Asked the people in the chat if I should do a piece with these characters or a demony succubus babe. They went with the latter, the leches:

OI! Just because I don't care for Warhammer and this was the only other option you gave...

I must say that your art does look good. You ever try and draw for a book or a company?

I do the occasional commission here and there. Mostly band work. I'd obviously like to draw for a book or something like that, but that requires me getting the guts up to send my portfolio off :P

You say "demony babe," and I think, "Sexy demon... That's a succubus!"

If and when they come out with a DnD 4.5 or DnD 5, you should totally submit some artwork. And thus your name would be spread, assuming anyone still buys 4.0 :)

Base sketch for one of those elaborate paintings.
Image

Plunked some colour on it. Still got some aspects that need tweaking. I doodled the pencil stuff this is painted over while watching a movie at my mom's place so it's a little wonky in places.
Image

Think I have everything where I want it. Debating on whether I should put in some enemies on the edges, but we'll see what happens.

Posting all these mid-works is just as good as an art process, so none is needed unless you want to :) these suffice just fine.

Heh, thanks. And yeah, it's a good deal more likely that I'll do some work in progress shots than a full video. My work process is usually always a combination of the following:

1. Sketch, either with pencils or just straight into phtoshop. These are always greyscale or colerase.
2. Black and white rough. In this part I flesh out where I want stuff in the painting to be exactly, and get all the rough things into place. In some cases this part goes quite far, and ends up with a detailed black and white piece. This depends on my mood, and what works best with the piece in question.
3. Colour rough, using hue-altering layers. This will usually be some mixture of putting down a sepia colour layer, and then putting down an overlay layer ontop with the colours I want for different parts. This part also takes a varied amount of time.
4. Rendering. This is where I flatten the whole business and start just painting on it with a hard round brush. This is by far the thing that takes the most time in almost all of my pieces.
5. Effects and colour/levels. In this last step I do any effects like fire, or lightning. Sometimes I have roughed out the effects earlier, keeping them on a seperate layer. I then use colour correcting tools in photoshop along with levels and other adjustment layers to make sure that the colours and lighting work right in terms of guiding the eye around the painting.
6. Tendonitis :P

Goddammit...I can't take that level of badass coming from that picture in one sitting...and I don't think you're even done with it...
Oh, and I can relate to step 6 :P I ceartainly don't draw as well, but after drawing, typing, and playing guitar, my arm at the end of the day is usually ready to fall off, it feels like.

I should note that I forgot a step which is sorta step zero: studies and thumbnail sketches. This is where I try to figure out what the image is gonna look like in rough terms, by doing loads of tiny sketches. Quick way of figuring out what just plain won't work.

Also, I found a new step today in which your photoshop will mysteriously reset itself to factory standard and you will lose all your custom brushes, so you have to track them all down and reinstall them. This is not a fun step.

Alright, I got most of my brushes back in place. Huzzah. This piece is still on-going.

This is about halfway through the fourth step. I've rough-rendered all the characters, so now it's mainly a question of adding detail and making sure the image flows.

Oh, I know this step. It is right after the "let's start doing some serious work" step, and just before "where did I put my pendrive with the back-up downloads" step.

Art looks awesome as usual, I guess we will have to only comment this if it changes... :D

Heh, well, I won't say that I don't enjoy the ego-stroking. Most artists are, after all, just little children showing off their poop.

Anyway, did a bit of work on the effects of the piece. Played with some new fire-based brushes.

This is mostly a self-promoting post. I made a commission-thread (Thunt authorized of course) over in the artist alley. Please go and have a look at it for your arty needs. I needs the money, and I'm too ugly for porn.

Could you provide a link? And I'm sorry your budding pornstar carreer didn't take off :( and Jesus Jetskiing Christ, that's awesome. Do you ever do paid commissions? That'd be an easy way to make money, I think, in exchange for giving up your creativity. I'm only getting paid like $30 to do the recent drawings I've done, but I think you'd get a little more :P

Got one commission I'm working on, so I don't have much time to work on my own pieces, though I did get to doodle a bit more on this one.

Well I'm happy other people are having you do commissions, I can't seem to pool enough money for something awesome :( maybe some day. And, jesus, now you're adding people getting incinerated? I thought that picture was done and as epic as it could get but guess I was terribly wrong...

So! I took a good look at this painting, and decided that the lighting was dull and boring. So I decided to change it up and have it coming in from the top right with slightly more shadow and contrast. Still working my way through the image to sort everything out, but I'm liking the results so far :)

Also, as I work on the details, I figure I'll toss up a few close up shots, as this is a fairly high res painting. So here's the first one:
