Civ 6 OOC: Return To Port Aug 31

Post by Aegis J Hyena » Sun Jun 29, 2014 9:22 am

Civilization 6: Myths and Legends starts July 7.

So here's the OOC thread for whatever shit goes down.

You didn't make my job easy. I was expecting three to five races and not Monster Zoo. Oh well, more storylines for me to write.

Might get rid of the idea of Heralds because we never did get a new influx of people, really. One less thing for me to worry about in this mess, but I won't decide on that until we kick things off.

I'm so far out of my element here I'm in orbit around some random planet in the Orion system, so this'll be a nice attempt to expand my storytelling abilities.

Originally it was going to be called The Plaid Distortion --- I was going to have Misery (out of Cave Story) as a Succubus, tormenting an ancient undead hero that can't die until she's put down.

The fact you chose a water-based game threw that to the bottom of the sea, but I have some backup ideas along with winging it.

Well, that is, unless, our Deviant Deity didn't decide he disliked water and turn all our oceans into Jell-O. I mean, for all we know our god is Halaster Blackcloak.

Halaster... nah. Though the Dungeon Maze tweak might as well be that big, if it's Undermountain you're thinking of (it won't be :P ). Oh gods, do I remember those huge poster maps...

If I wanted to turn your oceans into something, I'd at least make it interesting. Squirrel piss, maybe? Or flat Mountain Dew... oh, wait, I got it! Eyeball fluid!

No, I just mentioned Halaster as an indication that we really don't know how crazy our god is, so we can't come to the conclusion that we're a water-based society.

I'm against racial divided ships. We are tolerant Lawfull Evil pirates after all. We have ogre sailors for all ships ^^.
I dare you to make the first move in racism. He who throws the first stone should expect boulders coming back.

Ha! I think I'll take you up on that dare! I deny rights to have eggs in more than one ship at a time, and I claim that only those that lay eggs should guard them. Can't trust those that don't lay eggs not to eat them.

Okay, I really need to ask this; How are we lawful? We're pirates, attacking and raiding merchants will be a thing we do, and that's hardly lawful. Unless we're actually working for some big government attacking specific groups, but I don't think that's a thing we're doing.

Also; Driders would probably do well working in the rigging. Moving about to ensure nothing snags and stuff. I think it's obvious I don't know all that much about ships. :P

Also Player / Monster stats, skill lists.

My characters:
Tugs Tails, the goblin that was sort of a trapper and wears a bear's tail at his neck, for some reason - Lair of the Mountain King (Run by Thinks)
Alex Sparo, A city boy, poor of sight, who has learned to manipulate people and make the most of what he, and others, have - Trinity Isles (Run by Mort)
Mehriv Turajin, a Noble Dragonborn Sorcerer sent from his clan because he wasn't dragony enough. - The Wandering Archipelago (Run by Thinks)

We're not Lawful or Evil. We just tend in those directions from racial make-up. We're True Neutral except for those tendencies. Besides, pirates can be very Lawful, but that more focuses on the Code of the Sea, rather than any established governments. For example, http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_code.

As a matter of fact we are the goverment. We are about 2000 people and life by our own code.

Why would you lay eggs into a ship if you got a great underground dungeon complex? And them stinking bugs can guard their eggs if they want! May I lay my monster eggs from the breeding grounds into your care too?

Would be reasonable. And we still haven't been introduced to the complex, so we don't know how secure they are just in the complex, which as far as we know is a maze of currents rather than a structure. The hatchery should only be entered by egg-layers, though, as otherwise, we're likely letting the cult kill our babies. Egg-layers include the Skyborne, the Chelydrians, the Formians, maybe a few others, which shouldn't be uneasy with each other.

Guys, did you not read that tolerant is likely to 'wear off' after a year and half, tops?

Which is another reason to keep people away from the eggs.

Hmm I did understand it that our rival starts to act after 1.5 years, but the tolerance for other civilisations and ourself is constant.

I'm in for the bugs to care for all our children. Hivemind prevents cults and infiltration.

No, it doesn't. I remember addressing that issue.

"Tolerant Monster Zoo is a nifty idea, though hivemind might complicate matters just a bit. I hadn't thought of it."

If it simply prevented cults and infiltration, he wouldn't have made this statement.

If thatbis the case we need guards from every race (or steampunk-clanks).
But we have 2.3 years to prepare for the first brood (or was Aegis average of maturing and breeding speed just for statistics)

Still i think putting the Formidian-Queen on top of the eggs discurages a lot of would be thiefs.

Not for the eggs. Eggs can generally safely be left to the egg-layers, which are mostly Neutal to one another, though the Animal egg-layers don't exactly like the Formicids, who are Neutral to them. Not all of us lay eggs, and those that don't may keep their children away from the eggs. And any creature not an egg-layer, therefore, has no real business in the hatchery.

Honestly, I think that as soon as we move in to our new home we do at minimum these two things first.

Assuming Aegis hasn't taken care of this for us already.
1. We set up separate areas (rooms/wings/corridors/Floors) for each race to take up as their own.
2. We set up a form of government in which each race has a say on a council. (similar to what i tried to set up last game)
a. Halfbreeds would probably have a coucil member from each differing new Halfbred race.

also, in an attempt to move the conversation here.

I think driders should be quarantined on their own boat by themselves..

My question is how do we 'manage' the fleet and fleet resources...
Do we elect (as the Greeks Did) Achrons, one to rule the city, one to be the judge, one to rule the fleet

Or do we let each captain be completely independent without any oversight whatsoever?
