."
"They hold an docking outpost near the ocean. A small town."
"At the outskirts of said town, at the very edge you'll find a mansion."
"Ignore the signs telling you not to,and enter."
"You will find him there."

"But with that..."
"Your visit here comes to an end."
"Carry out your little task..."
"And then you may come back."
"Until then..."
"Goodbye."

And with that, Born feels himself falling once more- With a shock suddenly finding himself in front of a strange bowl with blue, glowing fish, the air strangely giving an strangely uncomfortable feeling on his chest- As eventually, he too slumps in bed and falls asleep.

Day 7 turn 1
9:00

Cut, Studies, Hears, Drowns, Zil and Born

The goblins are woken by a loud splash of water- Drowns, in his sleep, having absorbed all water that was within the sponge bed- And subsequently making it wet once more as the water "mantle" collapsed. Needless to say, none of the goblins are happy about the situation, as everything they drank yesterday now finally seems to get to them- And, in combination with the high pressure, the goblins feel all but well, the only one being mostly alright being Drowns, thanking his paladin constitution for that fact- As most goblins pale a bit and resist the urge to throw up, Cut starts recalling her dream from yesterday- And then, with a shock, remembers Nigh. But before she can get too upset, a familiar voice speaks up.

"...You seem to be awfully distressed about something that isn't the case."

As most goblins get around to shaking off most of the nausea, some, such as Touches trying to get back to sleep, sounds of footsteps can be heard coming up the stairs- Not much later a sleazy looking merman with messy hair, a pipe sticking out his mouth gets at the top- The goblins instantly recognizing him as the inquisitioner.

"Ah. So you guys too, huh?" he says, shaking his head slowly and taking another tuft of his pipe, before taking it out and starting to talk properly.

"Anyways... I've been told that you guys are pretty much free to do what you want. If you want to stay sleeping for a bit, that's fine, but meanwhile Alvar arranged everything for you guys. Ah, where the hell are my manners- Name's Jack." the merman says, sticking out his one free hand as a friendly gesture.

"The librarian has started work on looking up anything that could be important for you guys. Might be a while before he finds something really important, but if you want, I can take you there so you can check u on how he's doing."

"Besides that, we've also got the duke to prepare something so you guys can explore this place better. Probably your first stop if you wanna explore past the city center. On which note, if ya got any questions or want a tour or something like that, just ask- I'll be your guide."

"Princess meanwhile is at the castle, together with Alvar and the captain guy. Can escort you there too, if that's what you want."

Cut and Paste
"Nigh, is that you? What happened last night? Can you please explain?" Cut thinks, thoroughly confused and worried about the wellbeing of the voice in her head- Which would have most people question their sanity.

"As far as I'm aware... Absolutely nothing."

"All I can recall is another, boring, dull night."

"I would have to say it seems that you just had a nightmare."

"...Well, weren't it for one thing. The fact that I feel... Better."

"I'm not sure if it's an improvement or not, as that once again means... Nothing, but it's probably an improvement over, well... I suppose the best word for it to you is 'pain'."

"As to WHY however, I am just as clueless as you. I don't remember anything happening..."

"...I assume you have something to help us breathe underwater. Maybe some hangover cure..."

"Ah, that's where the duke was gonna fix ya up. Couldn't explore much of the city otherwise, could you?"

"Not so sure about the hangover stuff, though."

"Hangover's supposed to be dehydration," mumbles Born. "I heard the water mages in Valdenoir have a thing they do for that. Like, a water thing. Drowns, do a water thing."

"And, uh, sorry about the fight, Jack. No hard feelHOW IN ASATUN'S NAME ARE YOU SMOKING," he blurts out, sitting bolt upright in bed.

If the party moves on, Born will go with the others to see the duke.

Cut, Studies, Hears, Drowns, Zil and Born
"Alright, care to show me to the Duke first then?"

"Sure thing. Figured that was where y'all would wanna go first, considering the rest of the city is a little bit off limits till you've done that. Anything else?"

"I'd like to go to the castle, could you show me how to get there?"

"Easy, ya can pretty much see the spires from outside- Just follow the path out to the left back to the city center, then along the road with the two statues- Shouldn't be hard."

"Of course, you'll only be able to enter the first half of the castle, unless you have another way to traverse the whole breathing water thing. Duke's on the way there though, so might as well stop by."

Born meanwhile, is more preoccupied with how the room seems to be spinning- And after inquiring Drowns for help in that matter, realizes there is someone else in the room- A familiar someone.

"And, uh, sorry about the fight, Jack. No hard feelHOW IN ASATUN'S NAME ARE YOU SMOKING-"

Jack raises a scaled eyebrow before giving a small grin.

"Same reason ya aren't drowning mate- Whole city center is in a giant air bubble. Placed there by, whatwuzhisname... Hermes, that was it. The big statue in the center of town is made in the guy's name- The stone is the actual item keeping the bubble up. Adapted as we might have to underwater, there's a few things you can't do in the water... Such as smoking a good old-fashioned pipe."

"As for what it is... It's just seaweed. If you catch my drift. Honestly though, it's harmless stuff... Keeps you relaxed, keeps you focused... Keeps my aim on point-" He says, giving the crossbow to his side a quick pat.

"And no worries mate, we're cool. We just both did what we were supposed to do and all... Now we'll just have to see how it all turns out, eh?"

"Anyways, get outta bed than mates- I'll show you to the duke. Get some of that ache out of ya, eh?"

Following that, the goblins are escorted outside of the forge's house where they rested, out in the streets- It is considerably lighter outside, some kind of magic seeming to "simulate" some form of night and day- As evident by the many merfolk now out on the streets- Though you get the impression that many are there just for sightseeing- Not seeming to need go anywhere in particular, instead just gazing at the goblins and whispering amongst each other- Jack gesturing some of the civilians to move aside for everyone to get through.

You notice the clothing most of them seem to be wearing to be quite different from the armor the guards and Jack seem to be carrying- Many males seeming to go bare-chested, those who don't instead wearing a tight-fitting leather made from fish scales- Similarly, most leggings are made of a similar material, some of the males having an additional larger scale as a plate to further reveal their "private parts"- The females seem to mostly follow suit, many wearing only a bra- Some from the same metal, some using clams instead. A few of the maidens, instead of the almost customary fish-scaled leather seem to be wearing some form of long-flowing cloth, draping many layers of it in what for most result as an elegant dress. Many maidens also "spruce" themselves up, carrying things such as a colorful sea flower or seastar in their hair. None are carrying either boots or gloves, leaving their webbed hands and feet free. As Jack escorts the party back to the center of the city, Cut takes a moment to further converse with Nigh-

"So you remember nothing of my nightmare? This is very troubling. I'm worried for you, I do not wish anything terrible to happen to you."
"Considering I feel better, I very much doubt whatever happened had ill intentions... But no, I do not remember a thing. With that being said it is... VERY interesting..."

"I never found out what my... Kind is supposed to be after all, and now to hear that there is someone... Or something out there that, well, for a lack of a better word, helped me, is very intriguing. Especially considering that such a thing would probably know more about what my purpose is supposed to be."

"Alas, whatever it is doesn't seem wanting to share- As evident by the fact that I can't even remember it happening... And you almost forgot too."

Eventually, the goblins arrive back at the city center, the statue towering above the goblins and the "fountain" they had used to enter- To the north, the angelic and merfolk statue stand, leading the way to the castle. But for now, with still many gawking, far overshadowing by the amount of people who seem to be there with an actual purpose, Jack leads the goblins to a large building, giving the impression of a large warehouse, two guards stationed out front wearing the same armor Jack does- Seeing him approach, both step aside and allow entry to him and you.

You enter to find yourself in a moderate-sized room, a counter right in front of you- Sitting behind the desk is a man you're not sure if you should call merfolk, or merwhale- Because unlike the many, usually very athletic merfolk, this one seemed to be fat- With calling him just fat most likely being kind. With short, ragged hair and some balding, to call him attractive wouldn't be quite right either.

The merwhale gives the goblins a brief glare, as Jack looks expectantly- With a small huff, the duke works himself out of his chair.

"Yeah, I've arranged something. Hold on, I got it ready in the back-" saying so, the merwhale opens a door to the back, from beyond which you can see many shelves storing many different goods- He grabs a small wooden crate which he did indeed seemed to have prepared beforehand, swiftly returning and closing the door behind him- He moves to set it down on the counter- Just before he sets it down however, he lifts it back up, looking at the goblins-

"...Do any of you have any idea of what you've done?"

Not a moment after saying so however, he breathes a heavy sigh, shrugging it off as if he had said nothing, setting the small crate down- Inside there being 7 runes, a very intricate design carved into them- Studies recognizing that they seem to contain a considerable amount of power.

"These here are transmutation runes... Very expensive to make I'll have you know, so please don't abuse them- Well, they're one use, but still- I don't to waste any more if I don't need to."

"Once you activate them, you'll temporarily transform into one of our kind. Or, well... Mergoblins I guess. It'll grant you the ability to breathe underwater, some fins and probably help deal with the climate around here as well- Pretty sure it's quite different than the surface, isn't it?"

"The transformation lasts 6 hours. I would advise to not be in the middle of something when it expires."

Almost negligent, he then also adds- "And, of course, if there's something you'll think you'll truly need... You may always say so."

"If those runes are so hard to make, then forget it," replies Born, idly considering what would happen if he used the rune to make a manikin, and used the manikin to make, like, fish arrows. The magic would probably just return to being arcane if it left the rune, he decides. Oh well.

"We're just here to visit the library and look around a bit, and we're probably not going to stay for six hours, anyway. Save the runes for someone who needs 'em."

The duke raises an eyebrow in apparent surprise as Born refuses the rune.

"Well now, I wasn't expecting that. But if you're sure, certainly." he says- Pausing a moment before continuing, seemingly feeling obliged- Especially to someone who seems humble enough to actually refuse something they were offered.

"But just so you know, this are the kind of cases that we usually hand these out... You know, humans or, well, landdwellers in general visiting the city. It's a rare enough occurrence for it to be warranted."

"But once again, if you're sure you're only here to visit the library, then yes, you wouldn't need a rune... Sure you wouldn't want anything else at least? Maybe something as simple as a waterbreathing potion? Not quite as luxurious or as lengthy as the rune, but a good alternative if you'd need to temporarily go into the water... Usually lasts about thirty minutes."

"Goblin villages aren't exactly known for having a lot of stuff to go around," Born says quietly, with a hint of a regretful smile. "I couldn't ask you to give away something you have so little of for yourself. And waterbreathing potions should be more than enough. Uh, thanks," he adds, a little awkwardly.

"...What did you mean about us not knowing what we've done?" he asks after a moment's thought. "Do you mean about replacing Triton?"

Upon recieving the rune, Studies looks at it for some time to see what he can learn about it, before thanking the duke and heading towards where Nami, the captain, and presumably the high ranking merfolk are(Somewhere in the castle). If they are in an area outside the bubble, then he will use the rune. Otherwise, he just walks to where they are.

Cut, Studies, Hears, Drowns, Zil and Born

All goblins grab one of the runes, including Touches- Besides Born, adamantely refusing it, the duke momentarily going to the back to grab some waterbreathing potions instead. Studies takes a brief moment to "read" the rune- It appears to be very complex, featuring a multitude of different, intertwined symbols- Most notably lava and water, though storm and nature are also present- The best literal translation that could be given from it being "Imbue soul water".

Having done that, both Studies and Cut decide to leave for the castle, the others staying behind for now- After some consideration, Jack decides to join the party heading for the castle- Briefly stopping to adress one of the guards outside the warehouse, as he escorts the party to the castle- Passing through the two statues, the castle soon comes into sight...

Meanwhile, Born has some idle chatter with the Duke, being handed a potion of waterbreathing.

"Goblin villages aren't exactly known for having a lot of stuff to go around."I couldn't ask you to give away something you have so little of for yourself. And waterbreathing potions should be more than enough. Uh, thanks."

The duke seems to consider something for a second, before giving a thoughtful nod- As Born continues.

"...What did you mean about us not knowing what we've done? Do you mean about replacing Triton?"

"...Yeah. What else." He says after a slight pause, as if considering whether to bother responding.

"Look, what's done is done and all, and I think I'm just going to sit this out and hope not everything goes to hell... But can you even begine to realize the gravity of the situation here? Have you seen the people outside?"

"Put yourself in the same shoes for a second- One moment, your king... Erm, what did you goblins have again? Chief? Yes, your chief sits in his thr-... whatever, you know what I mean. One moment he's ruling, the other he's suddenly overthrown by someone else... How would you feel? I'll tell you what? A lot of people aren't going to be willing to listen."

"There's a lot of people that respected him. Powerful ones. And some of those aren't going to be taking this sitting down. There's going to be a few who are going to be more than delighted to have him gone of course, but those will be far fewer, trust me."

"And that's not to even begin mentioning the fact that she knows nothing about ruling- She doesn't even know any of our customs, our way of life, never having been here- Alvar has been spending the whole night trying to teach her, and to top it all of I heard she is hungover."

"...And if she's going to need to speak to the people later today, I can ony fear for the worst to happen." he says with a small sigh. "Not to mention both responsibilities of king- Well, queen and the witch? Almost pity the girl..."

Meanwhile, Studies and Cut, under escort of Jack reach the castle- Entering through large doors, they find themselves in an huge room, seeming to span all the way to the other side of the castle- The air bubble piercing the room in half, as one side is lit by large metal chandeliers- While the other side has multitudes of coral growth, emitting a bright light. Multiple doors seem to line the halls to either side, as well as there being a second and third floor being visible, stairs on either side to reach those.

However, for now it seems that they need not worry about using the runes- As they notice a slightly familiar figure. Though without his full helmet, it takes the goblins a moment to recognize the surprisingly young-looking, though tired guardian- Or Alvar, with short, spiked white-gray hair- As he bangs his fist against one of the doors.

"Your majesty, please open this door this instant!"

"Nooo, want sleep..." a soft voice echoes from within the room, the door refusing to give way for the guardian's attempts to open the door.

"Your majesty, I will break down this door!"

"Please don't..."

"Just command him as queen to not do that..." another familiar voice can be heard from within, quickly followed again by the other familiar voice of Nami-

"Yeah- I command you as queen to stop trying to open that door."

"As guardian it is my duty to ignore a command if I believe doing so to be in the best cause for my liege."

"...Aww fuuuuck."

"Ah, I'm guessing the aftereffects of the potions are getting to you too Nami? Well, i definitely understand not wanting to do anything with a headache, but I get the impression that the things you need to do right now are both important and urgent. I doubt Alvar would be bothering you if it wasn't."

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Nami's got Orpheus' recommendation over Triton, though. That's got to count for something, right?"

When they're done talking, Born takes a second to give the Chaos Brewer a long-overdue scan, and then heads out into the city center to explore for a bit. The group doesn't have much money left, so he looks for other ways to kill time while they're giving the librarian time to finish his work.

Cut and Studies
"I think we can all use some hangover brew. You know where to get some?"

"We already tried that-" Alvar replies- "But because whatever you drank had magic in it, just a regular hangover cure doesn't seem to be working... We'd need something stronger. Or some kind of booze mage or something..."

"...Booze mage? Is that even a thing?"

"I don't know, but I'm gonna need to look into that..."

"Ah, I'm guessing the aftereffects of the potions are getting to you too Nami? Well, i definitely understand not wanting to do anything with a headache, but I get the impression that the things you need to do right now are both important and urgent. I doubt Alvar would be bothering you if it wasn't."

"It is- There is so much yet to do. You'll need to practice the speech the archmage is preparing, there is some final briefing to be done- Not to mention that any moment now we should expect-"

As if on cue, a voice suddenly echoes through the castle walls- A quite angry voice, in fact- "WHAT OUTRAGE IS THIS?!"

From beyond the watery veil the tall merman emerges- Carrying some kind of enchanted silk cloth, as the fabric seems to completely resist the impact of the water on it, being spot-dry as he emerges- With quite the scowl on his face. Alvar gets closer to the door, not yelling quite as loudly.

"You really need to come out now your majesty."

"...Please?"

After a slight pause as the very pissed noble approaches, the door clicks, slowly swinging open to a very tired looking Nami, and a mer-captain slumped down in a chair.

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!" The noble yells- Standing well over Nami- For a moment it looks like she's going to cringe, before her vision becomes more resolute.

"Your queen."

The mercaptain behind her gives the slightest hint of a smirk as the tall merman seems to be fuming with anger- Raising a hand as if to smack her, before his eyes cross the trident to her side- Slowly lowering his arm again.

"And you are?"

"PFAH! Calls itself queen and doesn't even know who I am... I'm Lannister- The until recently adviser to the king."

"And if you think for even just a mere second that I am just going to sit down and take this... Blasphemy then-"

"So you're the advisor huh?"

"Yes, whatever- If you think for just a second that-"

"Start doing your job then. Advise me on how I can stop you from yelling."

"..."

"You think this is a joke?"

"You hold no actual power. The only thing you have is that staff and the word of some fool that should have died thousands of years ago and these idiots that choose to follow it."

"And trust me, you're going to find out soon enough how little that actually means."

"...Is that a threat?"

"Perhaps. But don't worry. I'm not stupid enough to try anything myself."

"So you want my advice? Prove that you can handle what's going to come. And just maybe if you can do so not all hope is lost."

"...Also, Leviathan has been spotted. That undoubtedly means he wants an audience... Considering you're also the sea witch... That's your job."

"Ugh... Okay... Jack, you go and get someone to look for some kind of extra strong hangover cure first, okay? If you can't find anything, look for something like a calm mind potion to counteract it instead."

"Alvar... You go check on the archmage and see what the hell is taking him so long. You can do your briefing later."

"Fucking hell..."
she silently mutters, as she turns back to the advisor to further address him.

Hears, Drowns, Zil and Born

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Nami's got Orpheus' recommendation over Triton, though. That's got to count for something, right?"

"Hmm..." The duke says with a small grumble.

"...Look. It certainly does, don't get me wrong... But the only one who is really going to keep caring about that is the bishop. Orpheus is... An idol, a religious figure to us. And we respect him, of course."

"...But besides yesterday, the last time he properly woke up was three years ago. And yesterday exhausted him, and now he's back to sleep. I believe he expressed interest in talking to the queen later... But honestly, considering his general state, one could think that not to be the best of ideas."

Afterward, Born finally does something that should have happened long ago- Checking out the chaos brewer.

It, on first glance, seems like a regular, small iron kettle besides three odd disturbances- The first one being a dial and a few lights, as well as a small lever on one side of the pot- Four lights saying "material", "mana", "water" and "stone"- As the dial seems to have three different settings, "break", "infuse" and "extract"- Different lights lighting up in different colors depending on what option is selected.

The second disturbance is some kind of "slot" on the bottom of the kettle- As if (small) items are to be dropped onto it.

The final odd disturbance is the top of the kettle, once you open it's lid- The lid not revealing the inside of the pot, but empty space. Some experimentation reveals the "black hole" to have the unique property of being able to accept items far grander than it's rather small opening- Though that doesn't seem to extend to persons, which is probably a good thing as diving into there would probably be a terrible idea.

The item at first looks confusing, and trying to figure it out to it's full potential would probably take several hours of "fun" experimenting.

"Luckily", Caroline quickly scans the device, immediately resolving all it's functions.

"Hmm... Quite an interesting device. It seems there are three settings. The general usage is to select an option, input valid items, and then pull the lever. If done appropriately, the device will output items into the bottom slot."

"Also, once again, this is spark technology... Though that's okay, I guess?"

"Allow me to detail:"

"Break: When put on this setting and a material is inserted, the device will attempt to break the material down to it's magical components. Please note that the device is rather inefficient and any essence it does not have enough to create a component of, will simply be released into the local aura. A prime example of usage would however be to throw in an enchanted item, to retrieve the essences and mana stone that were used in it's original enchantment. Note that some loss may occur, mostly in the form of the the actual item thrown in."

"Imbue: Unlike break, this option seems to be used to create things. Firstly, any material component must be inserted. What item this is is not important, as long as it contains a valid amount of magical energy. Then, either a mana stone, water, or stone must be added. Depending on which of the three items is added, the machine will produce different effects."

"Inserting a mana stone will attempt to enchant the mana stone with a random enchantment dependent on what magical fuel was inserted. Keep in mind that while there is always a certain amount of randomness, the effects can be estimated dependent on what items were used."

"Inserting just a regular stone however, will make the device attempt to create a rune. The device applies the same rules as it does with enchantments in this way. However, one difference being that runes do not generally require a large amount of magical power, and hence careful selections of materials might make it possible to create runes with little issue."

"Finally, if water is inserted, the device will attempt to create a potion. Prepare a vial under the device before pulling the lever. It appears the device will also accept regular potion ingredients for this mode, though a certain amount of randomness seems always present."

"There is no real way to combine any of these three modes, and hence entering multiple of these key ingredients is not advised."

"The final option is extract. This option seems to be somewhere in between break and imbue, though more costly- But also more reliable. When an magic item is inserted, together with a mana stone, the device will attempt to replicate an exact copy of the enchantment upon the item. However, this mode also requires an additional magic catalyst for it to be utilized. The lever will refuse to pull until appropriate catalyst has been added to the device for the enchantment, the cost increasing with the power of the enchantment."

"Not quite as efficient as my Paradox's eco assembler, but an interesting item in these primitive times none the less."

Having finished that, Born begins to move outside, the rest of the gang following him- He is quickly stopped at the door though, by one of the guards, in front of the large crowd.

"Hey- Jack told me that I needed to escort you guys through the city and such. Where do you want to go?"

"Do you have any historical sites that have to do with the founding of the city, or any places with interesting magical effects? This whole city is interesting, but we don't have too much time, especially if we are going to meet with the librarian later, but those would be the places i am most interested in. Well, besides the library, but i think the plan is to go there last."

Sorry for not posting in so long, it's been a combination of being really busy and not knowing quite what to do.

Born frowns at the Chaos Brewer, turning what Caroline said over in his head. He should probably let Studies have this. But something tells him that he should probably try and work with Studies on it; most likely, it's the fact that it's got 'chaos' right in its name.

Which brings to mind another item that he's had with him for a while now.

"So, hypothetically speaking, what would happen if I tried to break down this?" asks Born, removing the mirror amulet from his neck and holding it up in front of Caroline. "That lava elementalist said it had... it had a 'powerful chaos' inside of it. And he said it was sentient, like an artifact, and that one day it would turn against us. I was going to get rid of it, since it's unreliable anyway... but could we try breaking it down, using the essences we get to make a similar item, and just getting rid of whatever else was inside of it?"

While they're talking, Born and the others go with the guard to explore the marketplace, less because they have any money left to spend, and more because Born is curious about what kinds of things they eat and make in Atlantis. (Although he is still looking for a ranger pet...)
