Korrik scurries across.

"What do you mean it wasn't there... they can't just appear, right?"

"Well if the council don't need us I'm good to go. Got some rich folks to save from being sacrificed and all. Right boss?"

Varsk looks to Mehr,

"Right? "

Druid Group

Goroth wipes his nose on the back of his hand and sniffs.

"Well, be careful then. You know your business, but I wouldn't rely on guesses."

Temple Group

As the stone door swings open, Locke turns and sprints away from it, yelling a warning to Shossk as he goes, who throws himself to the left side of the door. There is a quiet moment when all that can be heard is a running tabaxi and wooden grinding, followed by a moment of silence and then the sound of breaking pottery. With a sudden WHOOSH of air, Shossk is hit by a rush of hot air and a firey blast licks at the edges of his clothes and is gone. Luckily for him, the door protected him from the worst of the blast, but he takes 2 fire damage from the heat. Locke made it out of range. Looking back to the room, Locke can see just a few smouldering fires inside the room, and his companion, safely huddled to the side of the door.

Lizard Group

Korrik climbs up to join Kal, and finds the ledge is a tight squeeze for the two of them. He'll need to push into the passageway to make room for whoever's climbing up next, but for the moment, he is a little more concerned by the strange ceiling structures.

From down below Artho hisses and points to the right:
"Another one! It moved! I'm sure of it"

Korrik looks around for a small rock good for throwing at other rocks that move along the ceiling.

"I'll come up!"

Merric decides to crawl up to the others with surprising experience.

Merric athletics: 1d20+3 = [16] = 19

Merric starts making the climb with ease.

((Will Korrik move to make room, or are we going to have an awkward teetering squeeze when Merric gets to the top?))

"Bats, perhaps, using some camouflage mimicry?"

Kal searches his memory for what kind of creature or phenomenon this might be.

"Certainly, we are always careful. Even when we have expectations we take precautions. That is how we have managed to slay several times our number. Strength and skill achieve only so much."

"Well, you let me know when you're ready to go, and where you want to go and I'll fetch Tam."

Lizard Group
Kal searches his memory, and while he doesn't know exactly what these things are, he does know that some creatures are so good at camouflaging themselves when motionless that they can appear exactly like their surroundings -a rock maybe, or dead vegetation. They are usually ambush predators and from the way they're sneaking overhead, Kal suspects these creatures are no different.

Mehr glances at the others, "Does anyone have a reason not to go? If we only have three of these rings, I suggest we get as close to the target as possible. No sense regrouping with the others if they can't go there."

Concentration check against fire trap: 1d20+2 = [16] = 18 (Pass!)

After the blast of heat dissipates, Shossk lowers his guard and tests his new burns. He hisses slightly at the pain, but thankfully they seem non-serious.

"A mmundane trap inside the temple," Shossk states, looking back to the door. "Why?"

Seeking an answer, Shossk cautiously approaches the door to see (and sense with Detect Magic) what lays beyond.

"And we got no idea where they are anyhow so regroupin'd be damned hard."

If they are going now Varsk digs out the ring and puts it on.

Locke pokes his head back out from around the entrance, taking in the new scorch marks on the ground as he catches his breath.

"...you alive?"

Seeing that the lizard isn't a pile of charred ash, he then returns to the door and joins Shossk in checking out the next room.

"A mmundane trap inside the temple, Why?"

"Easier to hide, meybe? Ain't there spells that can see magic stuff?"

Merric waves to the creatures above and starts making weird sounds, at least that's what the rest of the group hears.

Using speak with animals :P

"Hey there, how are you doing?"

”The longer we are apart the less likely we will see them again.” Gwen looks to the distances. ”I am not sure what else there is to do here, so I guess we need to go.”

"Well, they don't seem to have reacted to us so far, but those are probably some sort of predatory animal, and they could drop down and attack at any moment. I've got my hands full with the rope. Korrik, cross swiftly but carefully and be prepared to fend them off. The rest of you, keep your eyes on the ceiling. I wish we had our weapons... "

Mehr pauses, rubbing a hand over his jaw for a moment, "On the consideration of caution... Why us? Surely there would be some capable persons among you, and if this task is so important then it should be left to people you can trust to get it done, shouldn't it?"
