"...What do you know, Thedor? Why are you so insistent that Imarial is hiding something?"

Thedor shakes his head, "I don't think Imarial that you are hiding anything, not in the way an elf noble would define hiding. But not tell us something because you judge it unimportant, and that your judgement as an elf and a noble is superior to ours? Yes, I do think that. And the reason I believe that , because I've had elven nobles hide things from me because I did not need to know, which very nearly got me killed once, and it did get them killed. And I will take an ounce of prevention now rather than it stabbing us in the back with Imarial saying 'Oh that reminds me, I never told you...' just as the blade goes in."

Imarial begins cursing in Draconic. "Bad words and curses !"
"What I know is that I lost my research, Lord Rakal said he'd look for it. He then found it and said I could accompany him with an armed to the City to stay safe, and to get a bunch of supplies around and meet up with you lot!"

"Why did the bandits take it in the first place? What could they, or someone paying them, see value in it? I know it was of the ancient elf land of the North but anything particular about it, or something someone thought was in it that they might have found value in?"

Sylvan curses this time. "Even more bad words!
How should I know, they didn't stop to share their motivations with me over tea! We were attacked, I made it out alive, but without any of my documents. If Rakal found my research, I doubt the bandits saw any value in it, they likely discarded it... oooh, I hope it's not too damaged!"

"Imarial... Drow and elves were related once, no? Could your work on your ancient elves be of interest to drow today? I mean... I wouldn't presume to say I understand your work better than you of course, and I defer to your judgement, but if there's anything you discovered that could be of interest to the drow please think on it. If you say there's nothing, then so be it. Thedor will just have to live with that."

"*Sigh* I never came across anything directly referencing *drow*, so while it is possible they are after something, I have no evidence it was pertaining to them in the past. Names, references old gods, ancient battles and artifacts, it is all fascinating to me, but I have long since learned not to bother discussing my research with non-academics. At least non-elven academics have some perspective of time and history, the uneducated short lived races are always so impetuous." He glares, particularly at Thedor, but no one is spared.

"Fine. Then let's move on then shall we? Thedor, I think you have your answer. Now, how far along the road did you get? We need to decide whether to continue looking for our man on the main road or return to the Inn and check the forest trail."

Ooc: Thedor was moving towards the keep when he found the tracks leading him to the forest trail...

((I kind of figured OOC that he hadn't got all the way there, but Elara wouldn't know IC. She'd also REALLY like to change the subject because having the pair of them argue forever is pointless))

well, not really pointless.
I once read a story about elf who won arguments by arguing till the other one died of old age...

Thedor sighs, "Ah well too old to learn better...I would say that I got very near the Keep. So I suggest that we travel to the Keep and inquire there as to the Lord's journey and inform them of the drow highwaymen."

"Leave it alone Thedor, there may be nothing here to learn!
Anyway, I agree. If we are close to the Keep, we should at least see what we can learn there before returning towards the Inn by the forest trail. I am not certain that we should be too specific about these two though. If the Lord's house has indeed been compromised somehow, we want to ensure that we are not giving information needlessly to our rivals. Tell them we met bandits... but let us also assume there was a reason he didn't recruit his own men to watch him on this journey."

Hmm, okay...
It seems there is a bit of a power struggle within the group. And it think that's good, as it would be natural in a new adventure group, trying to see who holds the lederrolle best.
So...
Let's do this.
Thinks has the leader roll right now.
I'd like you to make an persuade roll with advantage and pm me the result.
Anyone who would like to "take over" the party may try and make an intimidation OR persuade roll (no advantage npr disadvantages) and pm it to me within the next 12 hours.
Ill then pm you and thinks back the result and you should rollplay it here in the thread.
BUT, loosing the roll by more than 10 means that your character must accept the other's leadership, at least until you get a level. (accept and follow, but not necessarily agree)
Sounds fair? Awesome....

Can do... But I think we've agreed on our next actions no?
I'd personally prefer to just to rp this stuff than let my character's behaviour be forced by dice rolls is all.

That's okay with me... It was meant as, if you have trouble finding who should lead off game..
I like to remove such obstacles before they arise, if I see them in the horizon.. That said, feel free to do it by rp. If that can be done it is far better...

Thedor's problem is mainly not trusting the elf not trusting him to provide information.
He's not got a problem with Eldera's trying to move forward, but he's really concerned about unknown tigers in the grass...

Imarial's flustered, anxious, and not in a sharing mood. What was supposed to be a reunion with his research and an easy trip to the City under the protection of hired mercenaries has turned into having to work with said mercenaries to find his documents... oh, and the missing Lord too... I guess.

Okay guys..
I just calculated Experience points.
And when totaled with what you guys got last time. it ends up as follows:
Bob = 225. (no so many fights)
Corval, Thedor, Imarial = 275
Elara = 300 (survived a trap alone)
That means Elara is up a level.
But, The level will not be added before next short rest (and nope, you are not in a situation for that...)
Just so you guys are aware.
On another note, it is late afternoon currently in game.

Okay.. So what happened last session:
According to Spider:

The rolling mountains twenty treasures
Before and Inbetween games-game!
The party leaves the ambush in the woods, headed on towards the keep. Smoke was spotted above the keep (something new since Thedor scouted?), and the party decided to split to get there as quickly as possible. Thedor and Elara galloped ahead on the two horses, while the cart with Imarial, Corval and Bob follows behind. Upon arriving, Thedor and Elara do a bit of scouting that I couldn't see, getting into the keep by the time the rest arrive. Imarial joins Elara as she sleeps a "drow", Bob kicks a door and fails, nearly breaking a stilt, but does find a rat to feed cheese and make comforting noises to, so that's pretty much his day. Elara ties up the sleeping "drow" with a *spare shirt after checking out his sizzling wand. Corval and Thedor leave Bob to his rat wooing and head deeper in, encountering and defeating another "drow", whose wand explodes in Corval's hand. Exploring further, another cultist is found, and Thedor takes him out before Corval or Imarial can provide appreciable help. Imarial kicks a door in half somehow, as one of the "drow" (from upstairs?), sprints out of the keep, stealing Elara's horse. In turn, she steals Thedor's horse and takes off in pursuit, hollering out to no one that she was in pursuit. A body of a dead guard was inspected, the "drow" Elara had bound was rebound slightly more securely, and the boys discussed their plans, only to have the bound "drow" escape his bonds and flee on the draft horse. Bob keeps talking to his rat, eventually convincing it that he has cheese and he's not going to hurt it. Imarial manages to take down the fleeing "drow" at long range, and the draft horse is regathered. The other floors are explored while Bob cooed to his rat, all the doors are locked, and foiled Imairal's attempts to cantrip his way though them. The group, wondering if Elara has absconded with the horses, heads in the direction of the tracks, eventually reaching where she'd marked a tree with an arrow and "Drow this Way". During this time, she was sneaking about, making her way into a cave. The rest of the party stows and disables the wagon, grabbing a few items from it, then follows the trail, eventually reaching a campsite with a long dead body and much fresher blood. Some carrion beetles attack, but are quickly dispatched. Bob is too distracted by his new rat to swing his sword properly, but is relieved to discover that these beetles don't go in for stilt wood. A mighty explosion is heard by some of the party, as Elara, somewhere within the cave, has managed to not quite kill herself.
According to Thinks:
► Show Spoiler
lara and Thedor rode ahead of the others to scope out the keep, which appeared to be completely abandoned and on fire when we got to it. We figured out pretty quickly that it was an illusion and went exploring. I think Thedor found a dead guard round the back and Elara went for a sneaky explore around the south part of the building until the rest of the party showed up, and immediately split up. Bob ran screaming into the house ready to kick down a door, but screwed it up twice and cracked one of his stilts instead. He decided to make friends with a rat.
Meanwhile, Elara and Imarial found a cultist waving a wand around in a room with rats, put him to sleep and looted him. She stole his wand, which was cursed with some kind of explody spell, but she used a scrap of material to grab it and managed to avoid blowing herself up. She then tied him up with a shirt and hung about in the room for a while. Imarial went off to find the others who were still exploring and help not blow stuff up.
Corval found another cultist, and killed him outright. However, he screwed up picking up that guys wand and blew himself up a little bit. Thedor tried to sneak up on another cultist, but the guy was ready for him! Luckily the cultist was also incompetent and got murdered to death really fast.
Bob kept trying to befriend the rat.
Imarial found a closed door, and then showed everyone how to kick things properly with double 20s. Bob's ego was shattered by the impact.
I think at this point we heard a couple of doors close, and Elara went out to look for whoever it was. She saw someone steal the horse she'd rode in on (suddenly named Daisy), decided that that kind of behaviour was unacceptable and charged off after them on Gordon (yes, I know) yelling to the others to tell them what she was doing. No-one heard her and they explored the upstairs of the keep. I don't really know what happened up there because I couldn't see any of it, but I think two locked doors got found that couldn't be burnt down or beaten into submission. Corval found Elara's sleeping cultist at some point and tossed some extra rope on him. When they found the rooftop, they also noticed that the horses were gone. In the basement I believe they found more locked and unpassable doors.
Bob still couldn't tame the damn rat.
Alerted to someone sprinting away, Imarial raced out to find the previously-sleeping cultist riding away on their last remaining cart horse. He lined up four shots, missed the first three, but nailed the last one to murder the cultist outright. Job done, he went to retrieve the horse. Thedor managed to get the third cultist's wand and stuff without blowing himself up. Imarial had come back by then and had the idea to check the cultists for special gloves or some sort of protection, and found they had all carved a particular rune into their palms that he recognised from his studies. No-one else knows that IC.
Everyone started wondering where Elara had gone at this point (some more suspicious than others), but had to wait until Bob had made friends with the rodent before they could leave. He now has a rat-companion called mort.
Eventually, they followed on and found the path through the bushes where Elara had left the main trail. It was fairly easy on account of the large arrow and "Drow this way" sign that she'd carved into a tree. I presume they would also have found Gordon wherever she'd left him.
((Actually, we haven't found Daisy yet either... She'd better not have been fed to the Growly Monster...))
Anyway, the group sabotaged their cart and left the remaining horse off the trail and followed. They found an old dead body with evidence of fresh blood on him at an old camp and got attacked by corpse beetles (which are not Isoptera) and then heard an almighty explosion from somewhere to the west.
Elara meanwhile had gone off ahead and sort of forgotten about the horse or she might have spent more time looking for hoof prints... She managed to sneak into a cave, avoid an angry grue (or something, who knows?), find a door with a bomb wired up to it that she completely failed to notice and blew up half her hit points. She's currently standing face to face with a new friend and we will resume the game on her turn with one action left to take.
Thanks for the recap guys
