"Ooohh!---- Shiney!"

We're getting distracted here.

Krulle, this topic is going to be moved to Community in the near future. We wanted to put in here first so that people would see it. I'm going to leave a shadow in place when I move it, but it will reside in Community, so there it will be completely on topic and not degrade the on topicness of the main goblins forum... :D

"Squirrel?!" is my current favorite. :)

Carrot, any thoughts? We don't want people nominating themselves, but since we're past that stage and on to batting around ideas for what we might put on your nameplate, you can have some input.

I've been actively trying to stay out of this discussion, but since I've been asked directly maybe I should chime in.

My goal has always been to move conversations in a new direction before feelings get hurt or the Mods have to step in in a significant way. I've tried to keep that sort of activity contained within large threads that meander as a general rule, but I can see Krulle's point and will try to pay more attention to the appropriateness of it in the future. It may be that those skills are less called upon now that updates are back and the general sense of tension has abated.

I really don't want to be the kind of person that comes up with their own nickname, or the kind of person that decides for themselves if they deserve this kind of honour (and honour would be the way I take it). If the community chooses to recognize me, that would be a rare privilege, but I do not want to steer things (in this thread at least o:) ). I really feel that this should come about organically. The fact that this conversation is happening at all has made me feel very loved and accepted, whether or not anything comes of it.

That being said, I did like "defuses explosive runes," although "Squirrel!" did have a certain charm, but I think "Look, A Distraction!" might be more appropriate.

"An Obvious Distraction"

It's something we use in my house to divert each other away from topics of conversation.

That is pretty awesome.

I'm not kidding. Yell it at my house or at my Dad's and you'll get a chorus of "Where?"'s and a bunch of people looking in random directions, no matter what they were doing before.

It's what I'd pick for you since you are that personified, but it's not up to me. :)

I don't want it to be up to me either, but I do like that one.

I'll second the motion, then. :)

Third!

(btw, You are doing a much better job at distractions than someone else in this forum.
And while I do appreciate random absurdness (hey, I still miss Monty Python!), there is a point when it's not appropiate anymore (as it only works when you're mostly serious, giving an occasional outburst the extra spice).
But I'm simply happy that your skillsets are less necessary now.)

Me too, I can engage in the forum a little more regularly now.

Ok, so I'll leave the option up there for another day. If all in favor then I'll update you.

I like The Pacifier but I think An Obvious Distraction is also cool.

Weighing in on this... not only do I think "An Obvious Distraction" would be an awesome title for CooksACarrot, I am now plotting how to introduce that phrase as a tradition in my family!

Why do I have this strange notion to suggest just a slight variation...

"An Obvious Distracti... Squirrel!!"

We could call him Mr. Ector.

I'd say he's more of a Reader than a Mr.

But I'd vote for the popular choice. Though, as has been said, I'm hoping it won't be so frequently called upon.

Hopefully, in two years or so, we forum "oldies" are the ones who can answer questions how Carrot got his title, and what it means... :)

Based on my actual personality type (apparently)..

Would it be possible to change my title to show myself more truly

While Saves-A-Hyena might have happened (it did...trust me)

Soap-Box-Preacher is probably more accurate

Hmm...
I'd only second it if we get a picture of you in your clerical collar on a soap box...
