Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
Since it's only a question of time to get everything ready, I might as well check for any interest.
Mist is a kind-of-storytelling game without any specific rules. You play as a character, who went to sleep or otherwise lost consciousness and found themselves in a strange dreamlike world. You will have to explore this world and find a way to leave it or decide to stay there. There are many things to do, including exploration, social interactions, research, dungeon raiding and saving the world. You may find something else still. There is a sort of magic as well.
If you want to play, I would need a more-than-brief description of your character's personality. The only restriction is they must be human. Otherwise you are free to choose any setting your character comes from or whoever they were in their world.
This might look secondary to Potential, but I hope it wouldn't.

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
This could be pretty interesting. I think I'd like to play an inquisitive character, interested in exploring and understanding the dream-world.
I have no idea what I'm doing, and IT IS GLORIOUS!

No problem, this is getting barely any interest anyway.

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
I'm interested, I just haven't been around the last couple days, been feeling a little crappy. I do like the look of it though - just need to think up a "person" to apply with

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
how long will the posts/update be? It sounds promissing, but on the other hand it might end up being too much text for me and I will get lost behind.

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
Don't worry, it would take longer for me to write them. And it's not like I would instantly become good at narrating, so posts probably won't be long enough.
As for player posts, don't worry, I would have to read those too.

How many players are you thinking about allowing? In this sort of game having too many PCs can really f up the story.

No less than 3, I think. It may change though. But I'm not going to GM just for one person, that would be quite underwhelming.

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
My experience is that 5 is a good minimum for most kinds of games, as some times some are absent, on holidays, or just quit suddenly. It is also a good number to encourage roleplay in the group without somebody being left out.
I'm interessted, but have no idea for a char yet. I think I will create him once you got a teaser/prolog story.

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
I would go for more than 3 players, but I'm trying to be realistic.
What do you expect from a teaser/prologue? It's a difficult skill not to just write an infodump on a setting, and certainly not the skill I have.
A seasonal allergy impeding my thinking is not helping me here, so the setup phase is unlikely to finish this month.

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
A quick summary of events leading to the current situation the group is in and infos about a general world setup.
Like in Magically dissapeared:
"There was a group of humans all through society to be send with Merlin into his magical realm to build up a base, but something went wrong. Whereever they ended up, there are magical creatures only know from fairy tales and myths, but Merlin was gone. They build a village, gathered food and fought some minor battles so far, and learned about a powerful being that might be a god that actually responds to prayers."

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
I don't know what I can say in addition to what I said in the first post: some people find themselves in this strange realm, usually after they fall asleep. If it doesn't qualify as what you were expecting, please tell me why exactly.

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
Is it rather a different dimension, a dream world, or something else where even physics might have changed or magic might exists,
or is it just another time and space, so basic stuff is the same as before?

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
I think part of the idea is you don't know that info and you have to find out. I think GC is purposefully being cryptic so the setting can be mysterious rather than infodumping and losing all mystery.

Not wanting to give us those infos also would be some kind of info.

Re: Mist, a freeform roleplaying game
I was thinking about this some more and realized that my concept is too weak content-wise and I have built the setting in a way that makes it too vague to expand on. I don't think this can go anywhere. I would probably salvage what I can into a completely different setting I was working on in parallel. This another setting is a monumental system- and world-building task that is nowhere near being done.
I apologise if I let anyone down, I have a history of doing that.

Ech, no big deal really. I think (I can't really remember) that we've all done things like this.
