Forumite Meet and Greet: Arlington, VA May 31 or June 1

Post by WearsHats » Fri Mar 29, 2013 7:48 am

I'd still be up for a meetup.

Actually, I'm pondering a trip to Arlington for the Cinematic Titanic farewell tour. Anyone interested?

I'm game for any of those times. I've always wanted to go to the Arlington Drafthouse anyways, so it's just that much better.

This would be fun, provided I was not on the opposite end of the continental United States.

I'm in but give me til the 10th to make sure I can spend that. Money is.. tricky at the moments.

Still really would love to meet up though.

I have an aunt in Silver Spring. I'll probably stay over with her either the night before or that night. Possibly both. So I'll have time to hang out. Maybe we can do dinner or something before the movie?

Only thing is that my sleep/wake schedule changes from day to day. I can't predict what my hours will be so far in advance.

Also, I'm a little worried about tickets selling out. I don't know how many there are or how quickly they might go.

I could've sworn that it was a live event and not a movie, more like improv than anything else. Also, the Arlington Drafthouse has pretty decent food from what I've heard.

You guys all want an east coast meetup once I'm on the west coast. I see how it is :(

Well, I don't need you! I'll have my own meetup...with hookers, and flapjacks!

Cinematic Titanic is a sort of continuation of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Joel and the original MST3K crew* are there in person. They sit on stage and watch a movie and mock it in real time. So it's a live event and a dessert topping movie! (But they have notes/scripts with jokes they prepared from previous viewings, so it's not really improv.) You can go to their website for more info. They also have a Hulu channel where you can watch a bunch of their shows - both the studio recordings and past live shows.

Those aren't guest stars, they're BIll Corbett (Crow), and Kevin Murphy (Tom Servo). Before Rifftrax, they did The Film Crew, (only a few episodes, but they're on Hulu) which was much more like MST3k with host segments and such. I wish it was still around :(

They do have guest stars, though. They did one with Weird Al. I forget who else off the top of my head, but I've seen several.

So, it's looking like Moose and I and maybe SccrD25 are interested in the show? (You are still interested, right Moose?) Anyone else? Any thoughts on showtimes?

Also, what about hanging out sometime over the weekend? Maybe go somewhere to play some games? (I do also have a couple of non-Goblins friends in the area, not to mention my aunt. I've got time if people are interested, but other options if not.)

Oh, I misread your post. For some reason, I thought you said you'd like to, but that you'd be in Nevada.

Any idea when the schedule might be worked out? And any preferences to express assuming you are joining us?

First, I have to get two more people on-boarded (we've hired them but need to get them on contract). Then I need to send them to Baltimore... Baltimore is now in May :wall:
However it should be the weekend before that...

Preference is that we do it Friday since Baltimore has to be on a weekend...

No Nevada in May because I need the team in Baltimore in May... :?
(Which means Nevada in August :waitwtf: )

Translation: Quarg the wandering Walrus should be available on Friday 31st at least..

It's a possibility. May will be busy and so will June, but I will definitely try to make it. And, I'll bring my (then) husband with me. Unfortunately, my offspring won't be able to make it, as she'll be spending time in Illinois with my parents.

Well, I'm definitely not inviting you...I remember what happened that time you got drunk and did rocket science. My dog's eyebrows still haven't grown back.

I will be at A-Kon in Dallas that weekend. Not that I suggest meeting me. Ugh.
