Re: The Sundered Way
It looks an awful lot like a snake trail to Randy... just REAL big.

Re: The Sundered Way
Yeah, that's definitely a big snake trail. The occasional breezes haven't smoothed it over with sand, so it's relatively recent.

Maji gives a soft growl at the trail, trying to figure out which way it went. He looks at Randy and writes. Hunt snake?

Re: The Sundered Way
Coljin looks at the trail, and then his eyes get big. "Ugg, how big would a snake have to be to make a trough like that??"
He digs around in his pockets and makes certain he knows exactly where his gnomish magic item is that can kind of turn him into a 'snake', so that it is close at hand if needed.
He will walk with his shield on his arm, ready for trouble.
"With the curse we have on us, this thing will certainly be wanting to fight, and maybe even be drawn to us, not sure exactly how the curse really works."

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy looks at Coljin. "It's big. REALLY big."
He reads Maj's sign. "I don't think we're going to have hunt for it, Maj. It's probably going to be hunting us...."
He looks thoughtful. "Pass the word to everyone to be on their toes. Watch the mules. This thing will be looking for them. They may sense it before we do, so if they start getting restive, we need to be paying attention."
He looks over at Tess, Holgar, and Ulmwin. "We're going to need to be quiet. No sense advertising where we're at so it can ambush us."

"Oh, you didn't hear this story yet Dornikal?" shrugging he continues, "Well, we fought a snake mummy who a snake cult was trying to raise as a minor god, and well, even though we destroyed him, I think, we did all get cursed and now all types of snakes attack us on sight."

"Well, actually," he states loudly, "Tess was the most cursed, so she'd be the best bait."
He waits until he sees a reaction from her then winks and grins.

"If we wait here, it's more of 'when' it finds us and we have to fight. If we move on, there's still a chance we might slip by if we're careful. We just know it's a giant snake. We don't know if it's poisonous or not. Heck, it could be a snake demon for all we know. This cursed desert doesn't seem to lack for things like that."

Re: The Sundered Way
"Fine then, lets get moving."
If they decide to go Dornikal will take point and keep a look out for a snake. Or a snake demon? What would that look like? A snake with horns? Or would it have hooves...somewhere? If it has legs it isn't snake so it would be be a demon lizard?
These troubling thoughts keep him from being very effective on point.
If they decide to stay he will make a small circular patrol around the caravan, keeping the wagon in sight at all times, watching for signs of the demon snake (and being just as distracted).
He does this figuring he will be less of a target for the snake than the cursed individuals.
Watching and listening for big snakes: 1D20+4 = [6]+4 = 10

Ulmwin figures this is a good point to stop playing that tuba he definitely actually owns.
"Yikes... Yeah- Best to hurry on if we can. This ain't exactly putting my thoughts to rest we're gonna get to our destination and be able to get the curse lifted easy though."

((what does the terrain look like on either side of the trail? Are there still dunes and stuff around, or is it more rocky? Any plants?))
"It left a big enough trail, why don't one of you go and see where it went? Might be you're worrying over nothing."
((No, she will never learn.))

I like how you refuse us having Dornikal and Randy be a thing and then promptly go ahead and discuss "snake" size with each other
"Might be an idea to be scouting in pairs the very least, but I'll join the scouting. I feel confident enough in my magic to keep the snake at bay should it notice us."

Re: The Sundered Way
"Snakes are tough to kill. And the larger they are, the tougher they get. I don't think it's a good idea to split up. This thing could be as tough to put down as the vrock was."
He thinks on what he knows about snake like creatures of this size:
arcana: 1D20+1 = [16]+1 = 17
"I suppose it even could be a Naga." he says slowly. "That could be bad, what with the curse on us. Some of them are spellcasters. "

Holger likewise tries to remember something about nagas but coming up with nothing causes him to take other means in use.

Re: The Sundered Way
Maji, with your Survival check, you'd also have been able to deduce from the way the sand is mounded up, that the snake was headed in a WNW direction.
Randy, you'd know that there are big snakes about in the wild, and that for one to get this size, it wouldn't necessarily be a magical race, or require magical intervention to be so. It does seem a bit larger that what you recall naga's are reported to be.

Re: The Sundered Way
Nem shrugs Ily bck to attention.
"Go and take a look, would you? See what you can smell out. If it is a Naga, we can probably talk with it. If it's a regular snake, run!"
She sends him up the snake trail, following his nose and sneaking as best he can. She'll telepathically watch what he senses until he gets to the edge of his range.
Stealth; Perception (smell): 1D20+5 = [19]+5 = 24
2D20.HIGH(1)+3 = [7, 9]+3 = 12
