Re: The Sundered Way
While the hostage taking cultist stands unsure of his next action, the dark robed leader makes his move. He dips his shoulder before swinging his arm back and up, twisting shrugs free of Yoseph's grip. Heedless of the blade at his neck and clawed hand down his cutlery drawers, he begins muttering in a tongue that is guttural, but interspersed with sibilant whispers. He moves to step forward towards the pit, arms raised, and eyes closed...

Re: The Sundered Way
*Back in the Cave*
As the dark robed leader continues muttering in his unpleasant sounding language, the hostage taker joins in, stepping closer to the pit... from which you hear the voice of the third, injured cultist echoing up in the same gutturally slippery tongue.
A separate whisper builds, a whisper that none of you understand...
As the whisper permeates the cave, the two cultists throw back their heads, eyes staring at the ceiling and their muttering grows more fervent.

Re: The Sundered Way
....Are...we allowed to do anything? Many of us had readied actions but you didn't say we could use them or anything :/ Why are they allowed to move? Pretty sure nobody posted here because they were worried they would get told off for doing action out of turn.

Re: The Sundered Way
((If you have a readied action, you can do it. So far the leader hasn't really moved forward... I was trying to convey the idea that he was about to, and give you guys a chance to do whatever. He hasn't left his initial 5ft square. As far as acting out of turn, that doesn't really apply if you are using a readied action, provided that you use the action you readied. There is a bit of a grey area when it comes to the triggering event and if it doesn't happen, or you use it early, but pretty much for those of you that said you were going to be ready to do X, you can do X. Where I would have to put my foot down would be if you attempted to do something other than what you said you were readying to do... for example, Maji can't decide to thorn whip someone, that wasn't what he prepared to do.))

Maji attempts to casteate the leader, it did not work as planned. Scimitar : 1D20+4 = [5]+4 = 9
1D6+2 = [2]+2 = 4
1D6+2 = [2]+2 = 4

Short sword (proficient): 2D20.HIGH(1) +4 = [5, 1]+4 = 9
Randiwaith starts to dig his sword in when he feels to leader stop due to BB's action. He contents himself with half throttling him with the flat of the blade.

Maji: Dark Robes grunts in pain as your hand is flooded by blood. He crumples to the ground, chuckling as he quickly bleeds out. The whispers fade, and the other cultist stops muttering as he sees his leader get his peas shucked. The cultist in the pit continues on for a bit until he is aware of the others having stopped.
Yoseph turns away in disgust.

"...Wow." Ulmwin mutters, averting his gaze kind of awkwardly as well, own confidence quite shaken as well.
"So... You don't wanna deal with that as well, do you?" he says, directing himself towards the cultist that hopefully has learned it would really be in his best interest to let the hostage go.

Ulmwin: The cultist steps away from the hostage, seemingly unsure what to do... surrendering and putting himself at the mercy of the dragonborn doesn't seem to appeal to him. He spins his scimitar around, pressing the curve and point against his stomach. His eyes lock on yours as he steps towards the pit.

Re: The Sundered Way
"Really? You would kill yourself for that man? For whatever twisted ideals he whispered to you?"
"Well... Be my guest. I'm not gonna be jumping in the defense of your kind. But for what it matters- I am a gnome of my word. I promised that if you surrender peacefully and put down the weapon... You won't be harmed."
Given the chance Ulmwin makes sure the cultist can't change his mind and decide to take the hostage with him, moving to the man's defence- Assuming he was too far in shock to sensibly back off himself, that is.

Ulmwin: The cultist makes no move towards you or the hostage as you scurry forward and draw him back.
"I die not for him, but for my Master."
He topples forward into the pit...

Re: The Sundered Way
OOC: Not sure where we are in the turns, but when Randerwaiths comes up next:
Randerwaith decides that it might be prudent to keep their prisoner alive for questioning:
Medicine/first aid: 1D20+3 = [13]+3 = 16
He works on stopping Dark Robe's bleeding and stabilizing him.
He conversationally tells BB in Drac: "We need this one alive for questioning."
Glancing over at the drama at the pit: "This can't be good..." in common.
OOC: Going to be busy for a bit this morning, so that's why I'm posting now. Short of a major demon bursting out of the pit, I don't foresee Randy's actions changing.

Coljin watches this all play out, eyes growing wider as it all continues.
He moves over next to the Father WIlim, "This is all concerning. The cult. The Mouther. That..." He looks over at Maji and the castrated man.
"Well at least the hostage IS safe."

"Well... That is something..."
Assuming the battle is over, Nemeia will walk over to the pit and look in.
"Does anyone have a rope? There's still a live one in there."
(if the battles still going, shell say the same thing but stay where she is)

Randerwaith: You manage to slow the blood pouring from dark robe's groin, his breathing remains shallow, but he's still there.
Nemeia: As you speak, you peer into the pit. The cultist who threw himself in is impaled on his own blade, and his fall seems to have take the life of the other cultist as well, as they are both quite dead.

Re: The Sundered Way
Randerwaith turns to Coljin: "Father Burberry, I could use a little assistance here. I've slowed his bleeding, but his condition is shaky still." To the group in general: "If anyone has some rope, we can properly truss him and his henchman this time and prevent any further shenanigans. I think we should try to get them out of here as soon as possible. There's no telling what other surprises are down here, and I would dearly love to ask these gentlemen some questions in a secure place."
