Probably. To be honest, the moment we were given the exposition of that cloth, I instantly set it aside and forgot about it. Unless they use that property of the cloth to fool an enemy at some point it's totally useless information. Apart from explaining Thacos cool new look.
My guess is that Elli filtered that out as well.

We can vaguely see his eyebrows through it, so it may be that the cloth's pretty thin, and he can see enough to about avoid hitting things, but not much else.
