I'm still new-ish to mounted movement, but I think having haste makes that largely moot, and Ealu is more useful on her own.

I think she would RAW have her own initiative, which she would retain as an intelligent mount, but Crawford and others have recommended letting riders determine whether a willing intelligent mount is controlled or independent.

I could have her help Joe, if she needs more mobility to pursue the shadowthing, but Ealu can't see in the dark, and if Kroshav leaves, he's taking his light source with him.

That and Joe just needs them within 120 for MM and can see it. (Or 240 for eldrich and ignoring anycover)

(Well Joe also has firebolt, but funnily enough her int is lower than her cha, and eldrich blast is twice as likely to hit/crit due to having two rolls. Too bad there isn’t really a good point for her to go into warlock, getting incantations to make EB better and further distance and making Ruby a psudodragon of death would been good)

Just going to point out that Ealu is going to struggle in the woods.

Also, no one but Kroshav has line of sight on the shadowthing at the moment - too many trees in the way. Moving towards it will fix that but it will have cover from ranged attacks, the amount depending on the distance.

Your ranged spell attacks ignore half cover and three-quarters cover.

Sorry, but can't Cary see now across the center of the map as the darkness has dissipated?

Yes, but her night vision is still only 60'. She can see the glow around some nearly extinguished fires and the areas immediately around them to the southeast along with a floating(?), faintly glowing sword.

The disappearance of the super darkness doesn't let her see more to the east of where it was, she was already over there before moving to check on Kant!

Edited: Forgot Lurn lit that area to the east up, but Cary still only sees the campfires and tents that she could already see before moving. Nothing is moving within the range of her vision except allies.

Oh, in that case she can definitely see more, but nothing it really moving there either. There is some burnt grass where the wasn't.
