TURN 69

Having writhed about like a cockroach on it back in the sun after the dimensional floor event Costa picks up his fire heart once again and goes back to tossing it up and down.

Steals finally remembers he got a statue from the water room, and digs it out of his inventory along with his last anger berry. Examining the statue a little more closely he rereads the engraving which said "Praise the she goblin, for she protects." He also notices the statues are nearly identical - a female goblin holding a bow and a book, wearing a veil. The only differences are on his statue she her eyes are closed like she is asleep and her dress has a pattern which looks to be a continuous squiggle or as he turns it about maybe/ possibly lots of eights end to end.
Not seeing much extra he devours his last anger berry whilst looking at the yellow goblin corpse.

"Ouch. So hey, that 2, sideways... Doesn't it look kind of like a wobbly N? And if her name really is She goblin, maybe she doesn't like that upside down 9 as a B, since it popped back out...maybe she'd prefer the 8, which means we don't have to use duplicate 4s?, and it leaves the number 9 left over which that guy was holding?"

Naps steps back away from the statue very wary after her last attempt.
"Is Everybody ready?
"Wait, wait wait, let me get in the box this time!"Tells hurries over and get into what he thinks is the safety of the box.
All then hold her breathe and places the 2 into the final slot.
"Greetings goblins.
You have remembered me though out the long years.
Now it is time for me to rest and for you to protect that which was safe."
Then the statues eyes close, but nothing else in the room seems to have changed.

All will see whether the statue's force field is still up. If she can, she will take the book, bow and veil in case she needs them to protect the fountain and/or stay alive.

(Edit: if she can't then she will work on the puzzle box)

Steals quickly and safely puts the statue away before angrily pummeling the yellow goblin with all his rage.
When he's done, he'll take the crystal skull and an 8 coin

Naps will go empty all the bags of disks, setting aside all the 8's in a nice neat pile. "Anyone want any of these bags?" Naps will then split the bags as evenly as she can between herself and anyone else interested in them.

TURN 70

Costa now also bored with throwing his heart about decides to rest a little. The longer his has his eyes closed the more he thinks he hears a soothing female voice whispering "go to sleep" it sounds kind of sinister and alluring at the same time.

Feeling one dagger is not enough in his rage Steals takes out another one and starts cutting into the dead yellow goblin thinking it all your fault, if you were alive you could of helped us you bastard!

Naps stacks the number 8 disks and thinks what to do with the bags.
"I could hold on to those bags in my backpack" says Tells who decides staying in the box makes the most sense at the moment; but only partially listening to him she hands out two each to everybody and give herself and Tells the extras. She makes sure she gives Steals his last after he has calmed down a little and retrieved his crystal skull.

All flicks a coin at the field and this time it passes straight through, cautiously she get up onto the platform and retrieves the three items. The book is not in goblin scratching so she has no idea what its says but the bow and the veil are very finely made, and it's possible they may be magic.

All will retrieve the golden skull and an 8 coin. If no one else wants a bag and there is one left over, she will take it and thank Naps.

"If you're sure about door 2, let's go!" (She will wait for confirmation before going, but if everyone agrees, she will hold up the 8 token when they all go.)

"Not more than the last door, but it makes sense for me that it's door number two.. Anyways, we got the right numbered disk so it shouldn't be worse than walking the wrong way in any of the other rooms."

TURN 71

So our party all decide to leave the room with the she goblin statue and try to move onto the final room through door number two. Naps and All take an number 8 disk from the stack and but the others do not.

This portal is not like the rest it doesn't end in an instant and it neither has the healing tingle of a right route or the sense of dread that came from a bad route and it seems like you are tumbling and spinning between dimensions with no destination.
After what seems like hours a floating ethereal goblin head comes into view and speaks in a resonating voice.
"Those that only bear the sacred number may pass!"
It seems to look you all over.

"Three of you may pass. The others have no numbers and thus will be cursed and sent home "
Then out of the grasp of Naps and All their number 8 disk is pulled away from them and into the head and then out of Steals possession goes his goblin statue which had the many symbols of the sacred number. The head then disappears and the swirling and tumbling continues and then the tunnel splits into two and Costa and Tells end up going down a separate path to the others.

Steals, Naps and All swirl down the other path tumbling and spinning and feeling a little worse for wear because of it, then it begins to fade and stabilize and they are deposited calming into not a room but a dark cave. It is too dark to see most things but the light of the portal remains casting an eerie light glow though out the cavern, but there just in view is what they where sent here to find. The fountain!

The other path is much more turbulent than the one the others went down and does not decrease in speed as it goes on.
Costa and Tells get thrown about and are quite violently ejected out of the portal at the other end. A moment later the crystal skull is ejected into this area too then portal doors seal behind them as they get up and dust themselves off.

The quest is now over for Costa and Tells it looks like they will be walking home without having actually seen the mystical fountain...

Edit :- Sorry to lose you guys for the final bit, but that final puzzle was supposed to be mostly a do or die.

Also- I forgot to draw the skulls - the gold skull is still with All but the crystal skull was not allowed through the final portal either and landed with Costa and Tells.

It was pretty well hinted that you should have the number with you when you went into the portal, but at least you didn't die as I expected you would when entering a portal without a number :P
I'm also pretty sure I mentioned picking up a coin along with the skull last turn, but I'm not sure if that would change anything.

Steals will look at the chest, searching for traps before opening it.

I think the skull being sentient needed a number to stick around just like anyone else.

All will aim her bow at what looks like a creepy spider, in case it attacks Steals when he goes to the chest. If it comes down or does anything hostile she will shoot.

(Edit oh unless I don't have any arrows... In that case, shoot with wand.)

((Awww,...we lost people. *waves farewell* Bye guys!))

Naps will decide that now is a good time to don the armor she got (since it appears she's just carrying it), seeing All's wand, she will also get out the unlit torch, and, as a final touch, her nice not so shiny new sword. If possible after all that, she will prepare to charge at anything that goes to attack Tells, but, preferably rush at it after All has already had a go (in the interest of not getting killed, hit and run).

((The burning just says that All's wand does fire stuff, right? It doesn't mean that it's currently on fire and can burn things without shooting at them?))

TURN 72

With their eyes adjusting to the gloom of the room the remaining party see a superbly carved fountain towering about 18ft tall and about the same in width, many carving of goblin faces with different expressions adorn its sides. The sweet smell of the mud honey itself finally get to their noses and it is quite strong but still pleasant, It slowly drips from tier to tier making gloop noises inside of splashes.

Steals heads directly over to the chest in front of it searches for any traps, there don't appear to be any so he cracks it open and finds a note engraved in the lid of the chest and four expertly crafted chalices, one of iron, one of gold, one of wood and the other of brass. The engraving is hard to read in the darkness but its it just doable.

Drink from the cup you were born with and be blessed, any other cup and you will meet the final protectors.

Naps and All see something up in the darkness but it is hard to see without any light. It doesn't appear to be moving from what they can tell though, but both prep for battle just in case.
Pausing for a moment they scan the rest of the room and see the four statues. Like the the last room they all seem to be holding something and have an engraving on their base.

Steals will spend his time trying to figure out what the engraving says, trying to use his wand of light in a limited way.

Naps will go see if All's interested in using her wand to light the torch she has out, if not, she'll go investigate one of the statues.

TURN 73

Steals reads out the engraving on the box after trying to study it with his wand of light, but the light only shines when he uses it to attack something so it not much use.
"Does that mean just use your hand? That's what it sounds like..."
"I think you're right regarding the hands being our cup we are born with. What does the statues say?"

All thinks for a moment then sits down and pulls out her puzzle box and starts to try and open it.
Steals and Naps then head to the statues by them and read the engravings.

Top left Statue of a human girl holding a dagger and a gem
Isolde
Born under the sign of Wise
She divined truth by solving lies
Puzzles were her only friend
And thus she hid until the end


Bottom left - a statue of a heavy set goblin holding an odd silvery shield.
Chief Planner
His plans and shield protected us
fought off the adventurers
with his foresight
but he was still killed by a 7th level wizard


Top right - a statue of a muscular goblin holding a 2 handed mace which seems to give of a small glow at its tip.
Chief Echo
Always did things twice
from repeating himself at meetings
to talking to the teller and even dying
Killed by a 5th level rogue twice


Bottom right - a cloak human statue with a symbol on his chest holding a book
Dawn was broken when night fell
yet dreams may bring him together
but when dreamers awake
where do dreams go.

All will let Naps use her wand if she wants to borrow it. She focuses on her puzzle box this turn though.
