The Rune Goblins - Mission 1

"My fellow clan mates," the clan chief "Leads With Glory" says. "As all of you know, we recently found a new power source, one that shall lead us to, well, glory. But before that, I want us to test this power. A group of brave goblins has volunteered for this mission.

As all of you know, the rats are eating out food and making us sick. So the brave goblins shall use their new powers to fight the rats. If they can find and kill the rat king, I'm sure the rest of the rats will scatter.

So go forth, brave goblins, find and kill the rat king and as much as rats as you can. Use your newly acquired power.

Good Luck."


Main Missions:
Find & kill the rat king. (2 xp)
Kill at least 3 rats (2 xp)

Minor Missions:
Kill as many rats as possible. (+1xp for every 2 extra rats killed)

Secret Missions:
????????????(???)

Losing Situation:
All goblins fall down.

Dee will move forward and try an Aimed Strike on the rat in F5.

Band Aid moves to A6, then E6, converting his normal action into another move action.

Also: are those goals all group goals, or does every goblin individually have to try and kill the rat king & 3 rats?

Turn 1

Death or Glory moves forward to E4.
Dee Sixsneak wants to move forward to hit the rat on F5 but she reach close enough, so instead, she uses aimed strike on the rat in G3, dealing some damage to him.
But luckily, Pew pew shot the art in F5 for her with a magic missile. The small rat died on the spot.
Band Aid runs to E6.

The rats act now...
The smaller rats seems to be running away, some of them are too far to be seen now.

Two of the bigger rats approach Dee Sixsneak, biting her and dealing her 2 damage in total!
Two more move toward Band Aid and bite her as well, dealing her 2 damage.
Another rat moves and bites Death or Glory for 1 damage.

Oh, I mistook myself for the pale purple goblin, oops - that's why I said F5, I thought it was directly in front of me.

Dee attacks the same rat again, with another Aimed Strike.

DoG will use his fireblast ability on F4-F5 and G4-G5.

Please note that the rat in F5 is dead. It might want to make rethink your action, Thinks. (Or not. Just thought it might not be clear.)

If it's confusing, I can remove bodies of dead monsters and players. Tell me what you think.

Ouch. Those rats clearly have better attack values that the average goblin... :paranoia:

@GM, questions about movement: Can we move ONLY in straight lines, or could we move like 2 up + 2 left with our 4 tiles per move action, too?
Also, can we move past team members?
How much range has the heal ability? (I'm assuming I can heal someone adjacent to my character at least.)
Oh, and don't remove dead things, just make it clearer that they are dead, maybe? I dunno, perhaps cross them out or something?

If we can move past team members:
Band Aid moves to E3 and heals the rogue on F3.

If we can't move past team members:
Band Aid moves back up to A6 and heals herself.

Oh. Damn.

Then yeah, marking dead bodies would definitely be helpful! You don't have to remove them if you don't want, but colouring them red or something would be a help :)

Ok, well instead of the fireblast I'll just punch the rat in front of me then.

@ You can use your 4 movement points to move in any direction not including diagonal. So yes, you can choose to move 2 left and than 2 north or anything like that.
And you can move past teammates, but not ending your turn in their space.

Heal should have a range of 3. I will add it to the rules now.

Turn 2

Pew pew moves closer so he can hit some rats, he hits one rat and deals some damage to him.
Dee Sixsneak uses aimed strike again on the same rat. This hit finishes him. He falls down on the ground, dead.
Band Aid runs to help Dee, she gets to her and heals her for 1 hp.
Death or Glory attacks back the rat who attacked her, dealing some damage.

All of the smaller rats has fled the scene...
The rat near Dee tries to avenge his friend (Or just get some food) and attacks her, dealing 1 damage.
The rat near Death or Glory bites her again, dealing 1 damage.
Two of the rats team up to attack Pew pew, dealing him 2 damage in total!

Note that attacking diagonally in melee is impossible.

Okay, I'd like to modify: If Death or Glory manages to kill the rat on F4, Band Aid will try to rest to regain energy.
Else, Band Aid will attack the rat on F4, too, then move to D4.

Is that a conditional I can make? Because if waiting half a turn until DoG is done fighting to see the results of the fight will stop me from resting, then I don't want to put that conditional in there.

In general, making conditions is possible. But the rat is dead anyway.

Erm, I did read the text, but it didn't say anything about the rat in F4 (the one that DoG attacked) being/becoming dead.

Additionally, in the rat's turn the rat on F4 attack DoG again, did it become undead, or how was it able to do that?

Erm, I'm not trying to be snarky here. If I did come across that way, I'm sincerely sorry. I'm just trying to point out that the rat doesn't seem to be dead from what the update wrote.

I don't know how to tell which rats are dead vs those that are alive, but sure, F2 if not G3.
