"Where, I don't see anything?", the farmer hisses at Slem.

There is a rustle as something scurries past behind him, causing him to jump, and the dog to whine a soft growl in his throat.

Sluj is able to keep pace with the farmer and Slem, and Gomz and Fred would know the direction they were traveling, though visual is cut off by the corn stalks, the glow of the lantern is visible to those with sight. And the farmer isn't being particularly stealthy at this point.

Underslem makes some noise and heads towards the teehee quickly waving the farmer along.

The 'teeheeing' grows louder and you can hear multiple voices, eventually emerging into a bit of a cleared area, with a dozen... no thirteen small figures cavorting in the moonlight around a very large gourd that has been rolled to the base of a scarecrow's pole. The gourd is carved with a jolly laughing face, though no lantern has been lit within it. The children have trampled the corn down in a 15 ft radius around the scarecrow and gourd, and are skipping back and forth in intricately chaotic patterns.

As one, they halt simultaneously, heads rotating to face Slem and the farmer, bodies rotating slowly to match.

"Shhhh... we have visitors... *teehee*", they say, simultaneously.

"Umm... alright, kids, you've had your fun... ah, I'll be taking m-my gourd back now..."

((The rest of the party, other than Sluj, is 60+ feet back, so as not to have spooked the farmer.))

<Fourteen! Come quick, circle around the back if you can! To the light.>

"These are the small kids? I will hold your lantern and you can go retrieve your goorad."

He extends his hand to take the lantern from the farmer and, if he gets it, will move it around to light up the corn a bit to signal the others.

"Remain where you are small kids, it is most safe to stay near the man on the pole!"

((I hate children of the corn. Freaking scary.))

<<Watch out! Coming through!>>
He makes a loud noise as he charges, severed corn stalk flying into the air with his passage. HIIIIISSSSSSSS!!!

Miasma sees the light and goes through the yum yum tube stalks. They look for the light of underslim and wait for the others.

((I'll say he's topped off... too much time has passed for me to want to go back and parse things out!))
((M0rt's not posted in this thread since the end of August, so I'm assuming he's not going to be joining in...))

The farmer seems a lot less sure about how important it is to get his gourd back, when confronted by a baker's dozen of creepy children. He doesn't have a whole lot of time to mull things over, before a scuttling monstrosity plows through the field in the form of Scorpi-Gomz.

"AAIIIIEEEE! What is that!?"

The dog whines and presses itself up against the farmer's leg, piddling down his trousers.

Gomz having firmly established himself as the threat, the children turn and swarm towards him, short blades of inky darkness manifesting in each hand. Five of the vacant eyed horrors slash at him, though most bounce off the hard exoskeleton, those that hit sear into him.

((I think Sluj is at the very bottom of the initiative and Spider is rolling it as people move.))

"Shoot the kids! Shoot the kids!"

It then runs forward uses burning hands in a way that causes the flame to fall short of Gomz but to get as many of the little things as possible in the 15 foot cone.

((They need to make DC12 dex saves or take:
Burning hands on creepy kids: 3D6 = [3, 1, 4] = 8

Half on success.))

Miasma will charge at the closest kid, moving in a way as to get a running start.

1d20+5 = [2] = 7 4d6+3 = [5, 3, 2, 1] = 14

Miasma is starting to think thier form is defective.

Slem is able to catch four of them in his flames, only one of which is able to make any attempt at dodging, but to no avail as they are washed with flames.
Four empty skins fall smoldering to the ground like empty sacks of flour as dark mist streams out of the facial orifices of the children Slem hit. The dark mist swirls around and into the nostrils of the remaining children... they seem to grow a bit larger and more robust...

The farmer shrieks in startled surprise at everything going on, and wets himself as a reaction as now parts of the dry corn stalks start to catch flame.

Miasma the giant boar charges onto the scene alongside Gomz, eliciting yet another startled shriek from the poor farmer.

((Form isn't defective, RNG fairy just knew that Miasma was farther than 40 ft away, so would have to use their action to dash! If you'd rather, you can have stopped 20+ feet away, and be able to charge next turn.))

((Fred, I don't think had posted about moving closer, if you were by the portal, you'd only really be able to dash this turn, but would arrive on scene after using movement next turn. Sluj had been sneaking along, so can do whatever they'd like this turn.))
