Civ - Adventurers

Post by CroverusRaven » Fri May 24, 2013 7:31 pm

I would like to just go ahead and post this, though I would say that it is currently in the ...Brain-storming phase (if that means it doesn't belong here, feel free to move it) I am still willing to move aside if Croverus steps forward and takes it over. For now, I'm interested in knowing how many people would be interested in it. If you have any ideas on how to better the game, please speak freely.

The voting aspect would stay the same and whatever the majority vote is would happen (whether this is pillaging or helping) much like Civ-Goblins

There is a group of Brigands/Adventurers starting in the land of <Insert name>. This is a group of 10 to 20 (more to be added, maybe?) people who will be traveling the countryside and...well....adventuring, pillaging, looting, etc.

The power will be in the vote and this game would be open to everyone.

There will be a map (though you will only know about locations based on either 1. Exploration or 2. hearing about it.)
There could be various methods of transportation: Horseback, foot, wagons, Airship?, etc...
Starting out, there would mostly only be traveling about, however with time, and strength, a Base of operations could be created, (in the power of the vote, obviously)

SAs and FHs could still exist, though how to implement them is still in the works.

PCs could be created in a multiple of ways.
1) after a certain number of times of voting? (as with Aegis' Civ)
2) As the adventurers/brigands complete missions, loot villages, plunder towns and other-all gain xp, players could be created after enough xp has been gained. However, this requires a sign up list 1.m 2., 3., etc and it means that whoever is on top gets a character first.
3) you do a blend of both, first, you must be voting regularly and have a certain number of times voted and then you must wait until enough xp is collected to form a Level 1 <insert class here>.

This brings us to the topic of races and classes.

As this group will not be "goblins" what races will be allowed? Only humans?, other dnd races? Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, etc? (Suggestions Welcome)

Also, classes, There are the obvious ones: Warriors, mages, barbarians, etc? (suggestions welcome)

I think the group of adventurers should be a mixture of (humans, elves, dwarves, halfing and gnomes)

Class: (Ranger,Druid,Cleric,Warrior, Barbarians,Sorcerers,etc)

Also when I thinking about setting I was kind think of pathfinder kingdommaker. In that the king pays a company of adventurers to help explore and settle an unknwon frontier with dangers larking at every corner.

Thinking of this stuff just got me back into playing a game i bought 5 months ago call King of Dragon Pass.
Haven't played this signature game in a long while but I'll try it out again.

Help these poor little guys hatch.

Here is a small example: (granted this may change)

A small band of adventurers is born, this is a ragtag band of people, ranging from those who left their towns in search of adventure to those who have been banished and outcast from the grand cities and castles in the realm. As straggles slowly band together they decide they need a name, thus they call themselves <insert name>. The group decides to seek fame and glory across the many lands so that they can return home as heroes and kings.

anyone can come up with a name for the group and the names will be voted on.

Where/what will the group go/do now.

Map? (a few known villages from the people in the group)? maybe? Also (Several layers of map 1. Map of world, 2. Map of country, 3. Map of current surroundings) (or just 1 & 3)
Will they?
A) Find a nearby village
B) Travel East
C) Travel West
D) Travel North
E) Travel South
F) Search the nearby area for food and resources
G) Travel to ?

This is what I'm coming up without doing much thinking, thus i apologize.

EDIT: OOH, can we do it as having an adventurer's guild, with a to-be-later-decided cool name? o:)

I like this. Do we have to be good ? After goody-shoes Reaches, I would look forward to someone more selfish.... :D

Also, I am for Agromessa :)

No, you are not required to be good. It's group consensus. If the majority votes for good actions, the group is assumed to be good. if the majority votes for evil actions, the group is evil. As you move about and do things of progressing renown word will start spreading about.

Even though the place seems unanimous, I need 1 more person to vote on this.

Also, may simplify some of the rules about the different aspects and what they do, since instead of a tribe of 100+ members this will be a band of 10-20 adventure seekers and wanderers and maybe a few bandits.

I'll pitch in a vote to satisfy the voting requirements (Agromessa), though it is unlikely I'd be a regular player. This going to get moved to the regular games forum?

That map looks like you took mine and tore it to shreds, moving stuff around. :) Fine by me if that's the case.

*grins* It seems the one half wants ancient ruins and magical stuff, while the other half is more for shiny ore and dwarven-fu...^^

And, to mix things up, and make it so they aren't as easy..here are the votes, and I'm switching mine. By the way Croverus, you now own this topic, i had it turned over to you.

Lonely Mountain 4 WrdChs, Jib, ttwig, NolKing
Twisted Peninsula 2 nik, kida,
Agromessa 4 Fey, Runs, Aegis, Badge

Ok, so it is a tie between the Lonely Mountain and Agromessa

If no one else changes their vote by... let's say 6:00 pm EST, I will randomly determine which of the two are picked. Then I'll go make an INC thread, copy and paste the rules from the other Civ game, then modify them accordingly since the different stats have a slightly different effect in this game.
