Christmas in July, eh? Or... June, I guess. Not really something done in my area, since I'm in the 90% the country that doesn't snow regardless. Well, there's a little time until I'm done with exams before I can dedicate the hour or so I need to put together an update.

I feel like this update may be a bit shoddy, but I spent pretty much my entire afternoon and evening getting a $1400 piece of technology to work and thinking I'd just thrown away all my money, so I'm not in a particularly great mood, though it's working now.

So a while ago I wrote out a brief description of the 4/5 large organisations in Letrua. Maybe interesting information for some of you, so I'll provide it here. It's written in-character, because it's easier for me to provide with proper detail this way.

I can't give you an exact power ranking, but along with the Arena there are the Hunters and Guards, who I mentioned earlier, and the fourth is the Academy.
You're already aware the Arena works as a training ground for combatants, and there's some preparation for work beyond the Wall in the form of contracts.

The Hunters practically live beyond the Wall, thinning out the populations of demonbeasts in the ruins to keep them from flooding the Wall. They only come back into Letrua to report information, bring in captured demonbeasts for us, sell resources they can't use, or buy more supplies.

The Guard is stationed on the Wall itself, and pick off any problems that get past the Hunters. They're often the intermediaries for interacting with the Hunters. They prepare the supplies for delivery, they buy what the Hunters sell, and often resell it themselves, and they decide what to do with their reports. If it's necessary to contact the Hunters, it's the Guard who does it.

And finally is the Academy, which will take a bit more explaining than the others. They're a gathering focused more on academic studies, as opposed to the other three who are combat oriented. They're mostly enchanters, but they do accept other academics, even if they're regarded as one step below the enchanters. Some people scoff at the idea of the Academy being a major power, until they realise we'd have none of the luxuries we do without them. Plumbing, heating and cooling, construction, agriculture, none of it would be nearly so advanced without the Academy. Technically, Tor and Marie are members of the Academy as well as the managers of the Arena. Tor is more focused on the Arena, while Marie focuses mostly on research, but they're both members of both organisations.

You get why ranking them is hard, right? Without the Arena the Guard and Hunters would have far more casualties. Without the Hunters the Arena wouldn't have demonbeasts to train against, and the Guard would have far more threats to deal with. Without the Guard, the Hunters would have to invest more resources in acquiring supplies and selling excess resources, and the Arena would have to handle the security transporting live demonbeasts from the Wall as well as making contact with the Hunters. The Academy is the only one not involved in that loop, but they're key in developing pretty much every aspect of society. In fact, since they sometimes improve weaponry, they're probably the most important.

Now, don't go repeating that list to anybody without one important clarification. Regardless of how the four are ranked, they're under the aristocracy, the families who've built up significant amounts of money and reputation. The aristocrats set the rules and taxes, and they manage the welfare for people who hit hard times. They organise maintenance of road and buildings, they plan new constructions, handling all the administrative work and handing out the jobs to the workers. Between you and me, though, their main job is arguing with one another, and the other four use their influence to encourage the right choices from the aristocracy when there's a big choice. But if an aristocrat thinks you've slighted them they'll make a fuss, and that's always annoying, so take care to show them proper respect.

Also, I've not seen anything from the exploration party on their intentions on exploring the cave or continuing their trek?

So, I know it's been a little while since I updated, and I do intend to keep going, but lately uni's just been assignment after assignment after assignment, and I haven't been feeling up to taking the time required for a proper update. So I've been on holiday for a little while now, about a week or so. But updating for two people feels kind of... Lacklustre, so I've been waiting on either Spider or Gathers, but it seems like we're not getting any more posts. Should I just go ahead?
