I had no idea about that... Ears was supposed to die?Krulle wrote:Just piping in to remind you all that in the original layout of the GAp, Ears would've been dead by now (Brassmoon fights). For some reason THunt decidded to let Ears live, as it would not matter to the story. So letting Ears die in an act of sacrifice later would fit the story well.
My main question is what role the Axe of Prissan is playing, or would have been playing if Ears had died... There is no Paladin in the group which could've claimed the Axe.

Re: Things You Never Noticed Before
It could have been something as simple as one of the other characters (or one we never really met) was intended to be a paladin (and the one to interact with the axe), and after letting Ears live, that class was a better fit for how Thunt wanted to write him and was shifted.

Ears was supposed to die fighting the drow in the warcamp, as I recall.

Could be. I didn't remember when exactly he was intended to die.
Thanks for correcting me.

But it was a change very early in the writing process. It's hard to say just how fleshed out the story was at that point.

Re: Things You Never Noticed Before
So basically he and One Eye both would've kicked it? Or was One Eye a late addition meant to be Ears's tragic backstory? Either way, I'm glad he changed his mind. Ears is probably one of my faves now that Chief is gone.Knucklekraken wrote:Ears was supposed to die fighting the drow in the warcamp, as I recall.

But when was the change made? If early in the writing processes rather than the drawing process, it may not have been fleshed out.Krulle wrote:The story was fleshed out even before he started drawing...Zathyr wrote:But it was a change very early in the writing process. Re: Things You Never Noticed Before
Not entirely true. The first few pages were drown before the story was written, and even as it took form there's a difference between knowing the general framework of the story and having it all written out. Even now there's still some wiggle room for bits of dialogue and such. Some scenes are written out now very specifically, and others are less so.Krulle wrote:The story was fleshed out even before he started drawing...Zathyr wrote:But it was a change very early in the writing process. So, we know that Big Ears is not critical to the story. He may be in details, like the fight against Saral Caine, but the general story line is unaffected by Big Ears. And therefore likely to be unaffected by the Axe.

Re: Things You Never Noticed Before
Saral Caine wielded the ax in spite of not being a paladin, so it is possible the ax is story critical, but would have originally been a surprise to the GAP had Ears died in Book I.
Perhaps Saral Caine obtained the Cryptic Falls Crown as a member of The Adventurers of Brassmoon City

Re: Things You Never Noticed Before
I don't think we know that at all. All we know is that he wasn't critical to the story as it was originally concieved, and we definintely don't know that the Axe won't be critical to the story. For all we know another one of the characters was originally going to be a paladin, making the Axe just as critical as it is now, and/or Big Ears is taking on other story elements that were originally intended for another character. Hell, I hate to say this, but maybe he was brought in to make Chief expendable.Krulle wrote:So, we know that Big Ears is not critical to the story. Anyway, my thing I never noticed before (and I'll have to pull up the links later) is that Young and Beautiful originally had a vision of three adventurers attacking the Goblins Warcamp--not five, she specifically says three. Then she hands out character sheets for MinMax, Forgath and Bainwrath (or something like that--one of the drow anyway). It isn't anything big, but it was something that kind of confused me.
Keeping this up until the Kore mystery is resolved: paladins do not get their powers from deities, and D&D does not operate on subjective morality.

Re: Things You Never Noticed Before
She has also said that the village will be attacked, she does not mention the war-camp being attacked. Both of these content-errors may be because the first few b/w pages are "special".Panel 4 wrote:Tomorrow our village will be attacked by three adventurers!
They have been re-texted and coloured in the published graphic novels. Can anyone check there please if the text has been corrected for the content?

I suppose that's just a flub on Thunt's part, I don't recall it mentioned.

Something I am noticing during a re-read Tayshun, the dude with the cloak, gets it snagged here http://www.goblinscomic.org/10122006/
Later when the GAP tris to get into GS's home they carry a wooden beam up to his house which still has a piece of cloth attached to it here http://www.goblinscomic.org/02102007/ fourth panel.
That is pretty awesome.

Orzahn: Good catch, we missed that one for ages until anyone noticed. Now is it just me, or is Complains' head a wee bit...out of proportion in the lowest left panel here?

Probably not a groundbreaking discovery, but I can't recall this mentioned before
Edit: wow, now I feel slowpokey cause the only reason Grem was so eager to get into that dungeon is that

In that panel, Thac0 is at Forgath's mercy, slumped into the tree much like MM is slumped into the wall. Since Fumbles is the group's apparent conscience (see him turning around to help Chief), he is the one most likely to return the favour.BuildsLegos wrote:See WHAT? (In the spoiler, that is)
