Re: The gladiators! OOC Apply here for joining the fighting
I don't think I ever allowed it, but it really shouldn't matter too much I guess
I would also you'd rather ask me to change the things since I stole the post and I have access to it (as well as any other moderator). Wears just got the first post making him a convenient victim

((Sorry, figured you'd be cool with it since we haven't technically started yet. Also, do you want me/Mort/Burns to ask you to change stuff too? Or are we allowed to abuse our awesome mod powers too? ))

That wasn't what was bothering me, just the fact they are from non core sources, but I guess they are similar enough that it doesn't matter.
I don't mind if you change stuff, just let me know before hand

Theis, are you waiting on player actions right now, or are we waiting on an update after each person posts?

I thought we were waiting for something to actually come attack us. If not, default action for Jakar is to chill where he is.

Re: The gladiators! OOC Apply here for joining the fighting
I was waiting for people to confirm if they wanted to just stand ready or if they were going to do something right away. I guess I can say that the monsters won't act between the player actions currently

Re: The gladiators! OOC Apply here for joining the fighting
Yeah, I figured something was going to appear at some point in the order still, looks like group 1 is ready to roll now
It also looks like we've largely been split into a martial and magic group (except for wears and spider, I think?). This could be interesting...

Re: The gladiators! OOC Apply here for joining the fighting
Yeah, I noticed that too. Me being in the martial group was just a coincidence though - Theis did the groups before knowing my class (or that I was even interested in joining ).thinkslogically wrote: It also looks like we've largely been split into a martial and magic group (except for wears and spider, I think?). At the very least, assuming we've got similar opponents, we're going to see some very different approaches to this fight....

I'm a martial character at this level. I have small pool of healing and dragon breath, but other than that it's stabbing.

I just noticed that the highest INT score in our group is Rez, with 10. So we're basically Team "hit things and don't think about stuff too hard"

Yes bort, eat the mishrooms, become a fungus person.

I don't know what your problem with the Toadstools is. They're fun guys.
Mostly offline/inactive due to chronic health issues. PM me if you really need attention.

Re: The gladiators! OOC Apply here for joining the fighting
...derp. Was just skimming through the Monk rules again, when I noticed the Martial Arts limitation on Simple Weapons only applies to weapons with "the two-handed or heavy property". There's no mention of being unable to actually use weapons two-handed, just that they cannot have those specific properties.
This is important because Quarterstaff's are Versatile, not two-handed. I figured I'd be forced to use it one-handed if I picked it up, but wielding it two-handed as a Monk is apparently fine by RAW/RAI...
Ah well, at least I know for next time. I'll just say Jakar had a brain-fart and didn't realise that the Quarterstaff was an option (9 INT lol ).

Yes, quarterstaff is just fine for a monk, and is better damage dice than the monk die for a while.

But have you not considered the possibility of using your fists as martial weapons, then dual wield them?

Re: The gladiators! OOC Apply here for joining the fighting
Like I said, I figured I could use it but only one-handed. Didn't stop to consider how common stick-fighting is in real-life martial artsspiderwrangler wrote:Yes, quarterstaff is just fine for a monk, and is better damage dice than the monk die for a while.
Technically I already get that, since I can make an unarmed strike as a bonus action (without the damage penalty too)M0rtimer wrote:But have you not considered the possibility of using your fists as martial weapons, then dual wield them?

How high are the walls, Theis? If Viskek gave Jakar a boost, could he jump over it?

30 ft high, so not really feasible, maybe in another arena

Just wait until I'm 9th level and can run up walls
