Re: The Sundered Way
And just as well. You're pretty sure that it's going to be a stench you'll be catching whiffs of for days to come, but in the moment, you're able to call upon your past training and push it from your immediate mind.
----
Galt huffs at the smell, before turning his head and holding his breath, as Ulmwin wisely moves away.

Nem spots the reaction from the guys at the well and pulls her scarf over her mouth and nose a little.

Re: The Sundered Way
Luckily Galt manages to keep his last meal down, and keep hold of the rope, as Dornikal's fingers fail him and he stumbles away, dry heaving at the stench. It's gotten MUCH worse since he and Benjo first pulled up that bit of skin...
The big half-orc hauls the body over the lip of the well, and from Randy's position far below, the point of light far above is no longer blocked by a dripping, rotten corpse.
"You gonna be alright?", Galt asks as he works on untying the sling, readying the rope to send back down for Randy. "Someone mind hauling that thing downwind from camp?"
"ROPE!"
The long coil of rope snakes down, splashing in the middle of well as Randy stays off near his sword to the side.

Ulmwin is nowhere to be found as Galt asks for volunteers to drag the corpse away. He's doing very important bard things just out of sight, no doubt.

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy quickly secures himself with the rope, tying a fairly snug loop under both arms. Once this is done, he gives the horn a blow, concentrating on Dornikal again. He also gives the rope two good yanks to emphasis the point. He then pulls the sword out of the wall and dangles on the rope waiting for the crew up top to start pulling him up.

Re: The Sundered Way
Galt looks over to Tess and nods. "Good idea, they'll make dragging the body out of camp much easier."
Dornikal hears the horn sound in his head in between dry heaves, but manages to fight back against his queasiness and gets to his feet.
As the rope tugs in Galt's hand, "You good preacher? Think our friend would like to be topside again."

The voice of the gnome pops up from behind one of the caravans for just a moment, as he apparently simply couldn't resist: "Yeah Tess, great idea!"
If anyone comes looking, he's looking over the busted wheel he mended not too long ago... Got to make sure the magic sticks!

Zephyr offers to haul the body off somewhere. She borrows the smell good gem back and sets it off repeatedly under her nose as she drags the body away from the camp.

Maji holds his breath and quickly secures a rope to tie the blanket. He pulls on it to make sure its secure before turning into a komoto dragon/giant lizard to pull the corpse far away.

Dornikal wipes his mouth,
"That was foul. Aye, let's pull him up. Heard the horn again."
Dornikal starts helping drag Randy up.
((If it matters:
Ath: Pulling Randy up: 1D20+6 = [9]+6 = 15
))

Re: The Sundered Way
When Randy feels the rope tighten up, he sheaths the sword and puts his feet on the wall and walks up the wall. He breathes a (shallow) sigh of relief to be leaving this rather hellish place behind.

"Yes, I'm ready to go down and de-foul the water.
Once I'm down there, it'll take a long time. It's bad..and I'm going to have to cast rituals, so it'll be a while, don't worry about me unless I tug the rope or scream."
He is still wearing the cape of the manta ray, and will have his light stone readied.

Re: The Sundered Way
At a much slower, non-emergency pace, a somewhat tired pair of rope haulers drag Randy to the surface.
Coljin is ready to go down, and after a brief respite, they lower him to just above the water level, having marked the length of rope needed.
Randy reeks.
((It'll take Coljin a good chunk of the night to finish the job, so the rest of you have the day off unless your involved in that effort, so let me know if there is something you want to be doing besides avoiding bring downwind of Randy.))

Ulmwin offers to try and use prestidigation to help Randy get rid off the awful smell- For everyone's sake.
...Probably gonna take several casts and this might be a bit too extreme for the spell though.

Maji will druidcraft a smell of citris, centered on Randy.
Also he'll rewrite where the location of the giant spider is.

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy, looking like a half drowned cat (and smelling like a full drowned polecat) looks grateful at the offer from Ulmwin and Maj. "Anything would help." He heads to the downwind side of camp and out a little way so that he doesn't offend anyone's sense of smell anymore than necessary.
