And another one:
http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1168.html - Limited Motions

When presented with facts.... Politicians will find a way to ignore the facts for now and revisit them later for a thorough evaluation by a committee, which will give an advice for the council/parliament on how to proceed after the vote has been cast but the facts have only now been fully considered.

Politicians never seem to understand that TIME is a valuable resource. Except of course when they have a reelection date coming up and they need to get as far along the campaign trail as possible.

We're still between the two barriers.
I do hope that "our" team-members (the Order of the Stick, and the Dwarves) know that they are not allowed to use dispel magic once inside the blue barrier.

Correction - they are "allowed" to, they simply are punished for doing so, by being temporarily turned to stone. If the Thundershield Clan has enough divine casters (or rogues who remembered to bring a scroll/wand/etc. they can UMD), they can totally spam one Dispel Magic per dominated council member (more if the vampires re-dominate, but that probably gets them stoned), until the quorum is no longer under thrall and the motion can be struck down. The resulting collection of Thundershield statues, presumably ending with Durkon himself (Law of Drama dictates that exactly one less than the required number of other dispels will exist among the other hero-dwarves), should be restored to life in the wake of the crisis, but even if a frustrated vampire smashes the statues and thus renders them permadeath, it would be an extremely fitting sacrifice to make in the name of their virtuous mission.l

http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1170.html - Divine Diversion

I'm a fan of a YouTuber called the Lorerunner, who discusses Star Trek and various other works, and one saying he frequently repeats in reference to some of the episodes of Star Trek is "I don't care if you have a ridiculous premise and say 'just go with it', as long as you make a good episode" (paraphrasing the general sentiment, not his exact wording). In this spirit, while this is a brilliant strip and I love it, I do have to nitpick the fact that it either ignores (maybe Rich didn't read this book) or contradicts (more likely, Rich didn't care about incorporating a somewhat counterintuitive rule from a book many people won't have read) one of the most crucial defining features of a D&D god, as established in the 3rd edition "Deities and Demigods" book - gods have multiple "points of view" at a time, with even the weakest of demigods being able to view two locations simultaneously with all of their inherent senses. Thus, if this were a 3E game being run by a DM who knew about that book and hadn't chosen to houserule to the contrary, Hel's effort at going behind the backs of the other gods would be impossible (or at least infinitely more difficult, since she'd have to set up a nearly infinite number of diversions, between two and a half-dozen or more depending on the god, and accurately predict exactly which god would view which distraction, with a single mistake sufficing to screw up her plan).

Nice ninja!
You posted the minute I wanted to post and just got a warning.
Took me a bit to read your post.

You're correct, they can cast, but we don't know whether the protective spell will take effect before you can finish casting "Dispel Magic"....
