There probably would be a lot of tips...

If you make him wear anything silly or demeaning, it will be a lot extra.

Does it count if I swear a bowtie would look dashing?

Yes. Maji has no reason to trust Ulmwin.

Coljin has the Speak with Small Beasts and excellent Animal Handling, maybe he can train some dancing dogs to accompany Maji during performances.

Yeah, he should actually have a small army of attack squirrels or badgers or something. But we haven't spent much time anywhere near a forest. But yeah, he's probably an expert dog trainer if he puts his mind to it.

Well... probably a forest closer to here than to Kreldoran's tower... though I'll be interested to see how a squirrel swarm can be put to use tracking down his associate and the orb.
Realized that you're searching for Denaria, and showed up in Deneir's sanctum, but any similarity between names is complete coincidence, had her name first, and then Deneir was the best fit for what I wanted deity wise. Not like when I named a dwarf Holgor.

So, I've had a couple of you ask, so thought I might let you in on my behind the scenes motivations for having you encounter Kreldoran and pushing you towards this mission.

Just in case you don't want to know my thoughts...
► Show Spoiler
Desert travel is a forking slog, by intent. Having cleric and druid magic certainly makes it much easier, but I didn't want to just say 'ok, you guys travel a few weeks and you get to Estmont'. Even with your magics, it's quite the undertaking... but perhaps not best suited to drawing out through a forum game.... if it takes a year to cross the desert, yeah, it's going to hammer home that crossing a desert is no easy task, but perhaps that isn't as important as keeping things moving?
► Show Spoiler
So far, you've experienced limited city life in game, Circle Vale is more of a town, and a town that only exists because of the Abbey, so isn't really representative. The Eastern Cities are not racially affiliated the way that those to the North, South and West of the continent are, and while we could cover a lot of stuff with history checks or the like, they (and Circle Vale) are more the exception to the rule.... but you haven't experienced the rule yet.
► Show Spoiler
Questions about the astronomy and cosmology of the world got me thinking about a grumpy old dwarf with 6 Charisma that I played in a one shot who had the Sage Astronomer background... gave him a dozen levels and a tower, and there you go.
► Show Spoiler
That being said, since you quite literally are being dropped in the middle of a different setting, my intent is not to force anyone to confront a central conflict of your backstory in this side mission that is intended to be a narrative device to 1) get you more rapidly (and interestingly?) across the desert 2) expose you to other cultures and societies beyond the more accepting Circle Vale (and to a lesser extend the Eastern Cities, once you reach them), and 3) give me an excuse to see what a fun one shot character would be as a high level wizard. What I'm not intending is to drop you right on the doorstep of your nemesis. I'm not going to have Kreldoran's sphere being held by the various mentors, abusers, and nemeses in your backgrounds.
That's not to say that there isn't the possibility for you to discover threads that will lead you to information or future encounters, just that anything of that sort is something that you'd have to discover along the way, and not something I've baked into this job.

I appreciate the quick travel but I will miss meeting the dragonborn tribes again as well as the tent city before the desert which was an interesting concept.

Maji was looking forward to seeing the desert dragonborn tribe.

Yeah... I suppose you could have Kreldoran drop you on the east side of the desert to be able to hit the tent city and proceed on to Estmont. Maybe economical reasons to try to visit the tent city first, before taking goods to Estmont to try to sell them.
Or negotiate payment for the job to take the desert transport off the table and add appropriate compensation instead?

Sorry, been at a conference all day yesterday and just starting to catch up on the threads. Nem is going to follow Coljins advice for the time being and keep Ily as a polecat.

I know what you're referring to, but in the US a polecat is another name for the stripped skunk. Not exactly the thing you want if you're trying to avoid attention!

BBC television has taught me a pole cat is not a skunk. And lots of other words!
We are bloody well educated now, and we are well chuffed about that!
Ok, enough typing. Time to eat my Scrummly pork pie.

Well, if you're rolling around with a skunk, most folks aren't going to bother you!

True. But it might be hard to get people to give us directions/help us. Might look at us as the stereotypical hillbilly clan instead.

Since you noted that Randy has a sizable arsenal I feel like I should mention that Dornikal has:
A spear, a warhammer, a long sword, a greataxe, a heavy crossbow and 14 javelins. And shield. Honestly it is too much but having Korgal's greataxe is sweet revenge and the crossbow is a memory of a friend.
I don't think he would have put anything in the bag of holding, just because you never know!

TIL. that's not what I'm going for with Ily, but now I know. Picture a stoat/ermine instead if that works better, just give him a wee bandit mask patch on his face for adorableness
Also, Nem is certainly not trying to avoid attention

Polecat I knew, skunk, ermine and stoat are new to me.
Edit: Googling it and I can see that are weasels or ferret things. Furry snakes with legs.

Aye, and they all fall under weasel stats anyway. The variation is just for flavour and cuteness. If we go anywhere snowy, he'll be all white and adorable. Saying that, he can change to a bunch of other forms of we need him to. It just costs a bit.

Yup, he can fly, or swim for the low, low cost of 10 gold worth of charcoal, incense and herbs and an hour of casting.

Speaking of, I need to stock up on those. Nem's got enough for one more casting, but that's almost certainly not going to last

I also figured out a reason to have Maji and Coljin in the "band" without having them perform. You can just cast enhance ability on us to give us advantage on our performance!
