((Yeah, you all have terrible passive perception  He did indicate to Korrik to stop, so if you want to make a perception roll, you're welcome to try. It's going to be at disadvantage from the darkness though))

As Shossk rises, Locke waves at him to come over.

"Oi, come gimme a paw here. This thing's heavy."

He then puts his not-very-considerable weight against the large door - making surprising progress despite his small stature.

Athletics: 1d20+2 = [17] = 19
Perception: 1d20+4 = [16] = 20

Perception: 1d20+2 = [4] = 6

((Just rolled once because it doesn't matter))

korrik doesn't know why Kal has stopped him, and only sees an ordinary cave ceiling.

Locke catches Shossk before he can wander off too far. He stares at the door for a second, before stepping up beside his traveling companion. "I wwill lend what aid I can." He's a little stronger than Locke is, but can only leverage his weight as well as the Tabaxi can.

((Just rolling here, since we both have +2 to Athletics and it's the same as giving Advantage))

Athletics to help Locke with door: 1d20+2 = [19] = 21

Shossk manages to apply even more force than Locke! He's weaker than most of his peers, but his performance might say otherwise.

Varsk pockets the ring, not putting it on.

"We actually got, what? Six folks in our party. Five now that Syli wised up. Any chance you got two more of those rings? The more we get with us the more we can do against ancient black dragons, ya?"

Korrik waits impatiently. "What is are you looking at Kal? Do I need to go back? Can't just hang here forever..."

((ok so based on the ordering of what you guys posted, does Shossk want to check out the room first? Is Locke waiting for him for help?))

Mehr gives a nod as he accepts the ring, "Our thanks for your generosity and advice. We will do all we can to exterminate the followers of that foul dragon." The comment on the staff, though, gives Mehr pause for a moment. "I have deciphered from it the ability to use an acidic magic - often considered a weak and useless spell. But considering the acidic dragon's influence..." The dragonborn sighs softly, "Well, there goes the option of selling that. We can't afford to provide such a malicious item to just anyone."

Glancing at the others, Mehr speaks up again, "It has been long since Tam could speak to his friend, and that friend is now old. There is no knowing for certain how much time he has left. I hardly expect him to pass suddenly, but it can do no harm to let them to spend some more time together before we depart, surely?"

Goroth chuckles.

"Even if you waited a week, it would will be mere moments to someone as long-lived as Tam. You should not delay. You will never have enough time to give."

"If it's just the three of us, then let's hope that the area being acidic enough to require these rings means there will be fewer lizards also. We have slain over twenty now, but I somehow imagine a village will be a little difficult to manage with only three." The dragonborn grimaces, "And if we are to show no mercy, we would be slaying those that are not combatants, too. Truly an entire force. I ill like the sound of that."

Goroth frowns at Varsk. "Be grateful for what you have been given. Do not ask for more."

((There's still 6 of you as far as you'd know :) Korrik, Merric and Kal are in the other party))

Turning to Gwen (who I assume is asking about the staff?): "I do not, only that it has a depth of power to it that is far greater than it appears. Maybe you can use it, maybe you cannot. Either way, be wary."

To Mehriv: "You know there is a village there? How can this be? If you have already been to the dead city, you should have told us!"

Lizard Group
Korrik freezes mid-climb, sees nothing, and shouts up to Kal for instructions on what's going on. His injured hand aches.

Temple Group
Shossk and Locke step up to the door and put their weight behind pulling it open, which it does, more easily than either expect. As the heavy stone door slowly begins to swing open, both are hit with the smell of old smoke and oil, and hear a quiet wooden scraping sound from further inside the dark room. At the same time, Locke feels a little extra weight catch at the door, like something has been pulled tight against it. His trap-senses are tingling, but the momentum of the heavy door keeps it swinging open...

((You have time to take one action each if you'd like to try and alter your current circumstance in some way before whatever is happening, happens))

"It is an assumption. Any tribe or race would elect to build their foundations close to the root of their faith. If they have not set their camps in that area then I would not know what to expect."
