Great work DoodleMoogle! A lot of variety, and interesting to look at the differences in how detailed or loose you keep a particular drawing.

I've only had time to go through the first page of this thread so far, but wanted to say thanks for all the cool pics! My favorite right now is the snow goblin sketch. I like seeing the stroke-work; it gives it personality to me.
ETA: Finished now. Lot's of great work! E.g. the witch's house is super impressive but also looks super time-consuming. I like how you can capture a character with less detail too.
Thanks a bunch :D
The Witch's house drawing is kind of a mixed bag to me. I spent 90% of the time working on that picture on the lineart. It's a really bad habit of mine. I spend all my energy on the lineart and when it comes time to color the picture I get lazy and make bad choices. My best works are usually either the black and white ones where I concentrate purely on the contrast of black and white, and the colored drawings where
I actually sleep in between the lineart and the coloring part. My personal favorite currently is the Giant picture on the last page. It's a prime example of me actually pacing myself properly while making the piece.

That's another thing about my artstyle. My sketches are really REALLY messy. I usually try to guve them a feeling of motion, but it's still something I'm working on.
That often causes my sketches to become these tangles of motion lines that I try to make sense of.

Haha I can fully understand. I've had to stop inking over my pencils because I couldn't figure out what I had intended with those particular scribbly marks.

This threads been way too dead for a while. I'll give this place some life by putting up some of the sketches I've been doing.

I'd read through this thread early on, but never posted, so it dropped off my radar. Your sketch dump page brought it back to the forefront, and I certainly enjoyed the rest of the stuff you posted since the last time I was here. (There are a few busted links a page back)

The sketch thread is really useful. It got me back into drawing and I'm trying to do art stuff everyday.

Today I colored the hammer dwarf picture from my last post.

I'll put this drawing up here as well. I felt really happy with it.

I love skeletons. Even if they are horrifyingly difficult to draw.

Edit:

I was on a roll so I did some more skeleton stuff.

Permission to repost that coloured skeleton + horse picture somewhere?

I have some friends (including my kung fu master) who ride horse (and practice practice horseback fighting) and I think they might be appretiating that picture. All I need is a subtitle now (like: "(Un)Lifelong Training" or something), and a link to share. (Plus your name / deviant art page or something to give you proper credits...)

Share away! I feed on attention. Here's a link to copy. http://doodlemoogle.deviantart.com/

Speaking of attention. I've been working on a drawing for the last two days, inspired by the skeleton practice stuff.

Done!

I'm afraid you might not be able to see/post there as it is a closed FB group, but I shared the picture via the deviantart page, so... yeah. :D

Also, I wanted to comment that afaik horses do not have that many bones in their tail (as it looks like a very long hair ), but after checking an actual horse skeleton (drawing), it turned out that they indeed have in the dock. (And I never had the chance / courage to grab a horse's tail, those things are not to mess with!)

So, I can say I learned something new today, too :D

Yeah I realized that the tail bone was too long after I had finished the image. I get the feeling this isn't the last time I'll draw a skeleton horse sO i'll probably remember that next time.

I don't think you've done it too long at all!

Looking for a horse skeleton and finding a picture, the only difference is I think its thinner and tapers more, but no-one would ever know this without comparing to an actual picture of a skeleton, so well done on drawing it so close to reality :)

As Synch said, the tail is not too long, it just seems to be too thick, that is what making the back part weird.

While we are at criticizing (gosh, I'm good at that :P), the shape of the neckbones are off, which makes the poor horse a bit short-necked. These two things (the tail and the neck) made me had to think about what this skeleton is actually riding on, but it's indeed more-less a horse. :)

Probably not. I thought it just looked dynamic with the context of flipping a wagon.

I'd expect someone to make a full cartwheel swing with his club when knocking over a cart.
Hehehe. Heh. Ok, I'll shut up now.

Fantasy/D&D nerd circles are pretty small I'd imagine. I make it a point to whore my art around different Deviantart groups to get that sweet sweet attention so you can find my stuff pretty easily.

Oh god, all the thumbnails for my images seem to have broken in the year I've been gone. That's great.
Now I have the internal conflict of deciding if I'm too lazy to fix them. I'm leaning towards a yes.

Aaaanyway. The amount of drawing I've done over the last year is close to nothing as I've concentrated mostly on learning 3D modelling and texturing, but I just recently managed to pull myself back together to do some drawing.
[thumbnail]http://img10.deviantart.net/34da/i/2016 ... a263f6.png[/thumbnail]

This character is something I've been thinking a lot about lately, in addition to watching tons of D&D podcasts. (West Marches. Look it up.)
He is actually based on the same design as this a bit older one.
[thumbnail]http://img02.deviantart.net/2b63/i/2014 ... 853hle.png[/thumbnail]

The characters is a half dragon sorcerer with aspirations of ascending to the status of a full dragon. I imagine he already has the attitude to match the arrogance and rage of a red dragon.
His name is Gentrilicious. A sufficiently ridiculous and unpronounceable name for an aspiring dragon.
