Goblins Minesweepers - A Grave Situation (Turn 19)

Post by LooksAndSmiles » Tue Jan 28, 2014 5:37 pm

Hello Everybody, this is the playing thread for the goblins minesweepers game.

You can read more about the many rules this game has in this part of the forum. Don't be scared! The game system is easier than it looks, all you have to do is moreless know what you can do, or in doubt, ask! :)

Without further ado

Round 2 - Chapter 2: A Grave Situation
After our small team of goblins successfully cleared the roads, they have finally arrived at the old burial grounds. It didn't look good. Actually, it did, but it had some kind of hidden menace, an eerie feeling, something that made the goblins not really wanting to enter.

Nevertheless, if they wanted to keep on their journey, they had to. One question remained, namely:

What lies ahead?
Turn 0 >>Next Turn

A Grave Situation
Map tileset: graveyard
Grid layout: regular quads
Mine layout: random
Amount of mines: 30
Hinderances: traps, monsters

Special Map Rule:
- Tiles with a "grave" in them count as discoverable tiles, but they do not trigger when a player steps upon them. To find out whether they are mines or contain a number, the player has to do a "dig" action, which is a free action, provided the player is standing on the same tile. Tiles with a grave on them do not count towards the map goal. (This means you can finish the map without disturbing the cemetery, in case you are afraid of a possible otherworldy retribution... >:D)

Spawning Rules:
- Everyone can spawn, no waiting line.
- To avoid "jumping around", the rule for circling out is the following:
1) The player declares circling out and the end of their turn. 2) The player circles out in the next turn, as a full-turn action. 3) The player cannot respawn in the next turn. So if someone declares circling out at turn 10, they will only circle out on turn 11, they cannot respawn on turn 12, only able to come back on turn 13. I hope this limit will be able to keep players in line.

p.s.: I know this map is not that big. It is kind of hard to find a size that is big enough for many people, yet small enough to be percievable, and also interesting enough for the eyes. I promise to tweak around with sizes later on, preferably making bigger maps.

p.p.s.: The tileset is taken from a free website, I can't remember which. Google dropped it in the first posts, so yeah. Any credits are where they are due.

Goska will use Visions on J8, spawn on B10 without equipment, and attempt to rescue Oh See That Shiny from possible doom.

As mentioned, I'll equip my third skill, please.

Interesting to start with safe spawning locations, especially since I have a detector now. But I think I'll play this one straight. Let's see if the crossroads really is protected from evil spirits.

Spawn on F6.

I use visions on E2. I spawn on G2 with picking active skill hero.

What does the "Carved Figure of Hiccuping" do? I forgot. Something with respawn I think, but not sure.
Thanks!

It saves you from 1 detonation. (You got it because I messed up a rescue action in the previous game.)

Nerre, I'm not sure what the return ability of the hero is, but it doesn't seem likely to be a rescuing skill with answering the call and rescuing already being revealed. I'd advise any of those who have rescue to target somebody with high EP by name, btw, as lower EP characters lose less by dying and not giving a name puts a delay on the skill, in case people have forgotten.

Yes, I noticed and therefore edited my post. I think return allows me to skip the waiting line. But I did not find it in the resources list, only answer to call and rescue.

Yeah, we haven't discovered its use yet, so it hasn't been listed.

Theis, there's a rather high chance that Shiny is safe, as there is only a 9% chance both Shiny and Goska step on a mine. If you wanted, you could risk bringing some gear with you.

From what I have seen of Burns not using it, looks like immediate respawn.

Stumbles uses visions on J2 and spawns on J3 with boots, sword and shield, declaring his rescue on White metal.

BTW, if someone wearing trousers and/or boots steps on a mine, and someone declared rescue on them, what comes first? The rescue that also saves the trousers/boots (potentially) from being destroyed, or the equip, and only if that fails and the person would still explode, the rescue skill get to be active?

Craig will spawn on D3 having bought a sword and a leather jacket and equipping the run skill token, (if he can do all that).

Those of you spawning on tiles which have map objects on them, particularly White Metal and Questions, may want to consider using free actions for digging, as spawning on a grave isn't providing anybody with information otherwise, and it hasn't become completely clear what all map objects Looks counts as a grave.

The grave objects of this map (Sorry if it is not obvious!):
- All the "cross" graves with the brown soil
- All the marble graves on the right.

Statues, that are NOT graves:
- the figure at the cross road
- the figure on the left end of the road
- the two dragon statues.

(You may try to interact with the statues regardless :) )

Questions uses a free action to satisfy her curiosity and crawl around on the statue to see what it's made of. Especially those pretty red eyes, Are the gems? Are they real eyes? Only one way to know!Gaining knowledge is fun!

(Still spawning on I8)

Might be possible this turn, if you hurried, given the round just started, or you might have to wait until the round ended. I'm sure Looks will have to decide which.
