Well, it is two separate sentences. You can read them as separate points if you like.

I understood it the way you meant it. As spearate sentences referring to toally different things.
But due to my line of work, where, among other things, I search for such misunderstandable writings, I stumbled over it.
Now, let's see how the Captain handles the Engineer who chainer her to the deck which needed all hands...
