Could be. But since the whole story was prewritten, it may well be that this is not what's happening, and the story will remain in whatever version it started.
There are many home-brewed rules and adaptations anyway implemented.

I really hope this is not the case. If they use this to restore Chief after him being gone a decade... That would not have the right kind of impact I think.
