Haley

Haley starts trailing the wires, keeping a rather decent hold on them, until they eventually lead her straight to one of it's ends... A lever there. Her tech edu says there doesn't seem to be anything fishy about them, though... She can't help but shake the feeling that something is off...

Koa, Izzy, Alex, Irene

The group continues further southwards, travelling another good ten minutes downstream... Not seeming to make any noticeable difference, to be fair, on the relatively small stretch of land they're covering, forests still far away... At least, until the sound of water becomes far more intense, the reason why soon obvious: a small little cliff up ahead causing a rushing of water, in what doesn't make for a waterfall, but would make for a perfect challenge for a rafting adrenaline junkie... At the bottom of the several foot steep slope, a minor "plunge pool" is formed. Not a lake by any means, but at least something...

The cliff does mean a small obstacle for the trainers to overcome, if not a too hard one- The greatest danger seems to be in that some of the rocks might be wet and slippery... At the bottom a bunch of palpitoad have made their home, which Koa realizes SHOULD mean that a greninja, or something along those lines could also make their homes here... Of course, if he just puts his bait down, those guys would just go for it immediately before it could attract anything else... Also interestingly enough seems to be that in the stiller, or at least less turbulent water of this "plunge pool", a ludicolo has settled- Along some smaller ones of it's kin, such as Lombre and Lotad. Izzy meanwhile, has also been keeping out an eye on further distances and the skyline... Seeing that some staravia have landed in some of the nearby grasslands, likely hunting out some food... Which happened to have been close to a well-hidden scyther..! It doesn't seem like the Staravia are interested in another predator, though, just as much as the scyther has no interest in them... Unless they're going after a common prey..?

Bruce, Drake

The party investigates the almost invisible eyes from a distance, it quite obvious that they must be ghosts of some kind... Both of the trainers ghost pokemon going invisible to investigate, as Drake manages to gaze through their disguise at least long enough to figure out what kind of pokemon they are- There seem to be about two misdreavus, joined by two duskull and one dusclops... As well as the apparent party leader, a mismagius, which... Retreats? Turning fully invisible, Drake only gets a glance at it before it retreats further into the tunnels, the other ghosts spreading out among the tunnel...

Deciding that this is probably one of the better places he might find a sneaky ninja frog without going too far out of his way, Koa will set to making his special Bait! He decides against making bait that might Poison whatever eats it, just in case he attracts something that isn't what he's looking for.

Koa uses 1 Honey and $50 in food scrap to make Super Bait! He uses Rank 1 of the Book - Specialized Cooking to make it specifically for Herbivores (Frog-like pokemon)*

"I'm gonna stay here and try to get this one frog pokemon," Koa says, letting the others know what he's up to. "It's not those ones down there - it's called a Greninja. Could be one hiding nearby, yeah? You guys don't gotta wait on me if you don't want, I should be fine on my own."

With that said, Koa looks for a high-up place to set the specialized bait, somewhere the toads below sharing a similar diet can't get to. Of course, Koa has to get there himself, first!
Athletics to reach high place to place bait: 4d6+2 = [6, 5, 3, 2] = 18
(I'll boost that to 20)

Before setting his bait, Koa will release Kinhe the Nihilego, instructing her to place some Toxic Spikes down below to deter the toads from getting too close (or he'll ask Irene to have Ochrana do the same with non-toxic spikes, either or).

Koa sets his bait after that, some honeyed greens that a frog might like, and then he finds somewhere nearby to hunker down with Kinhe to wait. They're both completely silent (Koa has Stealth and Kinhe has Dead Silent), so hopefully they don't draw any attention to themselves.

Super Bait to try for Greninja: 1d20+5 = [6] = 11
Super Bait to try for Greninja 2: 1d20+5 = [16] = 21

"Ah crap," says Bjorn. Knowing he is one idol short, and knowing where the last one is, he makes the call to see if he can backtrack to the ventilation ducts for another search for the secret passage. If he comes across the ominous prescence or the clanky thing at any point, he turns around and heads back to the exit.

"Any of you guys interested in a Scyther?"

As Koa starts setting up his bait, Izzy takes more of an interest in those birds. And their prey. Getting some more height with Kay, the pair of them try to spot whatever the wild Pokemon are hunting...

Bruce motions for Shadow to come back to him. He mutters to himself as Shadow is coming back. Supposed to be one of the most common, annoying pokemon, but not one bat. Instead we get the friggin' ghost crew.

So, what do we want to do? Anybody want a ghost? Or should we try to avoid them?

Haley

Haley pulls the lever, without a care in the world... And turns around, trailing all the way back to the door to follow the other route, but... Finds the door already unlocked! Seems only one of the levers needed to be pulled, though nothing's stopping her from checking out where the other wires lead...

Well... Besides the fact there was now a slow, sobbing sound coming from that general direction...

Koa, Alex

Alex gives one look down at the mild incline that leads to the lower levels... And immediately imagines him slipping in just the right way to hit every single rock on the way downwards, then plunge in the water and drown. He promptly decides to stay "up top" with Koa , after he announces his intent to try and bait out a pokemon... Noticing a boulder stick up a couple meters in the air not too far off, he takes that as his target- Cooking up a veggie dish and, after a climb, setting it on top... Before having Kinhe surround the rock in poisonous spikes, just further trying to dissuade any pokemon from actually grabbing the snack. At least, unless they're mobile enough to reach it without getting hurt...

Following that, he retreats a safe distance, hunkering down in silence, waiting... Dead silent along his pokemon. And joined by the trusty sidekick, Alex, who serves the function of a one-man Mariachi band to keep up morale, of course.

Luckily, it turns out that the interest of the two local pokemon groups is not nearly as present as first expected, because while they definitely noticed it, they, well, also saw Koa put it up there... Which naturally made them a lot more suspicious. Even then the Ludicolo seems to be bold enough to try and stride up, before seeing the poison spikes... And, reluctantly, waddles back towards the water.

At which point, it's just waiting... Half a hour passes, perhaps because Alex accidentally tripped once and made some noise, the only action for a while that one Ludicolo that decided it wasn't worth it... Until there is a sudden burst of action..! A blue line dashing from between some rocks, straight up to the boulder, leaping on top of it in one swell swoop and devouring the bait... Allowing Koa to see, for a moment, the subject of his search..! Although it's looking like it's going to try and make an escape just as quick- It must have staked out those spikes before doing this sudden rush in, and decided it's too suspect to stick around for long..!
► Show Spoiler
Izzy, Irene

Izzy meanwhile, tries to approach the battle scene to get a better look at the victim pokemon, but... Can't quite get a good look into the tall grass, even from this height. Irene meanwhile follows from down the ground, as they simply watch the game the birds are playing... As their descent seems to suddenly slow, rising back up, and it's not because of the Scyther that is simply stalking in the grass nearby... Something apparently complicating things, the birds rearing back up and for a moment seeming as if they're debating among each other to leave for other prey... Eventually, though, taking turns, they seem to be divebombing in, before pulling back up- Trying to bait something out..? The scyther too, seems to be waiting for now, likely just waiting for an opportune moment of some sort...

Drake, Bruce

Drake announces his intentions, the light sound of chuckling meanwhile filling the cave as the invisible ghosts approach... Their intentions for now, uncertain...

(Roll perception and intuition if Bjorn is going to try this...)

~Now, Kinhe! Like I told you!~

Without an (audible) word, Koa and Kinhe dash out from their hiding spot!

Kinhe goes first, waving her tentacles towards the Greninja, causing the air to visibly warp around its head briefly as she uses her Memory Wipe Ability! Instantly the frog feels discombobulated. It has trouble remembering how to move properly, having just been Flinched and Paralyzed!

Koa's next as he rushes forward, taking one of his Weighted Nets and hurling it up towards the Greninja!
Weighted Net on Greninja w/ Specialized Cooking bonus - AC 8: 1d20+1 = [7] = 8
(Since Kinhe Flinched it that means it's Vulnerable, so that's just enough to hit!)

"I'm guessing you still need it weakened when it's like that? Go ahead, Roy. Force Palm."

Roy Force Palm: 1D20+2-2 = [18]+2-2 = 18
2D8+10+26+10 = [7, 5]+10+26+10 = 58

Oh, shit, uh... Can I change that to, like, Ice Punch or Fire Punch? I forgot Roy is so freaking powerful, and a super effective move seems kind of bad right now.

Drake is relieved he Bruce isn't angry at him since he would most likely shit himself. A common move for all life to make escape easier, unless you are wearing pants..

He'll change his gem to spc def, in case the ghosts target him. Ghos will add his +4 initiative from his training and move to an unknown location getting ready to shadowball the first ghost that becomes visible and isn't a haunter. He got +5 additional damage from his ghost plate.

I can't roll though.

Haley

Haley, knowing all horror tropes, decides to check out the sound of the crying, figuring nothing could possibly go wrong.

Things absolutely go wrong.

As she approaches the source, she tries to speak to it with her kindest words and an offer to help... But truthfully, even the voice of an angel was likely to fall upon deaf ears. Coming around the corner, the flashlight illuminates a tall, imposing figure... A woman, of some kind, at least... She'd have to guess so, at least, by the dress. The blackened, ragged, broken dress... Of a figure that stood well over two meters tall.

As, not long after her torch falls upon it... It let's out a horrifying shriek- It's head twisting to stare at Haley, hollow eyes and pale, sickly skin staring at her...

As the world turns dark.

(Give me a couple d20 rolls...)

Koa, Alex

The Greninja, indeed wasting it's turn quickly gobbling up the snack, is quickly accosted..! Kinhe and Koa jump out of hiding, Kinhe flinging a small amount of poison at the frog that seems to have immediate, disorienting effects... Allowing Koa to throw up one of his nets, completely tangling it up!

It's at that point Alex considers having Roy knock it out with a single punch, though luckily, finds it impossible, the frog pokemon out of reach on top of the boulder...

Kinhe(20)
Koa(11)
Alex(7)
Greninja(7/20) paralyzed, flinched, netted 150/150
Roy(4)

Bruce, Drake

Shadow starts off, blasting one of the duskull unconscious..! Something they were, apparently, not expecting given their startled demeanor..! The Misdreavus halt their forward movement, instead now beginning to move backwards... But do become visible long enough to shoot up a series of confuse rays, hitting both Shadow and Bruce..! Ghos then immediately tries to abuse them coming out of invisibility to shoot a shadow ball, but misses...

Jeremy takes this chance to send out his sneasel, Frost- Who immediately unleashes a feint attack on one of the misdreavus, almost knocking it out!

Isabella meanwhile, sends out Max... Who bites down on the other one, and DOES knock it out..! It apparently scares the one Duskull enough that it, too, begins to back off, tossing a disable in Max's direction...

This leaves Bruce to terrorize the closest ghost, the dusclops- Who would likely shit his pants if it had bowel movements, and hits Bruce with a shadow sneak for 27(14) damage in retaliation.

Shadow(21)
Ghos(19/15)
Drake(15)
2 misdreavus(15) #1 badly injured #2 KO

dusclops(0) terrorized
► Show Spoiler
Bjorn

Bjorn continues back through the hallways, keeping a good eye out for the sound of moaning, whimpering... And making a good note to avoid it- Eventually making it back to the rough area of the vent, but... Still not having much success trying to find that damned secret room..!

(Would Bjorn have any input as to how to search..? In either case, give me a couple perception/intuition rolls...)

Izzy, Irene

With no further info, the two trainers just decide to wait and watch the elaborate dance of cat and mice... For a moment, Izzy almost observes the scyther getting impatient to the point of rushing in... Though before that happens, action breaks out- As one of the birds skates just a bit too close to the ground, and what was down there had apparently had had enough of their aggressive gestures... A large bug suddenly zipping upwards towards the Staravia, blasting it with electricity..! Poor bird almost ends up roasted, the vikavolt angrily buzzing in the air, as finally the battle starts off... Most of the staravia now beginning to dive to the ground beyond the protective bug, just a couple more focusing on it to keep it distracted- The scyther, too, taking his chance to rush in..!

Scyther(18)
5 staravia(15) #1 badly injured
5 staravia(13)

Great! Now that the Greninja's not going anywhere, it's time to do the capturing!

Koa considers having Kinhe use her new Dazzling Gleam, but instead he opts her to pelt it with a less-risky Power Gem. The ethereal stones Kinhe summons still hurt quite a bit!
Power Gem on flinched Greninja - AC 2: 1d20 = [12] = 12
3d8+10+26 = [6, 6, 2] = 50

Koa hesitates before trying to throw a pokeball, though. "Hey Alex, can ya have one of your guys hold it in place? Wanna make sure I land this!"

Waiting until Alex and his pokemon act, Koa then goes for the capture! The excitement gets to him, though, so his aim's a little shaky. But will it still be enough??
Basic Ball on Greninja: 1d20+1 = [3] = 4
1d100-13-20 = [66] = 33

(If Alex can get a Grapple or otherwise reduce the Greninja's Evasion to 0, I'll boost the AC on that to 6. Otherwise nah)
(Edit: Koa can also wait to see if it fails its Paralysis check, if Alex can't manage to hold it)

Seeing the flash of electricity, Izzy immediately releases Rhythm next to her. But then she pauses.

Did she want to get involved? And if yes, on which side? The birds and Scyther were definitely the aggressors...but they were only doing what can naturally to them. Where else were they going to get food?

After a few seconds of indecision, she turns to Irene below.

"Hey...I kinda want to help the bugs. Is that a dumb idea?"

"No, it's not dumb. They might be following their instincts, but so are we... plus I might have brashly intervened in the past in a similar situation like this... though one pokeball won't solve the problem this time." Maybe after seeing it so many times Irene mimics Koa's defensive stance as she tells Polaris "All right, time for our first battle, don't get too close, alright?" As she speaks a protective shroud ends up covering their small group as a reflect barrier is put up.

Bjorn knows that the janitor mentioned a secret door/passageway, and he's already tried looking on either sides of the grate that he could see the idol from, so he widens his search, looking for anything out of the ordinary eg loose screws, scrapes in the ground where a door slides, footprints in dust, broken cobwebs etc.

Bjorn Perception and Intuition check #1: Per = 5D6 = [5, 3, 2, 2, 4] = 16
Int = 2D6 = [2, 1] = 3

Bjorn Perception and Intuition check #2: Per = 5D6 = [5, 3, 2, 1, 1] = 12
