Darfel's hand shoots up at the prospect of doing something other than talk at an egg in weird languages. He eyes the others.

" Lets just poke a hole in it and peek inside, We don't need to smash it off the bat."

Cranberry borrows a dagger from someone and makes a small hole and peers inside.

Cranberry starts stabbing the egg, at first careful but he becomes increasingly violent in his stabbing as the egg just wobbles back and forth as the only effect of the stab. Not even a small scratch or dent have appeared in the egg. He steps aside to give room to Darfel that succumbed to Jasper egging him on to smash the egg and possibly killing Ala, which is rather minor in Jaspers opinion since they can just ressurect her again. Darfel gives it a couple good swings, before he too realises that the shell might be too hard and durable to really damage this way.

"...Cranberry can sit on it. And since I guess it's probably too heavy to haul around properly... We'll make camp here for now. Maybe whoever was here earlier will finally decide to show his face when we refuse to leave."

"We'll need to set guard duty, though... I'll volunteer for last shift- Can use that time to prepare my spellbook again, after all..."

Darfel's brow furrows in thought. "If the red dragon god is messing with her the most because she hates him the most, maybe he turned her into a baby red dragon. Red dragons breathe fire, maybe she needs fire to hatch?"

"Yeah, sure. Just build the campfire around it. Don't come calling if it turns out we boiled Ala alive, though." Jasper says, seemingly quite disgruntled they were actually gonna try the "hatching" method... Which he apparently still found quite stupid, as he seems to be trying to go over the walls again, before eventually ending up near the statue, seemingly inspecting that... It doesn't seem like he's actually expecting to find something, though, more like just trying to keep busy.

Henry sighs because he doesn't have a better idea and starts to collect wood.

You spend several hours trying to gather enough wood to put around the egg. Once that's done Darfel lights the fire with his newfound ability by using his holy symbol as a flamethrower causing the egg and wood to be engulfed in the flames. The fire burns strong, but the egg remains unharmed by the fire.

Outside the light is fading and the night will soon be upon you.

((Awww... I hadn't revealed my new ability yet...))

Once the wood is piled, and someone pulls out some flint and steel, Darfel speaks up "Hold on, I think I got this." He holds up his holy symbol of Tempus, a simple painted wood medallion depicting a silver sword wreathed in flames overlaid on a shield.

"Burn, in the name of Tempus!"

The flames flicker on his holy symbol before erupting in a gout of flame spraying out over the egg and stacked wood for... 2 Fire damage.

"Well shit, that did a whole lot of nothing."

You decide to make a camp and rest for the night while trying to come up with a new plan for prematurely hatching the egg. The night itself is uneventful, but after you've gone through your morning rituals, one of you notice several visible cracks in the egg and a bit of movement indicating that something is about to hatch from the egg.

The fire is already put out, you didn't find enough wood to keep it going over night.

Henry stands close enough by to see and possibly stop Darfel from killing anything that is half-Ala, half something else, or help kill anything that needs killing, but hides in the shadows, just in case.

You stand ready to kill whatever gets out of the egg as it is hatching. The first crack in the egg gets completely broken as a fist breaks through it. It's completely covered in platinum colored scales. Another hand comes bursting forth, grabbing the shell and pulling itself up. A draconic head, likewise covered in platinum scales is the first thing to get out as the humanoid creature stands up, completely covered in a red platemail with the symbol of heironeous. The creature also has a necklace in the form of an oak tree with a lightning bolt. It currently stand there looking at you expectantly.

Darfel rolls his eyes and gestures... there is quite obviously a dragon thing doing just that right before them.

When Jasper addresses Ala, Darfel looks around , thinking he missed her walk in...

"Holy..."

Ala stares at her scaled, taloned hands in fascination, while she clumsily extricates herself from the shell, tripping over her feet just about as much as the egg in the process. It takes her a long time to notice the others are there.

"What happened to you? Did you all shrink? You all look... different." *

When she spots that the others have also been transformed somewhat:

"Huh. I guess I wasn't the only one to receive a gift."

-------------------
* Ala is 6 inches taller and a bunch heavier / stronger / less dextrous than she was before. She also apparently now has low-light & darkvision (according to the Wikia page at least).
