And thus without loot, as loot costs money and thus decreases available funds.
Is that legal? Seems deceptive to inflate the progress of your campaign and entice more donations.

I don't see why not - people are free to spend their money on whatever they want even if they're involved in the project.

Legality of the action aside, if thatÔÇÖs the case itÔÇÖs still shady. The ethical thing to do would be to say upfront that X amount was fronted by the content producer.

Anyway thatÔÇÖs all hypothetical, I just find it anomalous that so much money poured in so quickly. A few days ago I wouldÔÇÖve said it was a million to one shot this would fund, now it is looking like a really good probability!

It is not legal, for exactly that reason, and IGG is careful about making sure that doesn't happen.

Just checked again. 92% of the way there. I think a lot of people wait until near the end of a campaign to donate. My fingers are crossed.

I think there's a lot of overlap between the type of people who stay anonymous, the type who contribute a lot, and the type who wait till the last minute; that is to say, they feel some silly sense of shame for this.

92% and one day left, this is insane :-)

Fair enough :) Thanks for clarifying!

IÔÇÖm sure IGG has it in their PnP that you canÔÇÖt make donations to your own campaign then, but I donÔÇÖt see what would stop me from giving any sum I want to a relative (or maybe better, close friend) to donate on my behalf.

Just seems like an easy loophole to get around.

I made a donation to push things along and their Trust department emailed me to make sure that nothing like that was going on. They take this stuff seriously. They have a whole department dedicated to it.

Also, for the record, Thunt and company don't have the money to throw around. They were just talking about that in the FB livestream because someone asked why they don't just fund it themselves. Voice actors are not paid as much as you think (Phil mentioned that the majority of SAG members don't make enough to be able to afford health insurance, which just blew my mind), and webcomic artists aren't exactly rolling in money. They're not in a position to self-fund.

Not to mention that Matt poured his available money into World of Steam. He ran a successful Kickstarter for it, but had some things go wrong later in production. He dug into his savings to push it through. Because he was committed to making it work. But it was really rough for a while. You could see it in the post-campaign updates. He was practically bankrupted. The series has now been picked up by the Jim Henson Company, but it was a hard road getting there. And it's still in development, so I don't think he's nearly made his money back. That comes later, when it finally gets on air.

I'm actually kinda impressed, I didn't think it would get anywhere close to this much,

might even happen.

I wouldn't be surprised if the creators were adding their own money, to make the project look successful and attract more backers, and so they can actually get the money of course.

At this rate, staying up all night has worked against me; this is definitely going to finish while I'm asleep. I bet they're watching me, waiting to pitch the last $4200 when I turn off the computer.

Must be a party going on there.

Edit: I cannot post chat messages there. :(
Warning: I'm looking there at the next update page. (SPOILER!)

Edit: Info: Someone asked, here's the info: Kin's dragon name is Parchment, it's a "he", made of paper.

Gonna stop following the twitch and the like. But I recorded some numbers while I did lsiten to it:
► Show Spoiler
And I'm sure there is a faster way to texture the rocks than the way I saw THunt doing it.... But might need a bit of setting-up...
His choice, I'm still enjoying the comic!
