Exp!

Drake and Izzy gain 722 exp to distribute among their pokemon, and 2 misc trainer exp.

I'm also disappointed I did not get any actual hatemail.

Izzy gets 2xp (putting her 1 off from Lv12  )

Kay gains 63xp, hitting Lv31 and gaining +1HP. She also forgets Bite and learns Razor Wind.
Zeke gets 218xp, for providing morale support. He shoots up to Lv27, learning Poison Fang in place of Astonish, and gaining +1 HP, ATK, and SPD.
Maku earns 345xp for his efforts, jumping up to Lv30. He gains +2HP, +2SATK, and forgets Arm Thrust to learn Smelling Salts.
Finally, Nate gets 90xp. He hits Lv31, gaining +1DEF.

Also Fern earns 6xp for being punched

So, there's a couple things team stadium and team nurse could do still... There's at least the thing with the other group to be done still, and Alex is soon gonna be done with the gym battle- Haley and Bjorn are still in the challenge though, and how long that can take might still vary.

I dunno, what do you guys think? I can always give some inspiration if you guys just want to continue doing side stuff for now- Jack is probably gonna be interviewing the girl and such things.

Koa still has a few things he wants to do:
- He wants to use the 1 Free Tutoring service slip he got from the gym to retrain one of Kinhe's abilities, preferably one Jack trusts
- He wants to check out that place that makes pokeball cases
- Eventually he wants everyone to get together so he can make a Hearty Meal for everyone. I miss those 2 AP :shifty:

Also, would I be allowed to swap out Koa's Stamina Edge to raise Focus up to Novice? The original idea for Stamina was to combine it with Sturdy so it would be impossible to take Koa down in less than 3 hits from full, but that hasn't panned out. Not only has Stamina never actually triggered since he's gotten it, Koa's been under 100% from Injuries for ages, so it's just been a waste of an edge.

Yeah, if you want to respec that's fair. I almost feel I should be asking some kind of small price though..? If it were a matter of "I don't like playing this character anymore" that's something I would definitely want to help rework with and, in a couple instances so far even completely create a new character if just changing aspects of the current one wouldn't work... This sounds like a matter of just preferring one option over another, though, and a (potentially?) rather opportunistic one at that... After all, while focus rolls might be important for a while, soon enough you might actually do a little timeskip, heal up, then move onward and suddenly focus doesn't feel nearly as important anymore.

So... Would you be willing to throw one misc exp at it to "retrain"? :P

Would I be willing to permanently set myself back 1 exp to correct a build mistake that sounded good on paper but never actually played out in practice and likely never will? At the rate we gain Trainer exp? Not really.

If I was asking to retrain Swimmer due to it not being relevant atm, that would be opportunistic. This is me asking "I made an oops, can I undo it?"

I feel 1xp is a fair price. Wasn't Mort asking for 2-3xp last time someone wanted to respec?

Plus it's not like you're going to be falling behind on exp any time soon, Vader :P

RAW there's retraining rules on page 22, and it suggests 1 exp to retrain an Edge. I just don't like the idea of losing character progression to respec. 1 exp isn't a lot, but it's probably going to make a difference someday. Izzy's 1 exp short of leveling, after all :P

But yeah, Mort's been pretty cool about allowing small optimizations here and there thus far, so I thought I'd ask.

I mean, I am quite literally just applying RAW on this.
Sometimes, Trainers may wish to go back on certain
choices. By spending some trainer Experience to
Retrain, they can spend time changing themselves.
Retraining should be done during resting periods In-
Character, and between sessions if possible. You must
have the appropriate amount of Trainer Experience to
spend; you cannot “go back” a level to do so.
Here are your Retraining options and their associated
Experience Costs:
»» You may spend 2 Trainer Experience to Retrain a
Feature.
»» You may spend 1 Trainer Experience to Retrain an
Edge.
»» You may spend 1 Trainer Experience to move one
Stat Point to another Stat.
So, me saying you could do it without cost would just be being generous... And to be frank, this kind of raw logic does apply to the prospect of both having made a mistake, and simply not liking something.

Why would you be looking to increase focus?

edit: and of course I got ninja'd while typing this

I've always been looking to increase Focus ever since Koa's encounter with the Overseer, as well as catching Kinhe. I've already sort-of increased Koa's Focus with Royal Privilege, and with all the recent mind-stuff happening it's to the point that I'm willing to put off getting Master Intuition next level to keep increasing Focus.

I mean if I have to pay the 1 exp, I will. At that point it's a choice of 1 exp or be behind a whole level's worth of Edge selection.

Hmm... Alright, that's fair enough motivation. If you wanna switch, you get one freebie.

Soo... not to jump in on the freebie train, but can I switch out confidence artist?

I know I just used it, but overall it's been useless with the fact Irene already has too many other things she can do instead.

See, Vader? This is what happens when you allow someone to respec for free!

I guess you can respec if you want to, everyone's equal after all.

actually I was planning on asking anyways, but since everything is being dramatic still I thought it was a bad time so I was waiting for things to be a quieter. So Vader just beat me to it :p

>Vader doesn't want to spend one Misc EXP for the loss in progression.
*Glares at the person whose progression will literally never be within reach.*

But also, "This doesn't work out how it seemed on paper, I'm not happy with that" is reasonable. I just find it amusing that you're concerned about 1 EXP when I'm pretty sure you literally have the most progression of everyone.

No asking for freebies from me, I already got to pretty much entirely respect Alex... Though that one was because he was seriously just a burning heap of trash when it came to having any enjoyable characteristics to play.
My game:
Hunters of Letrua; Character list
Also Player / Monster stats, skill lists.

My characters:
Tugs Tails, the goblin that was sort of a trapper and wears a bear's tail at his neck, for some reason - Lair of the Mountain King (Run by Thinks)
Alex Sparo, A city boy, poor of sight, who has learned to manipulate people and make the most of what he, and others, have - Trinity Isles (Run by Mort)
Mehriv Turajin, a Noble Dragonborn Sorcerer sent from his clan because he wasn't dragony enough. - The Wandering Archipelago (Run by Thinks)

I also got a free respec early on, granted my main class vanished into thin air at that point so it was pretty unavoidable :P

I think Vader will always be a level in front of the rest of us since he won the tournament at the start.

In other news.. Seems it's going to be hard for Drake to get his dark gym badge now with all of this happening. Unless this is much like the pokemon series :shifty:

Well now that you mention it, I've got no use out of Chronicler since I picked it. Pretty much any other feature would have been more useful for that Arena fight... :P

Just kidding, I'm pretty happy with my build :D

The only thing I've been disappointed in is wasting Edges on Novice Focus, Intuition, and Stealth early on, when they don't have any impact on my class progression. Picking a more specialised Edge or two would probably have been better in the long run. But I'm not bothered enough to respec - I've had good use out of all three Novice skills at some point.

To burns: in that case, like I said, doesn't seem to be a way to open that vent. Trying to remove the bolts by force isn't working.

Way to almost convince me to make the guitar OP so you have to take it... :P
Oh no, you saw through my genius plan... :P

So what kinda weapon does the guitar count as? A Large Melee Weapon? And what about weapon moves? Also, do the dials give me any bonuses to playing, or are they just there for fluff?

Izzy's leaning towards not accepting at the moment, simply because of the emotional attachment to her old one. Plus, with her Pathetic Combat score, it's not like she'd ever really use it to its full potential anyway. But I'm still interested in what it can do.

And OOC, I was already planning on using her old guitar as the base for the alchemy weapon forging...though thinking about it, will that even work with a wooden instrument? I'd been assuming the magical nature of the forge would stop it just turning into firewood, but you might have a different opinion... :?

The guitar would classify as a large fine weapon- With the backswing and triple threat moves. The dials are mostly intended to be cosmetics, but assuming that having to play a specific style of instrument is ever required, or you need to be loud enough to actually gather attention, then it might actually not be..?

Anyways, yeah, you can definitely use your current guitar in the forge without needing to worry about it breaking. It's magic, don't worry about it. Whether an already badass guitar that can serve as a weapon would have the same effects when thrown in compared to a regular guitar, though, is a completely different matter... :P
