Bruce looks annoyed as Magnus doesn't let him study the pokeball. He then listens to Alex and Koa debate on what to do next with Magnus and Mew/Uyum.

Well, this Grimm guy is a ghost, right? Well, as much as I hate to suggest it, have you thought about calling Jack? There are few people in the whole region that are better at putting down ghosts than he is. And if one of you explain the situation, I'm sure this will take priority over whatever he's doing right now.

"Yes, a lovely shocking jump, but maybe we can talk about it later?" Irene also looks towards the South. I think we have a tower to explore, a cherished one of psychics perhaps?

Izzy, Irene

"Nice jump!" Izzy remarks with a big thumbs up, naturally the one person seeing nothing wrong with what had happened. The queen giving a admittedly somewhat half-hearted thumbs up herself, uncertain of how well it would fare over with others. Most junkrats don't seem convinced, but on the other hand.

"Damn... I don't recall you ever doing that before!"

"Yeah- That was AWESOME!"

"...Yeah, right! Got to keep your best tricks hidden for when you really need them, right?"

"Yes, a lovely shocking jump, but maybe we can talk about it later? I think we have a tower to explore, one that might be a hideout of these folks?"

"...Yeah, I should... Go check out what might be happening there. Junkrats, come with me but... I might just have you support the outside, yeah?"

Drake, Bjorn, Bruce, Koa, Haley, Alex

"I don't. I know jack all, in fact. But even though you definitely know more, you don't know everything, and there are times when people who don't know much have the unexpected ideas."

"...At least you admit you know nothing. Perhaps you should act like it a bit more."

"He wants some of the few people who might be able to help him to forget about the entire thing, yeah, that's real smart. Just make people who've shut down however many catastrophes in as many days forget that you need help, sure."

"We don't need the help." Magnus replies coldly, turning away. "We've dealt with our problems alone before. We'll continue to do so."

”Hmmm. If several continents don’t work, then how about in deep space? Or other universes? Have you tried flinging it to the sun? If I knew more about it I can help out better.”

Magnus, for once, seems to actually pause- As if more seriously considering that proposal than what he's heard before.

"...Perhaps another dimension could work. Ultimately however, there'd be no guarantee someone could not bring it back here. As for the sun. That'd work, but not by distance. More as in it'd be very, very hard to get back." he states, thinking it over for a moment longer.

"...There'd still be ways. It would be... Quite secure however, yes."

Attention gone from Magnus for a moment, attention instead turns to the grunt, being grilled for questions.

"You. You said 'our' home."

"Huh..? W-Well, I mean back at the tower. Where we all live, yeah..?" he says, flustered, but not seeming untruthful.

"...Can I talk about that now without you forgetting, with what you just said..?" the grunt asks, eyes looking at Magnus who ignores him. "That almost feels strange... Only ones that carry the mark aren't affected usually."

”Are all the grunts possessed or something?”

"Huh? No, not at all! I mean, I think so, at least."

Talk about the past done, the topic moves on to what one should do next, Koa beginning to share his opinion.

"If that's all he wanted, he could've just asked, yeah? Well if this is his way of asking, it's probably best you don't answer."

"Yes... I do suspect whatever it is he wants, it is not something we'd agree idly by."

"He wants collateral..."

"In fact we gotta provide you guys security after that stunt! At the same time, though, we gotta do something about Grim. It's kind-of our job as League trainers, since he's made himself such a public threat and all."

"Hrm... I already called about backup, but no dice. Everyone's handling the other attacks. So we might just have to escort you guys for a while, until this whole thing's resolved or until we can get you better protection. Unless you've got some place that's safe from ghost attacks?"

"Or that old granny with the cleanse tags,"

"...You don't understand."
Magnus grunts, though it is more of a tired one than an angry one. "We don't need protection. The tower is. The moment it's back operational, none will be the wiser."

"...That's just the way it has to be."
Magnus states, seeming somewhat sulken, though determined. Uyum's gaze averts to the ground, though she does not comment on the situation.

"Grim is special. The tower does not affect him. That's the only reason he knows. And if he's threatening us with that knowledge... I'm just going to have to deal with him." Magnus states, already seeming to have made his decision as he turns toward the exit- Just as Uyum speaks up.

"...You should stay here, Magnus. Keep the ball safe. I'll deal with it."

"You can't go. Not after he tried to get you there by force." the man states, pausing and turning around.

"Maybe it's YOU he wants, Magnus- Did you not consider that once I was there, you'd follow, and you'd do whatever he asks..?"

There's a grumble of what might be reluctant approval, the two figures seeming to both fall silent...

"What's this about a tower? It... makes you forget stuff?" Koa asks, scratching his head unknowingly with the same hand that says as much. "Garnet said something about that, but we were talking about the staff at the time. I dunno what tower you're talking about... unless you mean the hotel? That's where Grim's at, isn't it?"

As the nurse and headmaster seem conflicted on what to do, Koa steps in again.

"In any case, we're gonna escort you guys outta here. From there I figure we got two options. Either we find Jack and put you under his protection. Bruce is right - he's the only other guy I'd trust to keep ya safe. Or you guys go in with the team tackling the hotel, which'd be dumb considering how much Grim wants you guys. And it'd be really really irresponsible to let a couple of civilians join in like that, but... I don't think I could stop you if ya really wanted to," Koa admits, glancing far up at the towering Magnus.

"Well, at least you're less of an ass than Xerneas, if no less stubborn. But I see that you're determined to keep your problems, so fine."

Frowning as he follows along with the conversation - not really trusting the grunt - "Well, since Grim is apparently the ghost king from another dimension, it's not all that strange for whatever does the memory thing to not work on him. He's basically a demigod. But since we're on the topic, isn't it a pretty easy solution? We were planning to head for these guys' base anyway - some hotel - and if that's really where they were planning to have Uyum take take them then that's where Grim is. So, since we're going there regardless and it's too dangerous for either of you to go - Because he probably has plans for either of you arriving - just leave it to us. Problem solved."

Drake, Bjorn, Bruce, Koa, Haley, Alex

”....Do we have to forget? It would be a bit counterproductive wouldn’t it?"

"Yes, you do. And no, it would not."

"Also what if another pokemon with thief comes back into here and steals the ball? From what it seems is that you have no way to preventing it from happening."

"...This is getting tiresome." Magnus responds, apparently not wanting to answer questions he already considers answered. Uyum sighs, giving a somewhat more compassionate look as she responds in his stead. "It is not an ultimate solution, but nothing is. The best we can do is keep it close. Then even if someone DOES get their hands on it..."

"It wouldn't be for long."

"What's this about a tower? It... makes you forget stuff?"

"Garnet said something about that, but we were talking about the staff at the time. I dunno what tower you're talking about... unless you mean the hotel? That's where Grim's at, isn't it?"

"Cerebrum tower. You know it already. At least, you will for a little bit."

"Err, yeah. It's the hotel. You don't really realize something's up with it unless you really look at it, and then you just forget when you look away. Usually..."

"Well, at least you're less of an ass than Xerneas, if no less stubborn. But I see that you're determined to keep your problems, so fine."

The old man gives a curious glance at Alex for just a moment as he seems to regale about Xerneas- But, ultimately, decides the best course of action to the statement, is to not even respond to it.

I don't think I could stop you if ya really wanted to,"

"Escort us out? And where would we go, then?"

"...At least one of us needs to stay. Make sure all the students are safe. There are little other places nearby that I can think off that would do a better job of protecting."

"Yes... And I think you are quite understating facts calling us civilians, aren't you..?" Magnus states, not directly responding to the statement about whether or not he could be stopped. He let his still slightly upset wide stature, that towered at least two heads over any of the trainers speak for itself.

"And what if he wants both of you? We can’t risk either of you going. Give us your contact information and we can keep you up to date as to what is going on.”

Well, since Grim is apparently the ghost king from another dimension, it's not all that strange for whatever does the memory thing to not work on him.

"...Just leave it to you?" Magnus asks, seemingly incredulously, shaking his head softly.

"Are you truly this foolish? Because you've all been stumbling through by sheer luck, you think you can keep going and won't face the consequences? Do you not realize how well and truly over your head you are?"

"Not to even begin about collaborating with entities you do not understand, trying to fight these so called Godslayers. Do you want to know what my advice is regarding that little matter?"

"Magnus-"

"Give up."

"...There's no point to that strife. You're only going to end up hurt."

The man paused for a moment, a vague scowl present on his visage, before he speaks up again, getting to the actual subject that was raised.

"You truly think you can deal with Grim by yourselves? Allow me to sketch the vaguest idea of what you'd be going up against. Ghost king... I suppose that is a fitting enough title. He is one of the sleepers chosen patrons, having served it for millenia. For each one thousand years of servitude, he has been granted one wish. And over many millenia, he has been using those wishes to improve himself. Telepathy. Telekinesis. One day he learnt of how the MissingNo held power to take memories, and wished for immunity. It was granted, and hence the tower does not affect him either. This ability has granted him the name of the lorekeeper, for he is the only one that still holds the knowledge that all others may have forgotten."

"And now, he may be turning hollow."

To this, Uyum seems to suddenly blink in surprise. "Do you really think that?"

"...Maybe. Why else would he be doing this? He's old. Too old."

Uyum frowned, seeming perhaps not entirely convinced, but not able to dismiss the claim, either. Seeing the party unkowning what that statement means, she decides to offer a quick explanation.

"A ghost turning hollow is... As you know, ghosts do not age. They are essentially already their own spirits. However, while theoretically ghosts could live forever, in practice it is many times observed that as ghosts grow older, eating negative emotions, they become less and less stable. In extreme cases, some ghosts begin to take a different path, and actively seek to hurt and torment, growing stronger and twisted. It is these kinds of ghosts you are likely most familiar with from all those horror movies these days."

"If Grim is actually turning, that makes the situation... Extremely dangerous."

Haley looks at Magnus somewhat bored at his explanation. "Eh. So what? It's not something I haven't seen before. Those abilities don't sound too bad, telepathy isn't the best to deal with but I mean...I've seen a thing that can literally rip through reality like butter that is currently trying to convert the world to it's own, and I know they dealt with more. In comparison this ghost seems very minor."

"Last time we met him, he said something about being locked out of the spirit world," Koa muses, remembering their first encounter. "If he's going senile or whatever, maybe that's why he's doing this? Like he's desperate to leave before he does any serious damage."

"But if he's that old and knows that much, then I don't think there's anywhere we could hide you for long.... Maybe it's best you stay here after all. You're still gonna need protection, though. Those guys broke in here way too easy, and that's without ghosts popping through the walls." Koa looks to Bjorn. "You said something about a granny with cleanse tags? Do ya think there's a way we could get a hold of her? If we set up a protection detail, with some tags set up, it should give us enough time to handle the hotel situation, yeah?"

And... well, up until now Koa's been trying to be accommodating to Magnus. He's way older than Koa can even imagine, after all, so he probably knows what's what. But there's one comment that Koa just can't ignore.

"...Give up? You're telling us to give up?"

"I dunno who you really are, but you're hanging out with Mew so you must be pretty high up there, yeah, with only a few of you that are tougher? And you're saying we should just give up? Then who's gonna stop all the crap coming at us?!"

"Grim's looking to sacrifice people for some greater good or whatever. The Godslayers are trying to kill you guys and grab up those cube things for whatever reason. Speaking of them, something probably hitched a ride with Prometheus out of Babylon - something on the Spark's level, apparently, maybe worse! The Overseer's already invading, so it's gonna take over eventually! The Red Chain's still broken, and the universe is coming apart at the seams! Did I miss anything?!" Koa spouts incredulously, his major info-bombs probably being lost on most present.

"And you want us to... give up?"

He jabs a finger defiantly up at Magnus. "No way. You can forget it! So we're in over our heads, so what? Is there anyone who wouldn't be? But if we're in over our heads... then we just gotta pull ourselves up 'til we can handle it, yeah?"

Alex claps a hand on Koa's shoulder as his tirade comes to an end, shaking his head slightly, "Don't bother. It won't help. I know his type all too well. Once a person has truly given up like him, they decide nothing will work. They start avoiding any attempts, saying that it will just end poorly. That it will fail or have consequences. Once someone reaches that stage, there's no reason talking to them; they're already just a useless husk. Ignore the old man, and focus on what we're going to do. Because while he's right that we're in over our heads, none of us are stupid enough to agree that it's worth giving up. Not when the alternative is leaving everything to a failure like him."

"Alright folks, time to start planning. We've all run across the thing that's killed most of the Spark's companions, and I'm guessing this Sleeper was one of them. That means we've encountered the thing that killed Grimm's source of power in the first place, and we all came out of it alive; he can't be any stronger than the Sleeper, so there's that. Worst comes, we evacuate except for one of us who knows the name of that worldeater, who calls it out; it'll destroy Grimm for us. Unfortunately, along with everything else nearby, so we'd better try to get him out of the city. One person for a powerful ghost king is a rough exchange, but it's the last resort."
Pausing for a moment after laying out an idea for the worst-case scenario, the young man shrugs, "Alternately, we just beat the shit out of him. Maybe some of you are concerned after the old man said Grim is so powerful, but I have my doubts. After all, the old coward would have flat out failed to protect his beloved friend from some humans and ghosts, so we know how his views of danger are."

Yes, Alex is knowingly provoking Magnus, but also he's serious; if the trainers hadn't been there Magnus would have still been sitting with the students when the commander grabbed Mew's ball. And then they would have all been teleported away before he could do anything. He's legitimately disgusted by how pathetic the old man is, knowing that he's probably another legendary.

”Grimm is a wild pokemon isn’t he? I have some great balls I made earlier, along with a couple of dusk balls. We need to expose Grim and use status effects against him so it would be harder for escape. Any pokemon that use those will be effective. Don’t bother using trapping moves though.

Hmm, I agree that we can use that name if needed, though it may also destroy the tower, or at least parts of it. Unfortunally I doubt we can get him outside of the tower where he has power to control what to erase.”

(also we should be using the suits but not sure if Haley knows that they help prevent telepathy and can help disguise mons)

Bruce is looking more and more confused as Koa keeps speaking. Deciding to file that whole list away to further discuss later, he moves on. I agree with Rocky, here. I'm... definitely in over my head, but that's no reason to give up. I've been in over my head ever since I've got Tops here. But if it's something you want bad enough, it's worth it. And I want to keep Tops safe, and it sounds like these guys want to save the world or something. And if that's not worth the risk, I don't know what is.

"I don't know how to contact her, but the League must. When Grim last showed up and wreaked havoc at that Trainer Event, they had this woman cleansing the lower levels and leaving tags everywhere." He digs in his bag and pulls out some cleanse tags he kept from that occasion, showing them to Koa.

"The fact that they hired her or contacted her or whatever suggests she is probably some local expert regarding ghosts." He shrugs. "Or maybe she's just a nutter they tolerated."

Izzy, Irene

As Izzy alerts the others of what happened, she keeps an eye out for anything suspect- But for now at least, it appears things are safe. Irene takes the time to try and do something more daring- Finding a somewhat reasonable moment to address the queen in private.

"Pardon my bluntness, but it is an emergency. But are you... A legendary figure I suppose is the right way to phrase it."

The queen gives a momentary glance at Irene, seeming to be thinking... Then shakes her head.

"No idea what you're talking about! You and your friend got your own powers you got your own reasons to keep safe, no?"

Drake, Bjorn, Bruce, Koa, Haley, Alex

"Eh.

Magnus offers Haley a cold, but introspective look. In the end, it seems he decides it's not worth responding- At least not audibly, only slightly shaking his head.

"Last time we met him, he said something about being locked out of the spirit world. If he's going senile or whatever, maybe that's why he's doing this? Like he's desperate to leave before he does any serious damage."

"Maybe. I'd be surprised if Grim of all potential people, couldn't think of a way to resolve that issue without problems. But, well, if we're dealing with him slowly turning, we may not be dealing with his usual logical self."

"Doesn't explain why he wants us, or is even bothering with the tower." Magnus quickly chimes in, as the conversation moves on, briefly discussing as to how they could keep the academy defended. The final suggestion seeming to be that, perhaps with the exception of Jack, there doesn't seem to be any real option.

"I can take care of myself, you know."

"Hmm." Magnus silently agrees, walking over to an empty part of the grounds, placing the ball on the ground... In a moment, the earth looks as if it suddenly lunges upward, like a gaping maw, before pushing through further- A globe of compacted rock raised from the ground, held aloft by four spikes- Just in case someone might try and tunnel through the ground.

"Someone even get close to it, you know what to do."

"Yes... If you're worried, I suppose I could make sure Jack and his own people get over here after they've dealt with the other happenings."

With that however, comes Magnus' outburst about how the trainers would be better up to give up- And Koa shows he does not like that one bit.

Did I miss anything?!"

Magnus listens silently, a deep frown on his face that only sinks deeper as Koa continues- Before Alex suddenly starts up as well. Magnus eyes seem to slowly widen as he begins talking.

"Don't bother. It won't help. I know his type all too well. Once a person has truly given up like him, they decide nothing will work. They start avoiding any attempts, saying that it will just end poorly. That it will fail or have consequences. Once someone reaches that stage, there's no reason talking to them; they're already just a useless hu-"

Alex's speech comes to a sudden end as he collapses to the ground, the source not taking too long to figure out, as Mew seems to be glaring in his direction from behind. Luckily for him, it only appears to be sleep, though he doesn't wake up again straight away. Mew's gaze immediately soften as she looks up at Magnus, who for a moment now had appeared sunken... Before beginning to chuckle. Not a happy one- But a deep, almost ominous one.

"A bit unnecessary, don't you think Uyum? Especially if he's right."

"Magnus, don't say that..."

"Oh, but no, he is. I'm useless. I can't do anything anymore. After all-" he spoke, turning back to Koa.

"You're right. All those issues- And I've not the faintest idea how to begin fixing any of them. And even if I did?"

"...I can't do it anymore. You know what happens when you fix a problem? Just another one shows up. A couple days, a year, if you're lucky a decade- Someone else, somewhere else, fucks up things all over again."

"I can't fix everyone else's messes anymore."

A brief silence falls, before Koa makes a final statement.

"No way. You can forget it! So we're in over our heads, so what? Is there anyone who wouldn't be? But if we're in over our heads... then we just gotta pull ourselves up 'til we can handle it, yeah?"

"...Fine."

"It's a dangerous road you're taking. But it seems we can't persuade you off it, so all we can do is wish you luck." Uyum briefly stated, before her voice continued- Though it was obvious by the fact her lips were not moving, that this psychic message was meant for just Koa.

~I would like to talk about these things you mentioned. Later.~

Her voice returns to regular, as she continues. "If you insist on heading out, let me help as I can before you go. I've enough power left to provide healing for 6 people."

"I can heal twice more, but only so much. I'm not sure if it'd be worth it to try and save it for while we're in battle?" Luna takes a moment to chime in herself, as she had stepped closer, seeming... Intimidated, somewhat, but intently stepping forward toward Magnus, before finally speaking up.

"Are you..?"

"...What you did wasn't right, Luna." Magnus states plainly, though with no malice. His response seemed to confirm whatever she was thinking. "But I am not the one who should be holding a grudge."

Haley runs over to wake up Alex, before looking at Mew. ”So them all tryin’ to steal y'all ball was okay n ya didn't do nothin' but stand thar when they stole it out of Magnus’s hands but if my friend says tha truth ya put ‘em ta sleep?”

She looks at Magnus ”Ya got ya priorties all twist’d. Y’all need ta invest in more security.” Haley sends out Rhemilarity. ”Rhemilarity, protect the object with'n, do not allow anybody but these two hold it, protect it as if y'alls life depends on it 'cause it very well could. Do whatever you can ta prevent threats from gainin' the object.”

Koa winces as Alex goes down sleeping, but he can't say he didn't see something like this coming. The guy had been doing nothing but antagonizing the headmaster ever since the battle ended, even if Magnus admitted truth in the accusations.

Koa starts a bit when Uyum touches his mind with a message. His brow furrows in thought. ~Okay. We can talk about your daughter too? You can guess which one, yeah?~ He thinks back, glancing between the crystal sword on his hip and the nurse.

Regarding Magnus, Koa crosses his arms and considers the old demigod's words. Were all the god-pokemon like this, Koa wondered? Had all of them, or at least most of them, given up? Despite all the crazy stuff going down, he hadn't heard anything about any of the god-pokemon doing anything about it. Were they all separated, hiding, and ignoring it all, just letting it all happen?

What of Diancie, though? Why had she chosen to act when Magnus and Mew were content to while their days away waiting for the world to come to its end? But then, she hadn't been spurred to action until Koa and the others sought her help. Maybe it was the the trainers' determination to fight against the Godslayers that gave her the strength to join in?

"...You keep saying 'I can't do this' and 'I can't fix that.' Have you been doing things all by yourself, all these years? Well it's no wonder you've given up! Nobody could handle stuff this big by themselves! Anyone'd get tired just thinking about it, yeah?"

"But that's why ya don't just do everything by yourself. You work together, yeah? I mean, you guys are god-pokemon, but these Red Hand guys almost got the best of you by working together. They didn't, though, 'cause you had us to help you out! And that's all it is, when ya think about it. Prometheus wouldn't be nearly so bad without his Godslayers. And if ya really think about it, not even those Missingno. guys could've gotten where they are now without anyone's help."

"I know it sounds cliche or whatever. But if we worked together, us and you god-pokemon, and we start tackling these big problems one thing at a time? Well... we might just stand a chance, yeah? Maybe we could save the world while we're at it!"

"Think about it, yeah? Now we got a raid to plan on that tower," Koa says, half turning away towards the other trainers. "I dunno if you wanna stay here or not, but you know more about that place than most everyone here. We could use your help if you wanted to tag along."

As the group makes their way towards the Hotel, Izzy jumps on Kay and darts off at full speed towards the Pokemon Center. She also applies some Potions to their wounds as they go.

When they arrive at the Center, she jumps off and makes a beeline for the computer, swapping out Maku for Rhythm. Her hand pauses on Dread's ball, considering leaving him in the system and taking someone less...murdery. In the end though, she doesn't.

They then reunite with the group, using Izzy's Bug senses to zone in on Irene. Hopefully before they make it to the Hotel.

EDIT: If Luna is coming to the Tower/Hotel, then ignore all this.

Bjorn hops off Tank (recalling Sneak) and walks over to take Luna's hand, standing with her in solidarity. He flicks her a brief confused look, before continuing to scowl at Magnus.

"No idea what you're talking about! You and your friend got your own powers you got your own reasons to keep safe, no?"
All right then... maybe there's just been to many coincidences lately. I'm starting to think random people I meet are actually avatars of legends Irene says shaking her head, already out of breath to properly laugh at your self. Shaking her bag she wakes Ochrana up. "Hey you can carry yourself, I'm already tired and your 7 pounds aren't helping... Don't jangle at me, you're the one always sleeping after eating."
