My biggest hindrance is trying to balance everything... I have two friends over near Bristol to see, a London friend to see, and Goblins, and my birthday. It's a lot and it sorta is stressing me out lately. I might rethink my birthday and do something more low-key than Romania. Once I have my birthday totally sorted out... then I'll be able to book things.

so are we gonna rent out a hostel or something, getting there won't be that expensive, ( train) but finding a place to sleep might be a hassle more so if it's tourist season
maby if we order us a bunch of rooms in the same place we won't have to worry bout getting lost and finding each other

Hostels always have multiple people per room. I know that not everyone who might be going is comfortable with that.

I'm in a "strongly considering it" phase myself. I'm not worried about meeting strangers, because I know I'm stranger than most.

I talked to Wears and my wife and I would love to do this if I can afford to. So yeah. My wife would be staying home but I'd be going. She has a list of things for me to take pictures of and things to do (like drink an actual cup of British tea...) and I'd personally love to see some museums but generally I'm happy doing whatever other people would like to do. I'd do a pub crawl, sounds fun.

Damn... I really need to figure out my schedule for August... but I won't receive it until end of June/mid July... On a positive note, the economics is in order, have put aside for it....

WELL. I'm working on my birthday plans (I've been reworking them to try and make it less stressful for me... so I'm changing my destination to one that won't require as much effort/change in locations for me).

It looks like I will either re-arrive in London on August 19 or 20. I will be leaving London by August 25.

I don't know the dates anyone else is thinking of.

But, my 30th birthday comes first for me. I've had it planned out for years that I was going to spend it by myself, doing something nice that I would enjoy, and not overly worrying about how much it was going to cost me.

Stupid convention just had to fall on my birthday weekend!

Sorry that they aren't super specific. I'm just trying to ballpark it as no one has anything booked yet. I don't know/remember anything regarding university or work conflicts with people except for my own.

Also you can put in two choices.

I'm leaning towards the end of august as well, That way I'll be sure any re-exams won't be in the way, Hopefully not needed though

Hmm... I'm considering taking the ferry to Harwich from Esbjerg, taking my car with me... would make some things more easy... anyone know about the parking price in London?

Theis, If I end up doing that we may should consider going together... I think that is better price vise.... Don't know if it would be a better choice for some of the others, germans maybe? oh, People from Sweden and Norway would benefit from this I'm sure....

Well, I'm booking my birthday vacation tonight.

I need to talk with my friends in England and know specifically with you guys when you're going to be here, so that I can book my flights to and from Canada - which I need to be doing fairly soonish. I would just up and do it, but if a lot of you would be showing up just before the Con then I would be able to be slightly more relaxed leaving England. My trip home is... quite a journey.

As in:
Leave for Heathrow (no idea when as it depends on where I am).
Arrive at Heathrow about 3 hours before departure as it's international.
Flights from Winnipeg to London (there is always a change over): min. 12 hours.
Wait at Winnipeg for X many hours
Bus at 10pm for 9 hours.

So if I leave on the 25, I arrivve home on the 26 - utterly exhausted and have to then get my class set up. Until the con was announced I wasn't planning on making my last few days in London super rushed! haha.

So... once I know the dates of people who are going, then I can book my flight to take me back to Canada as soon as possible so that I can have much time as possible getting readjusted and sort out my classroom.

It's starting to get near crunch-time for North Americans!

I'm probably not going to attend the con, because I don't really like huge crowds of people and depending on my mood on the day, being around a bunch of Actual Strangers (not you guys; just hordes of other people) will probably make me not much fun to be around. But I will definitely, regardless of the dates, make it down for at least one meet-up. So just basically keep me posted on when people are arriving where.

Ok, it is official: my birthday is booked!

I will be in Iceland for these dates:
August 12 - August 19. I ended up shifting them a day because it was going to save me over â”¬Ãº50 for flight.

And let me tell you... Iceland is EXPENSIVE! Way more pricey than what I remember Norway costing!
