Go kill those students dreams.... or... well.... you'r choice of-cause.. but butting a little lofcrafitan horror into their life can only be your task as a responsible adult!

well, in the quiz questions I had them crash a car, fly a spaceship, and toss stuff out of the window.

...the math question was worse... I had them borrow 2.000.000kr from the mob, who would take a finger if they didn't find the way they could afford to pay them back (calculation with rent)...

...uh-uh-ih... make all the right answers wrong... because, when the mob wanted their money back, it should have been in Dkkr (danish kr) so even paying it all, they still owe them *0.20 SEK

I'm still here :) I'll need a chance to catch up on what was going on, but more than happy to pick this back up!

LAYF has left the forums though, so I doubt he'll be back to play, and Borys hasn't been online since the end of May (a PM might bring him back but who knows). I'm also completely fine with starting again with new players if that's going to be easier (though I'll probably keep Phyllis :))

definitely. Unless you think a handbag-wielding, fusspot of an old lady is likely to survive this on her own :)

Just started reading Lovecraft for the first time... ( :-o I know, bad Spider...) may have an interest, but don't have a clue what is going on gamewise atm.

*Edit* Ok, read through the game log, not sure what you would be planning on doing with Boro and Jorgen as characters if it is picking up from here (at least the sudden onset of incurable insanity is always an option to write characters out of this story.... ;) ), but I'd be willing to play a character that was late in arriving, showed up as the funeral was going on and didn't want to intrude, but has found his way to the hotel?

Name: Hemming Raskvoss

Occupation: All around petty thief and part time scam artist

Fields of Study:
Lockpicking
Lying
Pickpocket/Sleight of hand
Appraisal
Computers

Hobbies:
Juggling
Drugs/alcohol
Gambling

Items:
Flask of high proof spirits
Vial of pills
Lockpick set
Easily concealed blade

Once a bright youth with plenty of potential, Hemming's teen years were marked by personal tragedy and his trajectory was sidetracked by his introduction to mood altering chemicals. He soon turned to gambling to finance his other excesses, then cheating and scamming to better his odds of winning at gambling. Eventually he moved on to outright thieving, burglary and eventually internet scams (I am correct in thinking this is in a modern setting??). He doesn't think of himself as an addict, and while he is high functioning, he is on a steady drip of something the majority of the time. He is fairly average looking in the Nordic mold, but somewhat gaunt and twitchy, and slightly disheveled in small details (a missed button, non matching socks, etc.). He was hesitant to respond to the summons, as he'd used a similar ploy before to get people out of their homes before climbing in the window and looting the place. However, he had little of value in his flat at the moment, being a bit between jobs, and if there was the possibility of a rich distant relative leaving him something of value, he figured he should at least check it out. His delay in deciding to go got him into Filipstad a bit late... he arrived as the funeral was underway, so kept out of the way before finding his way back to the hotel where everyone else was meeting.

OOC: The feel I'm going for with Hemming is a fellow that never succeeds at life, but so far has done well surviving it, doing whatever is needed. In the old saying about cockroaches inheriting the earth, he'd be right there with them... According to my search of Norse name meanings, the name I cobbled together for him comes from roots meaning "shape changing quick fox"...

Re: Call of Cthulhu- Filipstad -Books

The lawyer calls out names, one after another, and everyone is aloud to pick from the old books
Boro! Phyllis! J├©rgen! Moa! Henrik! Hemming!

Reacting to the last name, a figure rises from the slot machine by the bar, pausing to collect his winnings. Then walks over to the books...

Hmmmm... old bible was tempting, but bibles were the sort of thing that people held on to over the years, so aren't always the rarest of books... something about the Greek book called to him, besides he had a buyer in Greece that would be more than happy to buy whatever story of authenticity Hemming concocted to up the value of the tome.

Hemming selects "╬ƒ╬╣ ╬ö╬╣╬▒╬©╬«╬║╬Á¤é ¤ä╬À¤é ╬Ü╬▒¤ü╬¢╬▒╬╝╬▒╬│╬┐¤éÔÇ¿" holding it carefully so not to damage it further, before shuffling back to the bar and ordering whatever the strongest stuff the bartender can pour him.

Phyllis continues to appear engrossed in her book, but reaches out as best she can towards the new spirit in the room.

"Hello? Everything's ok! You're all right now, and you're safe. Can you understand me? What's your name?"

the rest of the guests names are called one by one. all exsept Johanna R├Ânnell, the widow, that looks in envy as the lawyer collects the remaining books after Liv is called.
...you note that the name Hans Melker was called as well, several times loudly, without anyone appearing. You think of the guy talking in his mobile the entire funeral... you dont see him around.

Johan, Stina and Moa are all in high sperits getting drunk at the bar, together with Hemming. Johan is buying all the drinks, and Moa is flirting wildly with hemming.

Phyllis, you note that the ghost seems to be confused, and then suddenly lets out a scream! A deafening roar of agony fills your head! Something is tourchering the its soul!

Happy to have someone else buying the drinks, Hemming has turned up the dial on the charm to keep the booze flowing. He raises his glass to old Whatever-His-Name-Was with the others, "Skål!", and cheerfully knocks it back. He flirts lightly with Moa, enough to potentially lay groundwork for later, but not so much as to offend the others... after all, it is Johan, not Moa that his fulfilling his appetites for now.

He is not so wrapped up in his drinking and flirting not to notice that the lawyer packed up the last three books, and attempts to keep his eye on them... "My Family's Destiny"... what could that refer to? And Moa had the other half of that pair, if he could pinch the other books from the lawyer, and work his way into her trust to be able to get both halves... A set is always better than one.

Phylis lets out a small yelp as the screaming fills her head, drowning out all her other thoughts... She does the only thing that seems to make any sense and screams at the spirit's tormentors to stop.

(How much of Phylis's reaction spills out into the "real world" is up to you Kelten, but either way Phylis is utterly absorbed by the spirit's plight and pays no attention to the world of the living while all this is going on)

The Lawyer packs the books into the case and starts heading for the door... when Phylis starts screaming! He leaves it by the entrance and rushes to help as Phylis collapses. Image (its a big case, not that easy to slip away with)
You do know the lawyers car is right outside... a armored car at that.

Phylis: you feel surge of energy and get the feeling of blood flowing threw your mind...
The ghost is... dead? Can the dead die again? you pass out, with waves of terror running threw you. Dark magic is going on!

You come to in a chair at the bar, next to hemming. Hector Berlioz (the lawyer) is holding out a large glass of water for you to drink.
"Är du ok? Ska jag ringa någon?" he asks.

Stina (quite drunk) leaves the bar.
