What next?

Post by Aegis J Hyena » Thu Sep 12, 2013 2:41 pm

Ok, I've settled in my new location (somewhat... mostly...) and am looking to potentially hop back into the games forum here... but what would you like to see?

A) Civilization V: Spore Edition (evolve from single celled bacteria all the way to... something, I dunno. This is my first choice, but I want to see what other people want first)
B) Civilization V: "Wait, we're doing this again?" (Notes are gone; I'm not going back to Oasis Hearth, I'd rather leave that one right where it is.)
C) "Story Time with Uncle Aegis": Reactive Edition (in which I run 3-6 players, goblins or otherwise, through the story I'm currently writing more so for amusement to see where paths diverge from my plot).
D) "Story Time with Uncle Aegis" Passive Edition (in which I post the story I'm writing simply for criticism, all 190 pages and 100k words of it so far)
E) Somethin' else? (Got ideas? A G.A.P.? A M.A.P.?)

Dunno if this'd go in "recruitment" or the regular games thread, so I stuffed it here.

No wonder you haven't been on Steam and it lists you as last on over a month ago... Anyone else have any input?

Can you give us a genre and setting for C & D? I kind of like C, and think you might learn from it too.

Sword and sorcery; it's the only thing I write. Can't really give the plot away but it's an interesting one. Right now my "heroes" (such as they are) are at the three month mark but I've slacked off on writing while doing my editing pass. If I did C, I'd go scene by scene up until where my heroes are, and maybe even use what happens with option C as future adventures once you pass my heroes' current point.

For shits, here's a paragraph from early in their career... Vincent's a knight, Roig's a "beastman" (effectively a gnoll), Kaydis is a priest and Tabithendra a sorceress; those are the four main characters so far (though they just picked up two more where they currently are at).

Why yes. Yes I did. :P

... ... ... "Island" sea? Should read "inland"... wow, glad I caught that just now... *goes to fix in his file*

What it really comes down to is:

A or B - Everyone can take part and have fun and the ones that play might not read it.

C - A few people can take part and have fun and the rest of us can only read it.

D - No one can play, but all of us can read, playing is for children anyways....right....right..... :P I guess not...

No, actually D = no one can take part and have fun and all of us can only read it.

Not that reading can't be fun, in my opinion.

I was expecting people to go "You're doing it again when you haven't finished a Civ yet?" --- looks like people still have faith in me. Heh.

I'll see if anyone else chips in with an opinion, and after writing a few more pages of my story to bring the count to 200 pages even, maybe I'll throw a Civ 5 together.

Man haven't played Spore in a long, long, time. Might just play it again now.
Haven't played this signature game in a long while but I'll try it out again.

oo...hmm, for an Option D, I have an idea.

What if, instead of the normal type we played something inspired by Star-Wars or Star Trek (though technically spore does eventually lead to space travel)....man, now i wanna play spore again too.....anyways....

I know that they made a star-wars tabletop a long time ago...but, i dunno...space sounds fun..

Loved the format of Civ IV, but I'd be interested to see how A would go :)

A) 6.5 (Badge, Kida, Borys, Davecom, Nolandking, nikohl, Jib)
B) 1 (Davecom, )
C) 1.5 (TTW, nikohl)
D) 0 ()

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence despite me not finishing Civs --- looks like Spore edition it is. It won't be soon as I have to mess with my financial situation first. I may need to pack and run at a moment's notice to a backup location with family if my money runs out. I'll shoot for the beginning of October... maybe. Barring that, maybe Halloween or something.

*copypastes the opening post of Civ IV into a notepad file* I've been messing with ideas for how a Spore version would work, but as I am not a fan of going much further than medieval times, I -may- just go for a regular version. Fortunately I found a free hex editing game software mapmaker thingy, so I'll have a more developed map this time... we'll see. I'll know what I'm doing by the end of next week.

At least Smells left his mark on history, even though doing it made him depressed due to its cost.
