I'm drawing a blank... did we know Vorpal could levitate like that?

Uhm, yes, with the mustache that he used that potion on. He got it here (the room with the "grabby" ropes dangling from the ceiling, and the potion attached to that staff) and he found out what it does here (theoretically, he doesn't actually know what levitation means) and here is where he uses the potion on the mustache. (...and the first leviation on the very next page.)

I know it's kind of hard to see, because it's all glowing in Vorpals IME colour, but that's what he takes out of his cloak in the second panel: the mustache.

Oh yeah! Thanks! I had totally forgotten all of that. It's been a while. Maybe I should do an archive dive sometime.
