"That was unpleasant. Does that sort of thing happen often amongst civilized folk?" Kal asks softly, so only the group will hear.

"Fun is in the eye of the beholder. (Which is better than the one that turns you to stone...) But you're right, all sorts is exactly what I'm here for. Variety is the spice of life, even if that spice is sometimes lemongrass."

Kal sticks closely to the group, trying to be more reserved in his gawking.

Oh sorry, I had not seen the update when I read trough all the actions yesterday :/

Darr├╝k scratches his beard, thinking to himself that he should have followed the others instead.
With a nod of his head he decides that if there is still time to do so, he will.
Having seen how the group jolted and jumped their way into town, he feels assured some one has noted the rather flamboyant path of acrobatic non humans. So he heads out at an easy pase, asking if anyone has seen them if he feels lost.
(if he about the Dancing Minstrel Inn he'll just ask for that instead)

taking average on any rolls needed if I'm allowed. (my phone is not good friends with that dice. Roller)
That will be:
Insight 13
Investigation 10
Persuasion 11
Survival 15
-Best regards LAYF

"Oh, I think there might be trouble," Syli comments airily. "Anyone else catch how that sailor referred to our destination as 'not the best part of town'? We're going to want to keep our guard up. And anyone with more than electrum might want to keep an eye on their purse as well."

The unpleasant exchange largely put behind you, most of you head east along the riverside. You resist the urge to gawk and get lost again, and instead follow the directions you were given, following the wooden docks along the riverbank until you reach the cobbled street that will hopefully lead you to the Common Quarter and the Market Square. You follow the cobbled street uphill for a little while, passing what looks like a brothel, and what smells like a tannery, as well as a few other shops selling the tools of various trades. Beggars are fairly commonplace, and you also spot a few street-sellers walking amongst the pedestrians, offering dubious-looking foods, cheap trinkets and scruffy-looking "pets" for sale. In the upper-storey windows of the buildings to either side, people shout to each other, passing stories, bits of gossip and occasional insults.

As you come to the top of the hill, the street opens up into a wide and open square. At the centre is a low stone platform, from which a tall young man in turquoise robes appears to be proselytizing to uninterested passers-by. Various stalls have been set up around the square, but these ones seem to be more permanent than the ones in the cobbled street and seem to be selling some better-quality wares. Around the edges of the square you spot a communal well and some larger buildings, including a general store, an armoury and (finally!) the long sought-after Dancing Minstrel Inn.

Darruk saunters towards the town to catch back up with the others, casually wandering amongst the boats and the crowds under the hot morning sun. As he wanders, he pauses to ask a likely-looking stranger if they've seen his companions, but is only met with shrugs. Eventually overhearing someone mention the Dancing Minstrel directly, he manages to get some rough directions towards the "Common Market Square" and heads off in a generally-uphill direction.

(Darruk is about 15-20 minutes behind the rest of the party if he continues his leisurely pace).

--------------------------

LAYF: "Take 10" and "Take 20" aren't rules in 5e any more, so you basically need to make active skills checks for anything that requires them. I will probably not require this many rolls for so many trivial tasks going forward, but whatever. For now I think it probably helps you guys get a feel for the rules, and it helps me figure out how the pacing works in a forum vs real life.

"Hopefully their food is decent!"

I head towards the inn, pushing open the door and walking in.

((Was this a contact of mine or Mehr's? Do we know what they look like?))

What types of "pets" are they? Gwen looks briefly at the pets before going to the Common Square. "And better pets. These poor things don't look like they ate in a while."

((the seller was your contact, but he's apparently unable to meet you in person for some reason so he's made arrangements for you to collect your things at the Inn. Aside from boding REALLY well for your new venture, in meta terms it just seemed fitting to make you start off at least in the vicinity of a tavern

PS burns I thought they might catch your eye :)))

I'd never have guessed ;) make me a perception check and I'll tell you what you see as you pass (but you'll be able to explore the town more thoroughly later when everyone goes shopping).

Gwen casts an interested glance at the animals for sale, but all she sees are a couple of mangy looking cats and what appears to be a particularly garish pigeon.

Syli pauses as she glances at the well. "I'll follow you boys in in just a moment," she comments, stepping away from the group and going to the well. Drawing a bucket of water, she opts to refill her waterskin (and quench her own thirst)... while also discreetly glancing around for anything that seems out-of-place or suspicious (at least in regards to her group, anyway).

Perception (+5): 18 (well hallelujah, a decent roll at last. :confetti: )

"Yes, that does seem to be the way of human nobles and their sort. My people are... Different. We have our hierarchy, I will not deny that, but if you are useful you are useful, if you are not you are made to be."

Mehriv makes for the tavern and sets to making contact with their broker. (Was he told who to look for, or how to identify them?)
