Re: The Sundered Way
Randy grimaces.
"Looks and smells like a bunch of undead. Pretty similar to the ones that our group fought prior to meeting up with you." He shows them the cloth.
"This desert is literally crawling with them. Last bunch was because of a mummy lord. He/it apparently had parties of zombies out kidnapping people to make into undead. We killed the mummy lord, but it's possible that there could be some of his servants still running around."

Re: The Sundered Way
"Mummy lord? In the crevasse near where he found us? It wasn't sending anyone out to get bodies, the sporking orcs were dumping them in...or forcing us to do it." He gets some heat in his voice at the reminder and looks over at Galt and Tren adding more heat.
"Once they ambushed the parties they'd weakened by poisoning the wells and killed nearly everyone they had us clean up the spot and dump the bodies. Aye saw the forking zombies down there. A mummy lord?"
He takes a deep breath and says more quietly,
"Do we take care of them? So they don't wander to the dragonborn settlement and kill a child or something?"

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy looks thoughtful. He then repeats the conversation to the dragonborn and asks what they want to do.

Galt and Tren share a look between his one eye and her two eyes, and give Dornikal a resolute nod.
As Randy poses the question to the dragonborn, the most senior of them considers.
"The un-living don't make for good neighbors. Tracks not old, should at least check, so we know."

Randy gives a nod. He unlimbers his bow and nocks an arrow, then bends to the task of tracking the zombies. "Coljin, lend a hand. Let's see about putting these things to rest."

Re: The Sundered Way
Dornikal nods at the decision.
"Best to be rid of them now, we can handle them but who knows when they'll wander across someone who can't."
He looks at the tracks in the sand trying to see what exactly they are dealing with then keeps an eye out for any movement across the dunes as they get going.
Survival;Perception: Survival on the tracks then perception as they go: 1D20+2 = [8]+2 = 10
1D20+5 = [14]+5 = 19

(Should Ulmwin start shouting that they can do it for bardic inspiration? Might as well, before I forget to use it )

Re: The Sundered Way
The tracks are easy enough to follow, and Randy picks up a dark smudge moving along the sand, crossing between some dunes and going out of sight, perhaps a half mile away. It would seem that you could continue following the tracks, or attempt to swing around and cut them off, if you manage to do so quietly without being seen.

Re: The Sundered Way
"Planning for the smart kind pretty much like planning for normal, not dead fighters?"
Dornikal watches the black dot of their target.
"So moving round them and setting an ambush? They been walking a pretty straight line so it shouldn't be tough. What is in this direction anyways? Can ye ask the dragonborn?"
He also tries to figure out what they may be heading to, if it is anything he might know.
Where they going (survival): 1D20+2 = [9]+2 = 11

Re: The Sundered Way
Coljin reminds everyone how his undead turning works, "If the creature is not destroyed by the turning, and only fleeing from me (Which lasts for one minute), the turning will come to an end if the creature takes any damage, so remember that." He asks Randy to relay that info to the Dragonborn.

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy obliges and passes along the information and the questions.
"The fact that this thing is out here by itself and still surviving might be an indicator that it's more than just a basic zombie. There are plenty of things out here that wouldn't think twice about snacking on an undead."

Re: The Sundered Way
Dornikal isn't able to determine anything beyond the general direction, and the dragonborn can't think of any landmarks that would be out that way.

Re: The Sundered Way
They exchange looks.
"Might ... All following the Prophecy send those to represent at least, some tribes all come, but others may be tending to food still."
They look a bit more worried... undead roaming empty desert is one thing, undead posing a hazard to people is another.

Re: The Sundered Way
"Well, that decides it. We need to destroy that thing before it finds one of the tribes and attacks it. We'll try cutting it off and ambushing it."
He quickly lays out a strategy and then
Randy heads out, looking to get around ahead of the undead and set up to attack from the front with a squad to block it's progress and allow the others to hit it from the rear.

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy casts Pass without a Trace for him and his squad.
Stealth with PwoT: 1D20+16 = [17]+16 = 33
+ 3 in addition gives 36.
(( Randy and his squad should be able to all but tap dance on the critter's head and not be noticed! ))

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy and squad slip off through the desert, not even leaving disturbed grains of sand in their wake. You move out and around, to where you think you should be ahead of them, and where they'd be passing through, given their heading.
((Give me a Perception at disadvantage.))
((**Edit: Actually, they can give the help action, so you can make a flat roll.))

Re: The Sundered Way
Dornikal and his team keep following but stay back until signaled or whatever timing was indicated to close.
