I facepalmed before at the "colors" thing, and I facepalm at it again. OOTS is so close to being a totally awesome, incredibly meaningful story that can be taken completely seriously, but it continues to be anchored to its fluffy beginnings, and this is probably the stupidest aspect that's left in the story after all this Cerberus Effect has scrubbed away all the rest of its early silliness.

What, our physicists explain some elements of microphysics (quantum mechanics) with "spin" (or more correctly, "spin quantum number").
This about as good. Actually better, IMHO.
Especially in view of how physicists start defining and explaining when they go down to even more "basic" principles.
Quarks and Gluons do have a colour charge.

That are some real "idiot physicists".... (because the quantom "colours" have no relation with what our Human brains conceive as the "colours red, green, and blue", and how would you think of "antired, antigreen, or antiblue"?)

So, whatever happens on the plane of Gods, I think it's merely something translated into images which we might be able to understand and interpret.
And may or not may have anything to do with reality of God's Plane's physics.
These colours are part of the issue.

But you're telling me that a bunch of goblins got together to fight back against human adventurers and the very idea that they're just XP fodder, and on the list of proposed names for their new country, "Thuntonia" wasn't even in the top 3?

Weird.
Since in Thuntonia, adventurers go around and consider "Monsters" to be nothing more than a source of XP.
Only recently has this changed for some of the adventurers. (I doubt it has widely spread, since in-comic, only a few weeks have passed since the start of the comic, where Minmax was absolutely sure than the sole purpose of Monsters are XP for adventurers)

Nope, I don't find it that astonishing.

(But would've been a nice recognition of a comic with a similar theme. Maybe in a few years, when the Thuntonian Greenies are freer from adventurer raids than they are now. - But maybe Thunt Ellipsis can rename theGoblin tribe, or give the Chief of the Clan of the Cryptic Falls not a crown, but a Redcloak. (Although some might interpret that as a nod to little red riding hood.))

I only found Goblins because of a "Goblin Solidarity" t-shirt that GitP and Goblins used to sell. IIRC, it featured Complains, Redcloak and someone from Erfworld (IDK, I never read that one). So Goblins has gotten a nod in the past.

Usually, that's what I have my wife for.
Alas, she's utterly disinterested in stuff flike fantasy, sci-fi, or similar, but can watch shows like anything on "The Learning Channel" (better known as TLC). Ugh.
But opposites attract, or at least I pretend it to be so.

But say thanks to your son, I think he's right.
Gotta read up on that, but currently binge reading Schlock (as that one just finished, and I'm going through the twenty years of archived dailies).

Well, if there's no cooperation, the Gods said they'd rather start anew (again), instead of risking anything.

But now they know new "colours" are possible, and they will be inclined to set starting parameters such, that a new "colour" might spawn more easily...

I'm also happy that strip number 1212 is one of the best ones we've had for a while. Jokes about "big round numbers" notwithstanding, I do like to notice amusing coincidences in the numbering system.

Huh. I wonder who this new character with the cape and crown is.

obviously, I'm kidding. But you have to admit, Big X has been gone from the storyline for so long that casual readers could easily have forgotten him, or at least some of the details about him.

Incidentally, I don't know if this was added a while back, but as of today I notice that the title of the strip is at the bottom of the page, a feature which I'm sure wasn't always present on the website, and which is a great additional convenience when reading.
