Time for Biscuit.
And a tea, please!

(Elli wanted this page to be posted on Sat, but alas.

Let's hope she'll meet her September target.
That would be awesome.)

Well, I scrolled back to the page before to check, and yes, the red-devil costume held a bag with boxes with those biscuits in the page before.
And we already knew that Biscuit likes biscuits.

Elli wishes to note, that the costumed person is an adult. (tweet spoilered for size)

Ah, OK. I thought it was a kid, too. I was going to say that was pretty dark.

Yeah, it gave too much of a Halloween vibe.

If that is so important, the easiest way to avoid people thinking that it was a kid would have been to give the cookie-bearer some adult feature (facial hair for instance, like that lute player from page 10).

I think story-wise it won't impact, since they're all dead in the village now.

I think it's just about morality that even in stories kids shouldn't die.
However problematic that is, especially in stories where it's about senseless death to impart the feeling of dangerousness....

I’m sorry, this is so strange.

That is a kid. If it’s not a kid, no effort at all was made to make it look or act like an adult, so any reader would see it as an adult. If it matters to make it an adult for any reason, that effort should go into clarity in the work, not a tweet. Why would you tweet rather than clarify? If it matters for the story (it won’t) it should be clear in the story. If it matters because violence to children is difficult for some people, it should be clear to anyone reading the story. The only motivation for this move would be attempting to escape criticism on Twitter. Right? What else could it be?

I'm particularly confused about it not being a kid, since it (he?) looks about the same size as the goblins. And the cookie bucket that was normal sized in the human's hand is miniature in Biscuit's hand. Shouldn't an adult human be closer in size to Biscuit? :?

Looked like a kid, behaved like a kid, did irish/american coded kid stuff, got killed by a huge monster in a comic where kids already have been killed by huge monsters.

Yeaaaah... That is a kid. Give me that head to body ratio in what I assume is a human, and I will read it as a 5 year old. Also, this person seems about the same size as the gobbos at 3-4 feet.
That is a kid, unless it's a halfling.
You won't sleep when you're dead either.

My five cents, which won't matter much:

art-wise: the red devil is "well rounded" for a kid, a belly which form-wise appears more often with adults.
the female next to him does NOT look like a five-year old. She is at least adolescent (when looking at my son's classmates, I see a lot of girls who are that thin, but no boys with such a belly - the "fatties" are differently rounded - and I do not intend any body-shaming, this is meant as a way to express my observations, the dads like myself have such front-loaded bellies).

With the basket with biscuits you do have a point. While Biscuit is large, he has not been portrayed as gigantic yet.

The perspective of the late evening on https://www.goblinscomic.com/comic/page-10-2024 does not help Elli's point either. These two are standing so far in the front, that I assumed they are kids strolling a bit further away from direct supervision.
And the others on the bridge do not seen to be costumed other than "a night out", but definitely not "hell-themed".
They also don't carry sweets/biscuits/... baskets around.

In conclusion I would say the art is at least ambiguous. But I would also come to the conclusion that they're older kids being allowed to wander around on a festive evening.

(And I am not in an American Halloween tradition, I don't see this immediately as a "halloween-style" event, but indeed, this seems to be very close to the intention.)

And it's not a halfling, since Dies Horribly specifically stated that this is a bridge to a Human-made town, and the two costumed NPCs stated that they are from that village. Granted, human-made does not exclude human-made but halfling-inhabited, but I saw no other indication of Halfling-styles.

And actually that the kids will die I consider to be fully within the horrors to be portrayed in this comic. This "spirit gone wrong" ("Junior") is a horror monster.
More so than Mr. Fingers who triggers more the subconscious horror, but Junior is a horror for those thinking it through.
Imagine a monster who heals itself by drinking blood (and further gets stronger from it), and is already very strong.
Before you know how dangerous that thing is, you're too much in the battle to escalate it enough for overwhelming power on your side. And once you're in battle, and blood will keep it surviving, healthy, and even strengthening. And which will go for ANY and ALL blood.
And this is well portrayed by also killing the kids.

I don't expect many survivors in the village, personal expectance is zero.

Yeah, I was thinking the same beginning of last week.
4 a month means one a week... (a tad less).
Once she misses a complete week, the target is gone...

Yeah, but that was somewhat foreseeable.
Alas more enthusiasm, than planning.

Okay, life throws spanners, tell me about it.
But last month was somewhat stable for Elli.
Then either achieve the plan, or start thinking about how to get to results "good enough"...

But artists should not publish before they themselves are happy, which makes being perfectionists a hard thing when wanting to live off the art...

Also:
Tonight: Elli starts streaming again.
(I am in Europe, so I will miss it)

Okay, to keep things here.

Regarding "that's a kid":
Elli got a tweet from someone:
Image
her reply:

and a
no.

And life throwing spanners into the plan of 4 pages/months:
tweet about trying to get June a "Canadian Status" for being with Elli.
and her computer hard drive died, which means she did lose work and time. But at least the computer still works.

Oh, and some other things are on her bsky profile, which can now finally also be checked with a PC.
For example:
