Civilization 6: Myths and Legends

Post by Aegis J Hyena » Tue Jun 17, 2014 6:55 pm

It looks like my friend may have my script ready for me to rock, however things are UNSTABLE here with drama from the guy who I am currently rooming with (an ex, I know the story but won't bring it up here).

Launch date is set for July 1 with entries opening potentially next monday. I'm slightly worried about how since Thunt hasn't posted comics in almost half a year, I wonder how many left the forum. So here I am trying to look for new players (I'll be trolling some other boards for players too when I open entries.) So, if you're interested in playing Civ 6, post here so I can gauge interest. If I don't see enough interest I'll delete this thread next monday and hold off, or look for greener pastures.

A short man walks up to the counter...scanning the area and not seeing any attendants he notices a small metal bell just within reach..

The man begins to press the small top of the bell, hesitantly at first but as doesn't notice any attendants running to his service quickly gains confidence.

Ding..............Ding..............Ding.......Ding..Ding..Ding....Ding Ding Ding Ding.....Ding Ding Ding Ding...........Ding Ding Ding Ding....................................DING DING DING...DING DING DING DING

Another man walks up to the counter and promptly shoots the first man in the head.

Gathers: Don't worry about the "walls and walls of texts" two thirds of that is just race and class lists anyway and the rest will fall into place. I only intend to update once a day; if I'm feeling creative I'll just write an outline for the next game month. I'm just hoping I get enough people to make it worthwhile.

I'll try to keep expectations up, Alaen :)

Two things right now are in my way in the terms of stability. Right now the unwritten agreement is I stay here until October, where I move in with a friend who has an RV (though I'll be apartment hunting in the meantime). The other is drama (not related to me, just his own battles) with the guy I'm spending time here with. Still, 30 days at 1 update a day is nearly 3 years of game time... although that's just a tenth of that I have planned. So everyone leaps into this knowing it could collapse at any moment, but I'll try to keep you guys as entertained as long as I can :)

Just got word back from the guy I'm staying with, it looks like his drama has mostly evaporated. This is a Good Thing. The script my friend made *almost* works (it doesn't keep track of AP, Mastery and a couple of other variables); I made some test runs with it and it looks like without actions done things level at least once a year. Current plan is to open entries Monday, close them on the 30th, and begin the "pregame show" (968.06) on the 1st. Tempted to wait until after the 4th and holidays, I'll ask some people on Steam if they want to wait.

I -may- post to EQD when I open entries (it's slightly pony related since Ponies are one of the potential races). I've got three other forums in mind I'll be posting to to troll for players. :P

On the subject of the towering wall of text that gathers mentioned: One thing that I didn't notice in there is player's starting characters. In the past its been a simple job/skill/hobby. But I noticed there would be opportunities to lvl those so I wondered if that was changing.

I'm actually making some last minute moderate changes to the main rules now that I'm messing about with a prototype script (it should be done completely before entries close according to the chats I have with my scripter in Steam), so they'll be posted in the "opening entries" thread... though the actual story thread will be separate, and there will be a separate OOC thread alongside THAT. (blarg the spam?) Reworking the EXP a little bit to go back to a global format (was AP/MP on individual players, easier on my scripter and me if it's just global) and a couple flips here and there elsewhere. No new races or tweaks (aside from Post-Apoc and maybe a couple more random ones --- TRON, anyone?). So unfortunately there will be walls of text. Hopefully it won't scare off Gathers. :P

Personally, i worry that having 30 would become overwhelming for both you and us very quickly, but even if 30 doesn't work we can fit in quite a few more than the number who have shown interest so far.

Keeping them is the hard part....

Also, some people may want to wait for the voting war to be over before joining...as was the case last time.

I can handle maybe 15-20 reliably (Ideally? I dunno). 30 would be pushing it but I can work with it. I just want a huge number of non-character voters, really (that keep voting day after day). We'll see what happens. Gonna troll the other forums I've marked for death this weekend.

My actual beard in RL is 2 feet long and in a braid (and at one point had skull beads on it)... what about that makes you think someone is a bigger pirates freak than me?
