There is a new page. It has things on it. No candles though. Not much happens.

Kind of an interesting choice to not show the puzzle at all! I guess the goal is to focus us on these characters, and also helping us feel their frustration with the puzzles - like ‘ugh, well, maybe there’s something about the colors? It doesn’t matter, just another crazy room.’

That could be cool if the relationships were interesting but instead everyone’s most annoying and/or boring tendencies are being showcased and I’m left wishing I had a chance to see the puzzle.

Another interesting thing: I know that the story is ‘planned out’ in some sense, but it’s surprising to me that Elli is scripting the pages as they’re drawn. If she had had this page written when she was drawing the page before last, she would have caught Bowst saying ‘what’ before publishing.

I don’t know the industry standard here but writing the dialogue one page at a time seems like a really hard way to do it. You can’t edit the scene as a whole, just individual moments. Pacing, the rate at which the audience gets new info, even setting up blocking and stuff like that - must be tough to do this way.

You know what? I had the same thought. It's a very strange thing to stumble into if things are laid out ahead of time.

I think that is the case: Ellipsis tendency to leave every page with a gag (we rarely see anything take place over two or more pages) makes me think she just kind of has the framework in place, and makes pages as she goes, vaguely going in the direction of her plot.

And if this is your point, I think so as well. I think if she had a well worked out plan for the future, we would have some sense of how close these characters are to the exit, what they need to do when they have escaped, some urgency of where Kore is or something akin to that.

is this page supposed to be a jab at us, the readers, complaining about the lack of plot happening?

Haha, it feels that way. ‘Oh you want to see something about the stakes and circumstances of the story? No, you get three months of Three Stooges gags and you won’t even see the candles they’re talking about.’

She’s also just posted something about how people are confused about why Bowst punched himself in the face so here’s a reminder. it does feel like she’s trolling us.

The puzzle was (kinda) seen 2 pages back:

Still, it would've been nice to see some progression and/or more details of the dungeon/puzzle.
We get an abundance of details for the characters, but currently the backgrounds turned "bland".
(which is, per se, not a bad development, should increase page finishing speed.)

The "yawn" as a title for this page fits.

With all the real-life drama going on, the story speed is glacial. And some glaciers might consider this downplaying their speed.

Now I want a page filled with nothing by these characters getting punched in the mouth. :D

If it's a trolling, I am here for it. Things would liven up if a collage of mouth punches and eye pokes ensues. Then it's a STATEMENT and I would truly enjoy it.

Does Chief putting his own eye out with the pointy stick qualify? :D Idle poking MinMax certainly does. MinMax killing with his thumb probably does not, as it's not slap-stick enough.
