If everyone wants to play (if we get 6 people for the 3v3 and 11 total players) I can probably take 5 players for the mission. So convince nolandking and lokthar to join in and you can go on the mission ^_^.

As for the rules I think we settled on the following:
  • The game cannot end so long as the losing team has the flag.
  • Anyone earning xp for participating in a flag run must return to their own half before touching the flag or earning xp as part of a flag capture again.
  • You cannot respawn in a square that was occupied by an opponent at the end of the previous turn. (which is a reversal of my ruling during the game, you guys were right about the strategic importance of that)
I think that was it, but let me know if I'm forgetting anything (or if you have any suggestions for any rule changes).

Also, I would encourage everyone who was watching the previous game to vote for the MVP (Most Valuable Player). You do not have to play to vote for MVP. It would be a big help as we currently have a 3 way tie.

hmmm... first one I can think of is something i'm thinking about for next turn.
Maybe some extra details on cheering like in my example of a moving tackler.

Oh and cheer Effectiveness and Cheer range for my first skills.

Okay, added this to the rules:
- Cheer
A strategist only move that gives a teammate within 1 square a +5% bonus. The recipient only receives the bonus so long as they remain within the Strategist's cheer range. (See Cheer Range feat below)
Also thought of a couple potential skills for later levels:

Short Sprint (ATT 1 + ANY 1, 5 Levels): This skill allows the user to sprint 2 squares as a single move and still take another move action (such as guarding, cheering, tackling, or picking up the flag). The user still suffers standard sprint penalties. Each level allows one use of the skill per match.
Moving Block (DEF 1 + ANY 1, 5 Levels): This skill allows the user to move a square and guard as a single action. Each level allows one use of the skill per match.
Multitasking (STG 1 + ANY 1, 5 Levels): This skill allows the user to take another action while cheering. Each level allows one use of the skill per match.
Cheer Splitting (STG 2, 5 Levels): This skill allows the user to split their cheer bonus between multiple targets. Each level allows one use of the skill per match.

Let me know what you all think of these. They're not going to come into play anytime soon, but I think they could prove to be very interesting.

Thinking about it I'm not a fan of the new skills. Short sprint gives the same strength of sprint tackle but with greater versatility and fewer requirements. I could use a short sprint then tackle or short sprint guard or short sprint cheer or short sprint flag pick up. Even if the sprint wouldn't count towards tackle bonuses, its versatility makes it far more powerful. Moving block takes away the strategy required for proper set up for blocks. Its tackling without risk if you happen to guess wrong. Multitasking takes away risk. Instead of, do help another or do my own thing you can do both. The power to cheer an ally gives significant power at later levels and to do that and guard, tackle, etc is extremely powerful. Cheer splitting seems like it might be underpowered to me. Getting in range of 2 different allies who need bonuses at the exact same time, is a very narrow circumstance.

I like expanding the skill set. Multitasking sounds good to me. It always felt to me like cheering should be more of a minor action.

Moving block as the complimentary skill for defenders doesn't make much logical sense to me, but I can't think of a better alternative. I don't see it as any less strategic or risky, though. You move out of one square and guard another. It's basically a double action. But you're still guarding one square. You don't get the tackle bonus. If you guess the wrong square, you've wasted your power. (And note that these are "once per game" powers, so wasting it is a big deal.)

Likewise, Multitasking as a once per game power isn't overpowered. And the rarity of the power means cheer splitting isn't such a waste.

Anyway, I'll take a level in Cheer Effectiveness.

I've got an idea for a new skill but what I think might be fun is to have a small competition, and get everyone to create one new skill or feat, and the winners will get added to the skill list (and maybe as a bonus to there own character for winning.

That could be a lot of fun, but I think it might be worth waiting until everyone has had time to get back into the game. Maybe after the next practice game?

Chuck I think you're mostly right on the Short Sprint skill, it's like an overpowered version of sprint tackle. With regards to the others, I feel that higher level skills can be more powerful precisely because they can only be used once per game per level taken. They probably do need to be gimped a little if possible, but it's alright for skills to be powerful. My original idea for cheer splitting was actually to let the strategist cheer multiple targets with their full bonus, but I thought that would be way too powerful. By the time you get to higher levels as a strategist you should have enough range and effectiveness to use cheer splitting effectively.

One possibility to consider is having cheer splitting as an area power. Which is effectively pretty much the same, but might make a little more sense. Any teammates in your cheer range get a +1 for every level in the skill.

Yep, unless noland decides he wants into the practice game, in which case I could let Pat into the mission. I'm going to get started on starting up the Mission now.

Shall I get to work on launching the practice game then?

Well it's probably going to have to wait until tomorrow since it's rather late, but still. :P

Yeah, waiting until tomorrow gives noland a chance to join still, I can always add Pats to the Mission after it has started, but you can't really do that with a game. Also, I've been thinking for awhile that Strategists are a bit weaker in combat, the other classes get a bonus to ATT or DEF, but Strategists don't get anything other than cheering. I was thinking of giving them +1 HP in combat, what do you all think?

No problem. I just need you to pick a class (Attacker, Defender, or Strategist) and your gender. It would also help if you picked a specific color, light green is a bit broad. So would you like:

#00BF00
#00BF80
#00FF00
#80FF00
#40FF00
#00FF80
Or for a darker green
#008000
#004080
Or anything in between.

Perfect, I've added you to the player list and M0rt I've updated the sprite sheet with his sprites.

Part of me is hoping that no one ever picks a female sprite, because then I'd have to go through and make female versions of all of the sprites I've added :paranoia:

 I mean it's not that bad, just adjusting about a dozen sprites pixel by pixel to add some curves to them. I'm going to need to do it at some point, might as well be sooner rather than later.
