Sept 25 2017: SA'BADGUY!

Oh boy. I didn't recognize him until I saw the colored page, but I'm pretty sure that's Junior.

The Kliks will fight him, and everyone in the party understands what he is, but still... They're in deep trouble.

Prepare for Bowst to... Run away? Is that what it means to break? That seems reasonable, actually. But being unreliable seems bad.

Oh, and Thunt says on Twitter that we can expect a new page next week, too.

Well, if you're right, then Bowst won't have to kill Idle today...

What's Junior doing in that glowing hell hole though? Probably slim odds that this is guy just really, really looks exactly like him right?

I could be wrong. It could be a tentacled Hell beast that happens to be green. The angles don't seem as sharp as Junior's. We'll find out next week.

FWIW, my son came to the same conclusion that it was Junior. I hope the Kliks have a bonus against Klikbominations.

This is the last time we saw Junior, right? Color is a little lighter, and he's more humanoid than tentacled. But still... Could be. http://goblinscomic.com/comic/12142012

Even if it looks like Junior, it could always be the just recently corrupted Kilk. Would be a nice way to show what Junior's general strength against some non-level 1 characters are without actually throwing the real Junior at any of our main characters right away. Give him more time to grow.

I saw the page and went "That better not be who I think it is." Scochan has it right though, why would he be in a "hellhole", or was he hiding waiting to ambush? On the other hand why introduce another warped Klik when we already have the one?

I did not think about Junior. Also, Junior tends to kill directly, and slurp the blood. This tentacled beast grappled Idle and pulls her down. Junior did not drag his victims.

Anyway, good to read the comic doing some new pages.

I can't think of a reason why Junior wouldn't have started to suck Idle dry immediately. So I doubt it's him.

While I don't think it looks like Junior, it does call to mind my personal theory that Yvette/Drowbabe is still alive and working with Junior (voluntarily or otherwise).

The green is all wrong to be Junior -- Junior is like an Emerald green, and this new thing is more of a camo green, and y'all know how picky Thunt is with his colors.

And, lordy, do I hope Drowbabe is still out there, somewhere.

You'll recall, Forgath and company are chasing a klik that took a bite out of the Axe of Racism, and has become deformed. Perhaps they've found their prey.

So following up on the delightfully revealing outfit and gratuitious gore, Idle is now mud-wrestling a tentacle monster.

She's quickly growing into one of my favorite characters!

Thunt was talking on stream about how he regrets Idle's costume design and how he was going out of his way to try not to evoke tentacle porn (which wasn't really a meme when this scene was written over a decade ago).

It wasn't a meme a decade ago, but has been a "thing" for as long as I can remember. If he didn't know about tentacle porn a decade ago, he was living as hermit in cave.

It wasn't as much of a concern. And, like I said, he went out of his way to make sure that the things weren't touching Idle in questionable areas.

That's a shame, really. I don't think people should be made to feel embarrassed for dressing like that, nor artists for dressing their characters like that. Sex is fun, and sex appeal is one of the background contributors to what makes a character fun to watch and read about. In a better world, there would be no social pressure to dress your characters in ways that retain plausible deniability about your motivation to have them look sexy.

'Sides, let's not pretend that every other male adventurer in this story isn't a muscular hunk whose essentially bare chest is accentuated with the gladiatorial male equivalent of a chainmail bikini. Impractically sexy adventurers' outfits are part of gamer culture, which is central to what this story's about.

I donÔÇÖt really care about tentacle porn in any shape or form and if he wanted to make tentacle porn itÔÇÖs well within his rights. ItÔÇÖs just not my cup of tea. That said, even though I know the scene is not going to suddenly turn into actual tentacle porn, canÔÇÖt say I donÔÇÖt see the resemblance. It's sort of a pointless discussion anyway.

You see, that's the thing. Every OTHER male adventurer. Versus almost EVERY female char. It's about percentage. It's about how women still get (more or less) subtly "told" (not necessary in words) that it's their god damn duty to be beautiful/attractive/sexy/what have you. Males can come up in most media with LOADS more examples of "unattractive" characters than females. For men it's more "okay" to come in all shapes, sizes and states of fitness, to not conform to those "beauty standards" than for females, at least that's the suggestion. And that that is what is NOT okay.
On average, for every MinMax, males get a Forgarth. What about females? There is one "Young and beautiful" and that's it. Every other female char in this comic I can think of at the moment is hour-glass shaped (to some extent) and more often than not scantily clad. Mind you, I'm not trying to criticize Tarol specifically here, I'm just using goblins as an example, because most readers here will know the characters.

But I'm not going into this further, because it's probably a topic that should be discussed in controversy.

Off topic

Well Raza is our resident.......... non-standard arousal guy.

With his kinks he's of course going to have a controversial view on this strip and related issues.

On topic

No logical story telling brings Junior in at this point. And Thunts a good story teller for the most part.

If that's a Klik it's going to be the one they are hunting. (Still might be something else, but it won't be Junior. That's too confusing to be written that way. They will probably learn something from this encounter they will use against Junior. That's a more likely narrative)

A darker shade of green and less "bladey", not Junior. More of a standard Naughty Tentacle Monster.

Yeah, I hear you on that one. There's a couple of webcomics out there that make a point of addressing body shape- and general attractiveness variety in likeable characters, but they're a rare delicacy. I don't think the Goblins universe males have been doing as bad as you describe; the short, fat drow from the first adventuring party is the only male adventurer I remember that's been decidedly unattractive without being from a race that's intrinsically unattractive to us, such as dwarves, and I don't think NPC's should be counted on the same metric because a different set of tropes applies. Still, I'll concede that Goblins' female characters have been overwhelmingly involved in some degree of sexual or romantic interaction/attraction, compared to even its adventuring male cast. The fact that this is a gaming culture trope in a gaming culture mocking webcomic still justifies this somewhat, but there'd be something to be said for using this and then subverting it, too.

I think ideally, we'd have both a skimpily dressed Idle and a couple of older/bigger/less-endowed/otherwise-non-classically-attractive - but sympathetic - female characters in the cast. Unlike messing with Idle though, that is still very much achievable without retconjuration! *hint hint*

Not to mention that Y&B is a lampshade--she's the one character who's not Y&B, so she makes a point of lying about it...
