"Yeah. Figured I'd take on a disguise while running off. Turned out to not be necessary though." the kid seems to shrug, though making sure no one is in listening range, his voice now more childish again. He's about to say something else as he notices the man again, and realizes what's going on soon enough... Sticking out his tongue at the man, before dashing off through the door. He figures he probably ought to just find a quiet place, change back, and try again.

The bald guy chases you out, much to the amusement of some of the other patrons.

"You show that kid what's what, Kharl!"

"He's lucky you're so slow!"

He glowers at a few of them before returning to his post.

Randy rolls his eyes, sighs, and leans back in his chair and looks tiredly towards Coljin. "It's going to be a minor miracle if half the group doesn't wind up in prison before we get out of here."

Ulmwin eventually appears back in his glorious self (Unless Spider forces him to make some arbitrary rolls and he fucks those up.), meeting with Randy and Coljin again in earnest

"I was thinking maybe there's something useful I could have done, but forget it I guess... Any news from the others?"

"No. You and Coljin are the first I've seen since I got here. Not sure where Dornikal and Tess are at. I'm half expecting to have to go bail Maj and Holger out of jail. Maybe we'll get lucky and the guards will let him off with a warning." He takes a drink. "That'll probably depend on Holger keeping his mouth shut and not bragging, so I'm not real hopeful. I've rented rooms for us all here. We're good through the next 3 days...as long as we don't do anything that gets us thrown out."

"They're at least fine." Ulmwin let's know, keeping as quiet as possible, it ain't really talk for all ears to hear. "I kept watch for a while, they just got escorted away by the sound of things. So yeah, let's hope for a warning, otherwise we'll have to bail them out."

"...Talking about bailing out, can I borrow some silvers for drink and food? I did kind of get pursed back there."

"They did, didn't they? I'd forgotten about that." He looks mildly amused. "Well, I guess I can."

He signals the waitress. "He's needing to order. I'll cover it."

"I'll just have an ale for now." he says when the same waitress as before comes by, and he can't help but give an almost slightly familiar grin. "Food shall have to come later. What's on the menu however if I may ask, so I can mull it over in my mind..?"

"He won't have much patience with you putting on airs and looking to impress. Just be straightforward and concise... try not to ramble on as much."

"I'd also recommend not doing any of that magic spoon."

"Thanks, A shame we didn't meet under better circumstances. Maybe at a tavern with which can afford some entertainment if I can manage to be short and concise."

Holger waves a friendly goodbye to the guards left outside as he heads in. He's finally had it with Maji clawing him. He'll grab Maji and put him in his lap once he sits down in the chair waiting for the captain arrive.

"Maji stop with the claws!"

Holger is content with waiting for the Captain to meet with him.

Maji squrims in Holger's arms, but mostly complies.

Nem sends Ily to go and check the other grate (can she fit through it and does it smell like it just goes to a sewer or something?))

Kid Ulmwin ducks out and returns in a few minutes as Gnome Ulmwin, moving over to join his companions and briefing them on what little he knows of what happened to Holger and Maji.

After lamenting his misfortune and getting Randy to agree to cover his meal, you flag down the server.

"Sure dear. Ale, we've got a bitter, a brown and a dark. Food wise, your friends had the eggs and turnips, and the spicy sausage. We've also got pickled veal and cheese, a veg stew, and mutton one of three ways with bread and cheese."

She points out the chalkboard behind the bar.

The guards don't wave back, though a couple at least look somewhat amused, now that it seems for the moment that Holger and Maji aren't a threat.

Eventually you hear footsteps return, and a muffled conference outside before the door swings open and the squad leader enters with a grizzled older human who must be the Watch Commander.

You get a whiff of Divination magic from his chest. There is a silver chain visible, perhaps some sort of pendant?

He regards you with a calm expression, before having a seat and placing his hands on the table between you, his eyes roaming across you and Maji before he speaks in a quiet voice.

"I hear you and your "pet" have been using magics to disturb the peace. Besides the cat, are either of you currently utilizing magics?"

Ily heads up to the other grate, and isn't able to find any catches to permit further movement, nor are you able to spot any though his eyes. It would seem that is the end of the line as far as traveling up this sluice, though with time and tools, you're certain you could get through. While it is damp stone, he catches the whiff of stale water and earth more than the reek of sewer. The bars are small enough for him to move through, if you would like him to investigate further.

Holger points to the mage armor

"Pretty much all the time, abjuration magic to protect me.

Holger watches the captain trying to get a sense of his reaction as he wonders if it is an amulet of truth or something like that.

Maji gives a slight hiss at 'pet', not liking the idea of being Holger's pet at all. He shakes his head as an answer to the old human.

The Watch Commander silently makes eye contact with Holger and just holds it.

((yeah, let's do that. No need to break in just yet, but it might be useful. She'll send him in to be all stealthy and explore for a few hours and promises to resummon him later that night))

For her part, she'll return to the street and head back towards the main square where all the fuss kicked off.

Ily slips out of range as you return to where people have resumed moving about. The dropped laundry has either been reclaimed or stolen, but there doesn't seem to be anyone about from earlier to identify you as having been part of the group with a magic cat.

Dornikal eventually finds his way to Renshaw, and spots a sign with a three legged goat.

Holger smiles and keeps eye contact with a slight hint of a friendly "what?"

He maintains silent eye contact a while longer before sitting back and seems to be thinking things over.

He abruptly stands, a decision made and moves to the door.

(( Yeah, you have to pick the circumstances carefully in order to pull off giving someone "The Look" . Holger's not a good candidate to try it on ( for obvious reasons). ))
