That's because I'm hosting, Krulle.

I think we'll stick to 5x5, though if we have enough maybe we can also have a 3x3?

Question is whether we do a roll-off or just stick to first come first served. Moose did say he wanted to guarantee that newbies would get a chance to play this time. But ideally I'll want to balance the teams in terms of level and class. Hmm.

Okay, so we've got 12 people signed up for a 10 person game. Anyone else interested?

Looking over levels and classes, I should be able to build a pair of relatively balanced teams out of the first 10 who signed up. (I'll have to see how things come out after XP from the latest mission is added.) In order to preserve balance while adding Dreamer and Nerre, I think I'd have to have a roll-off between Pats, Yells, and Nerre and another one between the defenders. I'm not sure that's fair to anyone.

Stands Firm, what is your class? I'm presuming defender?

The thing about 6x6 is that the playfield gets larger. You've got 2 more players, but 11 more squares (36-25). A 20% increase in the roster gives us a 44% increase in the field size. Not to mention that you'll have more people trying to coordinate with each other for each team's moves. Also, with a 6x6 grid, a sprint of 3 squares would only get you halfway across the field, not over the line. That significantly alters the strategy, complexity, and predictability of the game. You'll have a lot more room to run around and past each other, and it will be harder to get from one side of the field to the other. Which will also make the game longer.

I'd like input from the players on this. There are currently three choices I see:

1. 5x5. Tried and true. Two balanced teams. But two people miss out and will have to wait for the next game.

2. 6x6. Everyone plays, but you get a big field.

3. 6x5. Two teams of 6 on a rectangular (not square) play field. You still have a larger playfield and more people to coordinate with, and the teams won't be quite balanced in terms of class, but it does reduce the increase in size of the playfield.

What do you guys think is best?

Current signups with current classes and levels (not accounting for mission XP):

1) Tumbles Down a Hill - Level 4 Attacker
2) Carves a Pumpkin - Level 1 Defender
3) Bomb-Diggety - Level 1 Attacker
4) Hides Cloth - Level 3 Defender
5) Righteous Charger - Level 3 Attacker
6) Stands Firm - Defender?
7)Pats dragons - Lv3 Strategist
8 )Boar Slayer - Lv 2 Attacker
9) Has No Name - Lv3 Defender
10)Yells at others - Lv2 Strategist
----------------------
11) Dreamer - Lv2 Defender
12) Nerre - Level 3 Strategist

We can also run 2 3v3's or try to recruit 4 more players to run a 5v5 and 3v3.

He received once GM (average of game) and once play, both for each 2 levels. (winners in practice match 1 made it to level 3).
With the mission I'll jump at least one more level.

Each of us on the mission gain 11 xp. That's enough for both you and I to hit level 4, Krulle. Those who started at level 3 or 4 only leveled up once. (It's 5 xp to get to level 2, 6 more to hit 3, 7 more to hit 4, etc. A gain of 11 xp is enough for us to reach the 18 total xp needed for level 4, but the others were already higher in level, so the gain doesn't get them as far.)

Also, those who have successfully completed a mission get to wear a shirt in the color of their choice.

I still haven't gotten any votes for what size game to play.

I, obviously, vote for 6vs6....

Also, for leveling I go for another level in "Tackle Stamina", and one in "Teamwork".

I just realized: The field of play is never square. In order for the game to work, we need an odd number rows and an even number of columns. You need the flag square to be in the center of its column, but the center of the field has to be on a line between rows.

So, options:

1. 5 vs 5.

2. Two 3 vs 3 games. This allows everyone (except me) to play, but the games will be shorter. And the smaller field of play changes things quite a bit.

3. 6 vs 6 on a 7x6 field. That's 12 players on a 42 square field, which will make things longer and more challenging. No one would start in the flag square.

4. 6 vs 6 on a 6x6 field. Still a large field. Also, with an even number of rows, the flag squares would have to be off center.

One other question: How much XP does Moose get for hosting the mission?

Right so 11 points from the mission, so that puts me on 24/26? so only one more skill...which will be -more cheer effectiveness.

As for T-shirt colour from the mission...hmm...black.

Guess mission hosting would be 3xp as well if in another game.

I liked the 3x3 grid and it meant quicker chats on what to do compared to five people running round for rabbits. So i'd vote 3x3 1st then big big game that includes everyone second.

option 3 sounds good, wider gives more chances to run around a defense.
then option 4 (the flag in 3rd/4 row (slightly diagonally across)
then option 1 (my loss, my bad luck - I was simply too late if this gets chosen)

(I wouldn't want Wears to not play, as I was the one who signed up too late)

Don't worry about it, Krulle. I'd still host a game. And I personally find the 3 vs 3 games (which actually take place on a 3x6 field) boring in comparison with the larger games. They're a good way to get started, but once you've got the hang of playing, I think the larger games are more fun.

I do have a 4v4 map from the game in LSN's forum if that helps. I honestly think 6v6 would be to much.

If you ran 4v4 or 5v5 the remaining players could maybe do a mission? I'd be down for a mission instead.
