hmm......with the terms given it sounds like it is kind of describing the minesweeper game. Flags/ explosions.

People that were in the game and playing here are , badge, game, and dave.

As badge was killer last round and game helped (or knew already) the code i'm going to go with dave

So the colors seemed like they might be important. So looking at the color codes:
[color=#1EB852
[color=#AE147A
[color=#851EB8
[color=#AE147A
[color=#47AE14
[color=#D70A3D
[color=#7AE147
[color=#28F5C2
[color=#AD147A
Nothing strikes me as overly obvious though. I tried applying the substitution I end up with hpbhbhpbh... (gibberish) not much you can do with only 6 possible letters anyways. Do any of those color codes mean anything to anyone?

hmm...Well, what if each color refers to a certain color of goblin in the minesweeper games?

The song is referencing is American pie but the lines are all in the wrong order and some of the words are switched about... Much like how my family sing this one at Christmas parties (it's quite embarrassing). When I get to a computer ill have a better look, but I think we're looking at a code within a code.

Well it's stuck in my head now :) The line "we sang dirges in the dark" is what tipped me off because we're all very good at getting the first lines of the verses and then the last lines. Everything in the middle is just mumbly rambling mostly :lol:

Anyway, I shifted to the other side of the room to my laptop now and have this:

the killer surely had hit her mark, (no google results; also none for "had surely". Is "her" significant or red herring?)
while we sang dirges in the dark (American Pie)
with the jester on the sidelines in a cast, (American Pie)
leaving flags flying at half-mast. (no google results)
we realize now what passed that day, (no google results; realize = american spelling)
zipping quickln along its way. (no google results)
explosions fallen all o'er the bay, (no google results)
leaving us nm voices with which to pray, (no google results)
the day the music went astray. (American Pie??? Should be "the day the music died")

So the American Pie thing might not be a real clue... Anyway, assuming that GC's decoding is correct, we've got some misspelling / missed letters which might be important (bolded) - n = y; m = o. Maybes : en = ing, ' = v.

One colour is repeated, giving us these lines:
while we sang dirges in the dark (UEVOG UG HRDJ YVNJGH VD QEG YRNC)
leaving flags flying at half-mast. (OGRIVDJ PORJH POTVDJ RQ EROP-LRHQ.)
the day the music went astray. (QEG YRT QEG LZHVS UGDQ RHQNRT.)

"Nm" is a typo from the killer. They wanted to say "no", but got confused with their own code and decoded the "o" (O=l) instead of encoding it (K=o). The same with "quickln".

Yup, but if it was a deliberate typo then it's a clue. If it was an erroneous typo then you've just made me extremely suspicious of your apparent insider-knowledge!

It's not insider knowledge. I just noticed the coincidence between the typo and the code. Too unlikely to happen randomly, so not seeing any purpose to these typos I made my conclusion.
But if I was the killer, I wouldn't make that typo. Either I would write a program to do coding for me or I would be more methodical and replace letters in a text editor like I did when decoding this kill. So there is two versions. First, I'm a civilian. Second, I am the killer and I did routine of decoding the kill to avert suspicion, and those typos are deliberate.
Oh, and I predict Badge laching onto this post, claiming this is the "squeal" of killer being caught.

How did you solve the code so quickly? I can't see the pattern there, it just looks like each letter is represented by another random letter.

It's takes alot of guess work, but once you can solve basic phrases like THE...in a phrase, then it quickly becomes easier. There are quotes that are jumbled like this in my newspaper all the time. Some people are quite good at solving them very quickly. However, if you used a word document to erase-replace, you could come up with a meaningful solution fairly quickly.

Seventeen hours in and there are only two votes, one of which being an abstain? This is the least accusatory round I've ever seen.
My game:
Hunters of Letrua; Character list
Also Player / Monster stats, skill lists.

My characters:
Tugs Tails, the goblin that was sort of a trapper and wears a bear's tail at his neck, for some reason - Lair of the Mountain King (Run by Thinks)
Alex Sparo, A city boy, poor of sight, who has learned to manipulate people and make the most of what he, and others, have - Trinity Isles (Run by Mort)
Mehriv Turajin, a Noble Dragonborn Sorcerer sent from his clan because he wasn't dragony enough. - The Wandering Archipelago (Run by Thinks)

Well... That was quick. If I hadn't said anything about voting the killer would have been lynched on one vote, in the first round. Dave was the killer. It was him. Right, moving on then.

You say swish, I say I'm running dangerously low on killers. And having one eliminated immediately just means there's less time for more to show up.
