A side gag stretched into a whole page

The 5/12 ratio is actually pretty good! I am not saying it's a good sign, but it's a good ratio!


I am just... Baffled. Why MinMax bothers with Bowst. I mean... He just created a complete realm to honour lost friends, Forgath in particular. Now Forgath is back, but we see him playing grabass with the other meathead instead of speaking with Forgath?

Actually. I like that joke.
Minmax (the player) knows he's been being stupid by ignoring his INT stat.
Now he did stack something in there, he found another player lacking INT, and is having his stabs at that player, like he had been the target of the stabs before.

"defusional".... A real "old-Minmax-joke"...

Sure. It might work on it's own: I mean, it IS a joke. But for a whole page? Also, did we really cut from the emotional scene between MinMax and Forgath to this joke?

Also:

I am really afraid of lifting this, as Elli will have to reword OR redraw this page, and I really feel she should focus on other things.
But... Did Bowst forget that he is cursed to punch himself whenever he says "what"?

Good catch. She intends to "clean up the page, shade,..." therefore I do expect Elli to be able to change the text a bit.

I would prefer a faster update speed than fully shaded pages...

Ooh man, good memory. I always felt those curses were a dangerous mix of ‘wacky’ and ‘extremely disturbing’ with little regard for how they would inform these new characters and this feels like confirmation that they were added a bit thoughtlessly.

No post reflecting on meeting the GFM goal so far.

also, 10h ago (as of this post), Elli acknowledged that she knows the "what" in Panel 3 has to go, and she wants to correct it "today".
Her "today" already ended in the meantime. The text may have been corrected, but it's not updated yet, likely because the shading isn't complete yet.

Not so much as a good memory, as is there is little to Bowst apart from that. Overall, Bowst has very little going for him (as do ThAC0 nowadays). Most exciting thing with him is to keep track of his word balloons. One could very easily cut out Bowst all together from this story. I guess he was there to remind people that Idle fucks regulary.

If arm getting a wrong color is something to point out in this page then what about the backgrounds? Even when the character turns around in panel 4 or we look at them from another angle in the last panel we continue to see the same corner of the room. And saying it makes sense would be a stretch already in panel 2 compared to how characters are positioned in panel 1.

Meh, might as well discuss the place. Six levers on the wall and several shadows of bodies on the floor. Since one group came from one side and the other from the other I conclude they won't backtrack anywhere and will go somewhere from the room they are in. Kin will solve the puzzle about which lever to pull in order not to get incinerated, rabbit girl will be like "omg ur so cool lets be besties tee hee". Unless levers were for opening the round door.

The backgrounds seem okayish to me.
From Panel 2 onwards, Bowst marks the strong man, he's the one indicating that "this conversation has ended" by turning around, away from Minmax. Extremely unpolite, but intentional by Bowst in this case.
in panels 4,5 Bowst starts looking back at Minmax, being lured by his sense of superiority having seen the armour's colour...
Hence, the camera is more or less in the same position and direction panels 2-6 (hence the same background being correct, IMHO), in panel 7 the position slightly changes.

All of that sounds more interesting than MinMax farting around.

I still have no idea how close they are to getting out, so them finding any way to progress does not really matter.

If Bowst can't rely on his perception anymore, how can he be sure he felt a friendship connection to Forgath? (which is also a perception)
And if that is potentially untrue (and his jealousy will make it feel like it once Minmax and Forgath team up again), Bowst might break.

In such a story-wise element, a whole page is warranted.
But we won't know until we get to see Bowst break.

Read this page again, and thought "nice and mean by Minmax. Undermining Bowst's trust in himself", and then the memory of the prophecy hit me again)

His name is Bowst, but the prophecy is Bowstrings. Maybe it is "Bowst rings break, they are unreliable"? (We don't know what Bowst is hiding under his gloves, does he have magic rings?)

Otherwise this joke works only in written form... (as orally you'd make the syllable separation recognisable)

I would put money on Bapuvitttssf‘s interpretation being the correct one, it’s ‘clever’ in a way that fits this comic. I definitely thought that when I read it. Either he has a bunch of cursed magic rings under his gloves or they’ll end up in a puzzle room where they have to rely on Bowst to ring a series of fragile bells.
