"No problem! Anyway, excuse me will you? I've really got to get lunch started or there'll be a riot! See you when you come back about those rooms!"

With that, he heads back into the kitchen.

Chuckling at the idea of being the top half of an expert, I finish my meal and push the empty plate back.

"Well... Ready to see if Holm gave us as good a deal as he insisted he was?"

Syli chortles. The kid was good, she'd have to give him that, although the big production he made wasn't necessarily the wisest idea. Nevertheless, the wood elf gets an idea in her head, and casually follows in the same direction the kid took off in, seeing if she could track him to where he was planning to hide (or, probably, live).

I think we've found our name. D&D it is.

Deliveries & Delvers (D&D 5e)

Post by thinkslogically » Wed Jan 18, 2017 7:49 pm

Syli smiles to herself and decides to follow the boy through the square. He's got quite a head start on her, but as luck would have it, she spots finds his tattered old costume jacket discarded near the entrance to an alleyway. A barking laugh from the end of the lane stops her from running straight in, and she feigns a sudden interest in a second-hand book stall as she subtly tries to catch what is happening. Annoyingly, the noise from the street easily drowns out any conversations that might be happening down there and there's too much junk to see... She could risk sneaking closer, but it might be safer to stay put.

Meanwhile, others decide that the best possible name for their campaign new venture is Deliveries & Delvers: Five Experts, pay Sam for their meals and happily head off to find their new premises. According to the bill of ownership, your new place is at the top of Morningstar Crescent.

"Ooh! I know where that is! There's this one place down there where you can see women dancing with no clothes on if you- <ahem> I mean, so I've HEARD. You know, from bar talk and stuff. You know where it is? Need a guide? I can take you!"

Sam appears out of nowhere to offer his assistance. You suspect an ulterior motive.

"No, I don't know... bar talk? Whatever do you mean?"
I try, but can't keep a straight face, and crack up laughing.

"Heh, he. If you can just point us in the right direction, I think we'll try to find it. We have to learn our way around some time! But I promise, if we can't find it, we'll make our way back here, and you can show us the way to the dancing... I mean, to Morningstar Crescent."

Gwen tries to keep a strait face as she speaks. "And where would the dancing naked good looking men be then?"

She really should know better, but Syli's curiosity starts to get the better of her. Was this kid working for someone else? And why? Nevertheless, she tries slipping forward to get a better view of what's going on...

Stealth (+5): 8

(Kinda figured this'd be where my luck would run out, but I guess that's what the sling and Poison Spray is for.)

I do an awkward shimmy dance when the kid isn't looking.

"Speaking of our fifth expert, anyone seen Syli?"

Sam turns crimson as the others laugh at him.

"Men?! I don't- ... Just take the third street on the left and then second street on the right. You really can't miss it. I mean... or so I've heard... I've got to go!"

Sam flees to the kitchen, much to your general amusement and you head off to find Syli and/or your new digs. Outside in the marketplace you notice a small scene playing out. It would appear a middle-aged woman is rather upset at having apparently been robbed and is demanding that "Something Be Done! (for goodness' sake!)".

Darruk notices two guardsmen at the edge of the square seem to be trying very hard to look busy and not get involved. Given the burgeoning heat of the late morning, you're not entirely sure you blame them... None of you see Syri.

... But that's mostly because she's down an alleyway, pushing her luck.

Focusing on stealthily creeping up on whoever was down the alley, she fails to notice the cat hiding behind a bucket that leaps out in surprise and runs hissing up the lane.

"Someone's coming!
"So?"
"What do you mea-!
"Shhh!"

A tall, burly human-like figure steps towards her, their features partly hidden in the shadows of the lane.

"You lost? You look lost. Market Square is that way."

The person gestures towards the square and folds their arms.

-------------------------------------------------------

OOC: I just had Kal tag along since you're not really going anywhere in particular at the moment (figured you'd want to decide whether to look for Syli before heading to your shop or not).

((Could I parkour/leap/scramble up somewhere to get a better vantage over the crowd to look for Syli? I'm not much use at crotch height.))

Of course! Describe what you'd like to do and give me an acrobatics check. You can have advantage too since you're probably fairly used to dodging crowds and the like.

Not seeing anything a whole lot other than a dragonborn backside, much less Syli who'd remained outside, I duck between Darr├╝k and Gwen, using my quarterstaff to help vault me up to where I can bound off a stack of crates to the low canvas roof of one of the vendor's stalls.
