My apologies that my post took a bit of liberties with the story but I wanted a reason to be called Fred...and the idea that maybe underling has done some things to poor little, er harmless?, oozes

1d4+3 bludgeoning and then an additional 1d4 pyschic damage.
Our ooze bodies are far superior to the meat bodies we wear...so far.

So to be clear...we have rats in a stable with a Mule and Monkeys in another room right?

Re: RtMG:E OOC
We have rats in a lab room, another room has monkeys, and a third room has a half dozen mules in a stable.
Yeah I kind of think even without the home brew additions the oblex spawn are superior to a lot of the CR 1/4 creatures. Will have to start throwing some half CR stuff at you.

Ah, I thought we had opened a stable with a bunch of rats inside...
Thanks for the clarity there...

Re: RtMG:E OOC
Based on the description I am guessing that golems and the like are immune to our loving embrace?
It would also exclude any demon, devil or yugoloth that disappears when killed?
Also, we could potentially use the bones of a giant creature or is there a size limitation?

Re: RtMG:E OOC
Might make some bone exceptions along the way, and was considering 'leveling' your base forms as you go, if you're facing a dragon and get dropped out of whatever form into a tiny ooze, you're probably good as dead anyway.
Something like your HD goes up by 1 with each CR creature you can inhabit, and your size increases as you take on larger and larger forms. Damage scaling similar to how cantrips scale with level. If I keep it based on that, if you've taken on a CR 5 form, and get knocked out of it, you'd be somewhere bigger than Tiny, but would have a total of 9 1d4 HD, and would do 2d4+3 bludgeoning and 2d4 psychic in your oblex form.

No I was referring to the example above 9d4 averages to 18 which is our current hit points.....

Re: RtMG:E OOC
Your current HP is 18, from 4d4+8. If you take on a CR 5 form, and we bump you up 5 HD, you'd then be 9d4+18.

Re: RtMG:E OOC
Okay...but where is the +18 from??
And why after years of playing this game, did someone just point out the disengage ability???
So...many...dead....characters....

Re: RtMG:E OOC
The base oblex spawn is 4d4 + 8, for an average of 18 HP. The static number added to the dice roll is just the CON modifier multiplied by the number of HD. Since they have a +2 CON and 4 HD, then it's a +8. If we go with adding a HD with every CR you gain the form of, by the time you are able to take on a CR 5 creature, if you drop back to your base form, you'd have 9 HD multiplied by your +2 CON, for +18.
Of course, that would sort of be assuming that you drop back to Tiny with the return to your oblex form. As a rule of thumb (don't know of any exceptions off the top), Tiny creatures have d4 HD, Small have d6, Medium d8, Large d10, Huge d12 and Gargantuan d20.
As for disengaging... pour one out for all your dead characters.
It's the sort of thing that I default to not bringing up while running games, as I don't want to overly influence player choice, but I guess I had been operating on the assumption that people knew it existed...

Re: RtMG:E OOC
Disengage also isn't a cure-all for being in melee. Sure, no opportunity attacks, but you can't sprint, so your base movement has to be higher than that of the enemies you're disengaging from, or you need to be running to some present allies, else they'll just catch up with you that turn and hit you anyway. In this case, I'm suggesting it with the hope that you can reach the door and slip out in one move, or get somewhere the mules can't.

Also Gris will be using... 3 hit dice, given how low he is. I'll try and roll when I'm off work, if I remember.

Just as a heads up, I'm headed out of town for a week starting Saturday, I'll still be able to update roughly daily, but won't be able to produce any new statblocks for any forms you take on over that time.
